Tony Norman was a fairly dominant DE for the Bombers in the early 80s. My girlfriend at the time and his were good friends...I remember crazy, crazy times spent with him and other BB of the era.

Please remember that Gary Lawless citing the "word on the street"
does not equal truth by anyone's stretch of the imagination.

Nobody gives it up for returning heroes (see John Chick) like the midori-heads. Familiarity with the system + a very good chance to return to the ($) Cup + exultation of the highest order should be enough...Unless the cash gets very serious, I can't see him going to another CFL team if they are just kicking tires.
-
If I were one of the other West teams I would make sure the Riders have to make him the highest paid receiver in the league. You might not get him but you can make it tougher for the Riders to manage the cap going forward.
Yeah...bid them up, like Dave Hester to Darrel Sheets

Why are the Reebok unis being referred to as tie dies? As awful as these ones are, you don't want to imagine what a true tie die design would look like...especially when being worn by the more portly members of the team.

I love booze snob debates...they are so unwinnable.

Taman says that although Smith is a "good kid" there is the possibility he could be released. He also says the event that precipitated the suspension happened in Ottawa.
Should never have went to that party at Mike Duffy's house....
yeah you have a few drinks and then find out 20 years later you have a daughter in Peru.
La Paz Smith....A homely girl, but good hands.

Garcia hitting the field is more absurd than the number of times Michael Bishop or Buck returned to action?....no.
It's his age that's in question, not his competence. If he can't cut it in practice; he doesn't play.

I know what we can do...Let's sing!

This fan never hates an opposing coach unless my team gets beaten by him and he acts like a ****** in victory. ...At this time, there is no hate for Austin from me. Ask other coaches and his own team's fans and you will get a different answer.

They have to quit panning to Don Mathews. He looks totally spaced out and disinterested sitting there, staring into space.
He looks like he's trying to decide if he sat in a pie or not
Thinkin the Don just made boob-boom in his strides and hasn't realized it yet.

I feel sorry for dinwiddie. He gets a dream opportunity that he's just not ready for and the team isn't good enough. Hope this doesn't ruin his career.
Remind you of someone else ... someone a little closer to home?

Hamilton Spectator Sports Page Headline for August 1:

I think the Cats are susceptible to the long ball and predict a big game from Kelly.
...would be knocked out, to see Fitz more active in the O.

Tim Burke?
I agree. First impulse is to say JJ, but at least he did his job some of the time.
Burke was an apathetic quasi-nice guy who lacked energy and commitment to his team...a Cancer doesn't have to actively subvert , it can be more subtle, like a coach who doesn't trust or lead his charges.

Stop with the East/West imbalance already.
Way too much conversation revolving around an imaginary geographic line that separates two divisions. Unfortunately these groups are not equal in number and features one team which moves back and forth over the line with regularity.
All that matters is our division...whichever one it is this year.

Israel should launch you at Hamas.

Sorry to say but this season has been awful. And the stands are half empty in Edmonton (except vs the Stamps), Calgary, BC & especially Toronto. Reminds me of the early 90's which is scary.
Only 25K for Geroy's glorification @ BCP?
Plenty of no shows in the stands at McMaster... I've seen more people lined up at a Tim Horton's
This is not good.

Leggett covers ground so well its night and day difference from him and Cauchy.
What a nightmare he was. Regardless of whether the Bombers signed Cauchy to attract Henoc or because he was the best they could find...another example of what a horribly run organization we were.
-
Would be curious to know if anyone in the Bomber organization made any mention of him and his passing yesterday to the players and they stepped up for him last night.
Why would they? How many current players/coaches/management knew or played for the man (Suber, Watson, Pierce)?
I sure don't mean to belittle his memory, but I would think we, the fans, remember him more fondly than most current members of the organization...and that's a damn shame.

I'm OK with platooning the running backs....using a Cotton blend

Hal Sigurdson was an exceptional football writer and Sports Editor at the Freep from the mid 70s until around 1990. His writing style was more homespun and folksy than Matheson's.
I used to hate Jack Matheson for being hugely biased toward the home side and being overly critical during lean times.
In hindsight, I think it was because he truly bled blue and gold...Caring too much about the Blue Bombers is something you sure can't say about too many Winnipeg broadcasters/journalists today.
-
Although, you might be surprised who could come out of the woodwork if you need him.
In his final season with the Bombers, Joe Poplawski assumed the placekicking chores. Trevor Kennerd missed 8 games in 1986 and Cal Murphy lost confidence in Paul Osbaldiston. Poplawski connected on 8 out of 10 field goals. (http://forums.bluebombers.com/index.php?topic=38455.0;wap2)
