  1. Exciting game. Both teams had their ups and downs. Calgary is much better with Maier in at QB, I can't see them moving back to Mitchell any time soon. Defense struggled a lot so that'll need plenty of work heading into Labour Day. Collaros really has to stop on the red zone picks. Think Al Bradbury may have given us a bit of a gift on that holding call but I'll take it - was surprised they hadn't called some earlier.
  2. Defense just awful tonight. Really can't contain or tackle. This is going to be a tough one for them to watch film on next week. Feels like we are in big trouble now.
  3. Pretty skeptical they will call that PI
  4. Entertaining game. Calgary looking better than I anticipated.
  5. Montreal needed a generous DPI and a very fortunate offside to score their touchdowns. Not too worried about that. Would have been nice for us to get the DPI call in overtime in my opinion but oh well. Refs were their usual inconsistent selves. Montreal's defense deserves full credit though. They got after it and kept them alive all game. Our OL is dinged up and needs the bye badly. Offense still needs to find their identity too. I'm not confident in Legs but would be stunned if we moved on. He has had a mostly good year and kickers across the league are not very good. We are gonna ride it out I think. Poorly played game on our part and fitting to lose on kicks after benefiting earlier in the year. Get healthy and carry on. At least TSN can stop talking about the various streaks.
  6. Agreed, and we really need to stop making this a thing. Football players have limited years to make their money. They should make as much as they possibly can.
  7. They really shouldn't, right? Super annoying, hurts the TV product immensely and it's artificial sound. It doesn't even create a fun and intense environment (compared to say a packed house screaming and clapping).
  8. Ugly game for most of it, team desperately needs a bye. Collaros and the receivers were not on the same page early and I thought that contributed to some of the turnovers. Also Grant is fantastic in small doses on offense, terrible if he's getting a large amount of snaps. Dynamite returner but seemingly lost running routes. Montreal had their chance and didn't do anything with it in the first half. Always happy to see Maciocia look like a schmuck.
  9. Terrible coaching by both LaPo and Steinauer. LaPo's offense still too full of very pretty 2 yard runs and short throws. Lost the game after not being able to pick up a single first down in crunch time. It may go overlooked but Ferguson rightly called out the mistake by Steinauer at the end to kick an XP to go up 2 instead of going for the two point convert. Losing on a long FG would have been deserved.
  10. It seems to me that Masoli and Evans were both better when they were together, because both were inconsistent, sometimes injured, and needed to be benched at certain points. Now separated as definite starters on their respective teams, neither seem as formidable. It'll be interesting to see if and how Masoli rebounds from this latest injury.
  11. Good game, two solid teams out there and fortunately we made a few more plays to win it. Collaros is just excellent. Our run game, especially with Oliveira, just flat out sucks still but I'm hoping Buck has figured out that Collaros and the receivers are more than capable of winning us games. Agudosi looks like he should be a match up issue for defenses. It is not often a Mike O'Shea team loses the special teams battle but Calgary got us tonight for sure. That'll need a lot of work, and sadly seems like the kick game may be a problem too.
  12. Good thing they fired Khari, wouldn't want to lose an embarrassing game against Edmonton...
  13. Think Khari got a bad break here. He wasn't great but if you fired him this early in the season you clearly weren't committed to him. I am really, really surprised to see Miles get fired. But I guess if you're stabbing one coach in the back, doing it to a second one is easy.
  14. Just an ugly game but rather win ugly than lose ugly. I'm still stunned Bede missed the XP. Offense still remains a big issue. They've got to sort out the run game quickly.
  15. Monday Night Football had a similar issue in the first game of the year one season, and it caused so much negative attention it was changed by half time. Yet TSN routinely opts for yellow colours on their scorebug knowing it's similar to the flag colour.
  16. As that happened I actually thought about this thread. TSN has a production problem. There is no way they would attempt that during any other sport. I think seeing the old highlights and celebrating 25 years of FNF is a fun idea. Show them at halftime or blatant down time. I don't need to lose half the screen to an old replay and then have a breakdown of that play, particularly during live action. TSN actually has good PBP guys. Smith, Neilson, Ferguson are all good or fine. Suitor is by far the worst colour guy, but Forde and Dunigan (when asked) are good too. As for Beirness and the panel, I expect they would all be a lot better if the people running the show had any clue what viewers prefer.
  17. Ottawa is definitely much improved from last year but we saw the good and bad out of both Masoli and LaPolice. Masoli had a ton of yards but couldn't get it done. They waited for him to make a mistake in both games. LaPo throwing the hail mary challenge flag and losing the timeout was a major mistake as well (hilarious that Ferguson and Suitor both said the game was pretty much done after Ottawa's turnover on downs, then realized their mistake). The Bombers are slowly starting to figure things out. Offensively the OL and RB spots are hurting us still. Collaros with versus without pass protection is a huge difference. Need more run gaps from the OL and for Oliveira to step up his game. Augustine is definitely the more explosive back. Richie Hall and the defense continue to save the team in my opinion (despite their own flaws too).
  18. Vernon Adams is a really fun player. If he can stay healthy, he is going to be good for both Montreal and the league as one of the league's next potential QB stars. Also, I like Montreal's new helmets and that the Stamps are staying red/white only for the home jerseys.
  19. That was a nice throw by Prukop, but not sure its worthy of the love its getting from Suitor. Quick progression and hit the wide open seam route. This is more of an expectation than an accomplishment, but it is definitely nice to see him connect on a deep ball.
  20. I'm pretty convinced that Suitor is an active deterrent for fans, both new and old. I would love for someone to actually break down the play (correctly), instead of rambling on about something.
  21. Seems pretty odd. I assume it's just them talking up the players.
  22. Agree that Brown has won the backup spot. Better accuracy, touch, still plenty mobile. Been impressed. He worked the middle of the field really well for someone with limited experience. It is really weird seeing Bailey out there with a bunch of guys unlikely to make the team.
  23. Mostly that the CFL isn't the top football league, the product and coverage can be bad, sometimes things like rules or reffing. To these folks, who only want to watch "the best," it doesn't matter if there are 7 or 0 Canadians playing. They aren't going to watch and the league is unlikely to draw them in, in my opinion. The CFL should still try to attract new fans obviously, but you also don't want to lose the ones you have.
  24. I know many, many people who aren't fans of the CFL. None of those people complain about the Canadians. To me this would indicate that if you want to attract those fans, you are looking at the wrong problem.
  25. I think the CFLPA royally screwed this up but at the same time I am completely in favour of keeping the Canadian content. I also like it kept simple (no snap percentage) as that makes it easier on casual fans. I very much enjoy watching the best players compete in the NFL but can still enjoy the CFL for what it is. Take away the Canadians and you're left with a weird copy of the USFL and XFL, both of which I have no interest in. I like that our team is run by a bunch of Canadians. Reducing the opportunities for Canadian players has a downstream effect on a lot more than people think.
