  1. Did council block this? I thought it never went to a Vote. Didn't Sam nix it? The bus use isn't free either. The issue is not free rides. It's that the bombers want to pay regular transit rates rather than the charter rates. The bombers still pay. And one can make the connection that fans pay through their ticket purchase.
  2. I agree. I just mean that there is only a finite number of vehicles that need to access the campus anyway. Part of the issues in the first couple of games was the sheet stupidity of people combined with the lack of plan by the bombers. With no cops to over rule the lights at intersections you bad light cycles that just weren't meant to handle that sort of load coming from multiple directions. You had people trying to best lights and getting stuck in the intersection so no one moved for several cycles. It was really a mad house. But it was vastly improved as the season progressed. I'm more intrigued to see what happens for grey cup and the NHL since you won't have thousands of people walking and cycling. Thy really need to get that brt Access done ASAP
  3. Welllll not really. It doesn't matter if there was twenty points of entry. There is only so much available parking on campus. I found things to be very easy after the first couple of games. There was still delays leaving but that's to be expected with that many people. If I parked close to the old stadium I expected to sit in traffic on the way out. And I ways sat in traffic on my way there
  4. That will sure teach sterling a lesson. "Here's two billion dollars. Now don't do that again".
  5. Filmon had to clean up the mess he inherited. And do so with drastically reduced transfer payments. When today's NDP still blames filmon for everything while cashing massive transfer payment cheques and collecting huge taxes it will is disturbing. If I recall, the school busses used last season were to augment the fleet of transit busses. Ie. when they ran out of transit busses they used school busses. I can't imagine they can handle the load this year with just school busses. Hopefully they are working on almost bing with transit behind the scenes that Napoleon Katz can agree to.
  6. Any timeline on when Wade will reveal the bombers new transportation plan?
  7. Does he think it's going to be renegotiated in favour of the league or in favour of TSN? Because if the players think TSN will drop the money they are paying that sentiment would certainly work in favour of the cfl. If he thinks the deal will benefit the cfl then he should be very happy with the leagues offer to renegotiate the cba in three years of league revenue spikes.
  8. Well goalie i agree to an extent. What usually happens is people drop out and the thread gets to multiple pages of the same handful of people. But You're right, minds don't change. But there has been some very thoughtful posts here. That's what I love about forums like this, when you get the thoughtful people taking part.
  9. Judy was honest in saying she would raise taxes to fund the needs of the city. Sammy said it wasn't needed. Sammy changed his mind as he is known to do.
  10. If it's 50/50 this will be over quick. This union will crack. I would assume the pa is selling it to the players as "go to camp and get your bonus. We strike and you guys can chill out for training camp instead of busting ass. League won't miss a game and we will be back in time".
  11. The reason you lock players out is to take away their power. The NHLPA offered to play during negotiations. You never do that. Games right now are less valuable then games later. Worse case scenario they negotiate all season and players walk before grey cup. Don't play without an agreement. Also unions never want to take offers to membership unless union leadership feels it's the best deal they can get. You often will a willing Majority screw it up for the resolute minority. The Saskatchewan numbers were just released. I'm too lazy to look. Wasn't it $60 million in revenue or something? And the $10 million profit includes $9million from the grey cup. So take that away and even the riders were razor thin margin.
  12. It might look bad but why hand the players enough money that many of them would be "ok" with losing a game or two? If strike is imminent lock them out. That's just smart business. The players will cry foul and claim it has emboldened them. But boldness doesn't pay the bills.
  13. Yeah I didn't like his generic union none sense of "we are united as one". Gary should have asked about Andrew Harris. Lol Best part was Gary asking when they might strike and Scott replied "that's up to us". Gary retorts yeah I know it's up to you. You could hear lawless trying not be a jerk.
  14. I love that Brandon spends most of his time insulting me. It means I won the argument. The "Im part native and I dont find it offensive so it must not be offensive" line is my favourite so far. Once again, im summation: "Redskins" *is* offensive. No debate there. You may not personally find it offensive just like you personally dont like gay people. In both cases, you are on the wrong side of the issue. The discussions centres on whether the team should change the name, not whether the name is a slur. No intelligent person believes Redskins is acceptable in this day and age. I suspect this thread will soon be locked due to the actions of yet another person who can't engage in discussion without resorting to petty insults. Shame on you, Brandon.
  15. What? I just mean hes a known liar. He publicly flip flopped on putting the Goldeyes into a blind trust. Thus he lied. Thats all i meant. Right? ;-)
  16. Your statement is factually incorrect and astoundingly ignorant. I guess its a fine line between being a homophobe and being a racist. But now that you've revealed more about your personal life, I cant say I'm surprised. Just disappointed. If you dont know the difference between some religous folks disliking Halloween (lol) and an accepted slur that attacks an entire enthicity based on the colour of their skin then you are either playing games or profoundly stupid. You want the Indians to change their name and logo but not the Redskins? Is there a face palm emoticon here?
  17. HUGE difference between offending crazy people and offending an entire ethnicity based on a racial slur. There is silly offense and legitimate. Quite frankly, I know for a fact you're way smarter than that. People could find offense to "Flames" or "Oilers" or "Bombers" or anything really. But the debate CAN'T be that there will always be someone taking offense to something so the MOST offensive things should remain. Its like Brandon's argument that the Indians logo is offensive so we should keep the Redskins. Huh? In fact, if someone thinks the Indians' logo is offensive then they absolutely can't support keeping the Redskins name. Bottom line, the question is about degrees of offense or if you or me personally are offended. its the fact "Redskins" IS a recognized racial slur that is used 99% of the time as a derogatory, insulting, racist slur. the question is not "is Redskins a slur". It is. Do you disagree that Redskins is a racist derogatory remark, irregardless of its use as the team name of the Washington franchise?
  18. Am I correct in understanding that players with signing bonuses in their contracts can report to camp on Saturday, pass their physicals, get paid their bonuses and then strike on Sunday? And if so, couldnt the CFL lock them out tonight and prevent those bonuses from being paid?
  19. I was just going to post this. Complaining about the coaches getting paid is really rich on the part of the players, a PA rep no less. Talk about out of touch. It really does seem that the players have it in their minds that they deserve substantial increases. They deserve increases but this is the first time how long that the league is in a position to be financially stable across the board and to finally invest in core league initiatives. Players want to be "partners"? Act like it.
  20. If you have to err on the side of the players getting extra money or the league getting cost certainty, you should side with the league. From a simplicity perspective I think the minimum salary should go up. i think practice roster pay should go up and I think the cap should go up a percentage that is not just okay for the rich teams but manageable for the weak teams also. The CFL might have erred in offering the signing bonus. Much like when the NHLPA offered rollbacks as an alternative to a cap, the owners accepted it as a core part of the process. The PA will now be expecting gains in the cap but will expect that one time payment also and if they dont get it, what was once not even a consideration will be seen as a loss. Depending on what this one time payment costs, perhaps the league would offer an even large signing bonus (say $20,000-$25,000, maybe on a sliding scale of years in league) and ask for a lower cap increase. How many CFL players would look at a $25,000 cheque and vote to strike in favour of wage increases in future years when they are likely to not even be here...
  21. I bet the young players will be happy to vote for strike now knowing the veterans angled for a payday for themselves. The CFL should counter with something that speaks to the younger players/rookies etc and drive a wedge. Keep in mind for the purpose of this discussion, I'm pretty sure "veterans" means anyone who is not a first year player. That makes more sense then.
  22. Did not vote for Katz. I think i actually voted for Al Golden when he ran against Katz. Couldnt vote for Judy and her left wing nonsense but couldnt vote for Katz so didnt vote at all. I will say this though, Sammy almost talked me into voting for Judy. That speaks to his failings. Worse thing, he berated many of Judy's ideas and then turned around and implemented them. Sam is a liar. Calling him two faced would be an insult to all two-faced people and greatly understate the facts. He's certainly "multi faceted" but considering the reality of his personal life, he's used to living a lie.
  23. I bet the young players will be happy to vote for strike now knowing the veterans angled for a payday for themselves. The CFL should counter with something that speaks to the younger players/rookies etc and drive a wedge.
  24. I think that takes it close to $7 million by end of contract. What was the CFL's offer? What is the cap now? What does $5.8 represent percentage wise. Compared to the CFL's offer (which I think was 9% increase), split the difference and play ball.
