I moved to Oakbank a couple of years ago, and we never bothered to get TV. Just basically use Netflix and other means...ahem.
Anyway, I mostly watch football games online, but it's so cruddy sometimes that I'm thinking of getting TV for the nice clear picture until both CFL and NFL are done. What does everyone here use that lives outside the city?
I know both Shaw and Bell have satellite. I'm looking for the cheapest possible solution. It's not that we don't have the money, it's because I'm just that cheap. I saw Bell had some 20 dollar a month package for a year if you signed up for 2 years or something like that. And Shaw has some deal for 20 a month for 3 months. The receiver is cheaper for Shaw where as Bell's is really expensive.
Any thoughts, comments?

I don't wish harm on the guy, but he's playing Pro Football and he knows he's prone to injury.
Also...guys on other teams are specifically hunting him down. Unless the refs smarten up, I say under.

Yeah, I'm hoping that this will turn around during regular season, but to quote Star Wars "I've got a bad feeling about this." And it's mostly surrounding the coaching staff, not the players. I think we have a good bunch of players...I am just not liking the coaching staff. I hope they prove me wrong...I really do.

OK coach, if you say so. I had no idea redzone turnovers were so easy to fix. You should tell that to the hundreds of QBs who have failed in the CFL and NFL for that very issue. If only they had that secret formula that only you seem to possess!
The point is, if you're going to turn over the ball, it's better to drill down field and do it in the other team's red zone rather then turn it over in ours. You can then work on the ability to make things happen in their red zone later. At least there's something to work with.

Buck wasn't very good last year but Elliott wasn't better. He could drive half the field like a champ, unfortunately when he got to the 35 yard line he became absolutely useless. What good is that??
Don't think Buono picked up Elliott for nothing. He knows when he sees a good thing.

I want to like Burke a lot because I love the upfront attitude... but there's some red flags popped up last year and we shall have to see if he's got that sorted out this year or not.

I really don't like Tim Burke.
His veterans hardly played at all (I missed the first 5 minutes of the game and don't think I saw more than a couple of reps from a handful of starters the rest of the way), the worst performing veteran of all is the one he coddles the most and he continues to hang them out to dry as a "motivational tool"
His player analysis in the media has a LONG way to go.
I just posted this morning on our bombers site along the same lines as this regarding Tim. I'm not a fan. If he proves me wrong I'll eat my words, but the way he speaks he reminds me of someone having dementia or something. Maybe he's just not a good public speaker, but he doesn't inspire me at all, and it doesn't seem like he inspires his players either. I think we have good players on our team but the coaching staff leaves me wanting.

If I could, I'd be there tonight, but I expect there will be lots of empty seats, not just the unsold. When I had seasons in Wpg Stadium, it was hard to even give my second ticket away (The wife wasn't interested at all in going to see a glorified practice). Sometimes I went alone. Sometimes I didn't bother.
Dude...consider me there if you have a ticket to give away.

Hunt et al naming the team after the historic colours of sports teams in Ottawa doesn't seem much different than naming a team after the colour of socks.
Right but he's not naming it a pair of colored socks...he's just naming them random colors. Might as well just call everyone that. We're the BlueGolds, Saskatchewan is the GreenWhites, Montreal is the RedBlues...it's just sloppy name calling.

If you started a team today and called them the Blue Bombers, you would be laughed out of the city. It will grow on people, to the point where nobody will remember what the complaints were all about in the first place (assuming they last long enough for that).
I get where you're coming from, but here's the thing. A Bomber is a big ass airplane that drops bombs...being blue is just an Bomber airplane being the color blue.
What in the hell is a RedBlack? It's not even anything. It's 2 friggen colors combined. It makes no sense. IT...MAKES...NO...SENSE!!!

But I wonder how many of them will actually get a chance to punt in the game. With 4 punters, that's not a lot of turns each.
Unless we play like last year, in which case they'll see a lot of action.
...but I'm hoping the opposite happens.
