  1. But can they outright refuse a promotion to the AR of the team that holds their rights? Don't teams have the leverage?
  2. That's because he didn't go on the PR, he was a free agent when he signed in OTT CFL legend Sam Montgomery? Played zero regular season snaps for EDM before landing on our PR a the conclusion of the 2017 season. Was released less than a month later. Was then brought back in January 2018 and was a final cut out of training camp that year. He did not get back on our practice roster and went of to play in the Arena League, hasn;t been in the CFL since.
  3. Just trying to understand here, could a player actually refuse to be promoted from the PR to the active roster and just go to another team? Regardless of what the team holding his contract says about it? That I don't get in this scenario. Seems to me the team with the contract has 100% of the leverage
  4. What about the active roster? If he has already agreed to go on our PR now, I have a hard time imagining him refusing to get back on the active roster if we did so to prevent his poaching
  5. What he's saying is the Bombers could simply place Haba on the AR to prevent the poaching from happening. See here, back in 2018 this was all discussed. Unless something has changed between now and then. I bolded the important part. https://3downnation.com/2018/09/21/top-five-practice-squad-players-worth-poaching/ Though such moves are rare, CFL teams are permitted to claim players off opposing practice rosters. Three provisions must be met in order for such a transaction to take place. Firstly, the team making the claim must have an active roster spot available for the player in question. A player can only be transferred from a practice roster to an active roster — not merely to another practice roster. Secondly, the team that owns the player’s rights can retain them by moving the player to the active roster, one-game injured reserve or six-game injured reserve. This can prove problematic for teams, however, as roster space is limited. Thirdly, the player in question must consent to the transfer. Going to a new team is always in the player’s best financial interest — active roster spots pay considerably more than practice roster spots — but may not be desirable for other reasons. And yes, if Haba is as good as we all believe, I am sure O’Shea would protect him from being poached.
  6. Assuming he actually accepted a potential offer from another team, couldn't we just pull him off the PR onto the active roster to scuttle the deal? I'm pretty sure the team with rights to the player gets a chance to prevent the poach by playing them
  7. I tried the 'Undertaker' from Underdogs: Rosemary buttered beef patty, jalapeño jack cheese, sundried tomato aioli, pickled red onion, classic steak frites Yep, that was quality beef and a taste that's a little out of the ordinary without overcomplicating or outright forgetting what a burger is. The pickled red onion brought something different and steak frites added some crunchy texture. It still doesn't top their 'Randy Savage', winner of Le Burger Week in 2018 and current regular menu item.
  8. Birds of a **** feather flock together Randy
  9. ...we would have done something you don't recall seeing happen at a professional football game ever in all the years you've watched football? Nice. Act like a bunch of college kids. Got it. They will surely listen to us then. Less to do with age, more to do with era. Surely a pro football team can get past the macho BS of the past millenia and settle this like professionals; on the field, between whistles. Make them pay with their playoff cheques. I will give you this much @BigBlue, if we were up 2 or 3 scores and the game was well in hand, I'd have loved to see someone take that guy down a notch. Thankfully these Bombers are wiser than you or I obviously are.
  10. Just going with the hot hand. That's two wins in a row for the big fella and he did beat the best team in the league (us), they just hope and pray he can do it again infront of a fired up and angry crowd. I have my doubts, I'm sure 30,000+ of us will have something to say about it this weekend
  11. That was #67, Kolankowski. Kola threw Oliveira aside at first and Oliveira once again got infront of him, likely helping prevent a retaliation penalty. #53, Neufeld, was running to the refs and pointing his fingers. Watch the replay at 7:49 and tell me I'm wrong. https://www.cfl.ca/2023/09/04/recap-saskatchewan-32-winnipeg-30/
  12. New Standup on Netflix from Shane Gillis... if you love stand-up go watch it right now. He's just so funny. The Australian Goth. Republican werewolf. Trying to remain a patriot after visiting George Washington's slave dungeon. He closes with one of his incredible Trump impressions. The guy is a riot. He has a free show on YouTube if you are unfamiliar. Watch this one, too!
  13. I'd love for you to provide a single example of a football team retaliating against a player that emphasizes your point. Name one instance of a tough guy football team getting their star player messed with, followed by the team retaliating on the field, followed by 'earned respect' or their players otherwise no longer being messed with. Can you do that? I sincerely doubt it. Maybe you'll have to keep referring to an entirely different sport, and a player that retired a quarter-century ago.
  14. Channel the anger and frustration into beating the man in front of you and making them regret crossing the line. This is sport, not gang turf, we settle things on the scoreboard. Maybe we should be more like BC and meet them in the parking lot? Maybe we could be like TOR and go fight in the stands? MOS syndrome? You mean, least penalized team in the league year in year out? Thats not weakness, that's net yardage, that's winning a game of inches. Discipline.
  15. The league can't wait on injuries to happen before taking action. We can't have headbutting going on after the whistle, that's for lame soccer
  16. Exactly how many yards in retaliation penalties before you're acting like a real man? It's called discipline, something our team prides itself on. Best revenge is laying 50 points on them this weekend
  17. It was a 10 yard penalty and come on, they just went up over 2 scores in the dying minutes of the LDC off a passing play made by a running back, that's worth celebrating. I thought it was fun. Next time, maybe they should just pretend they have a hammer and avoid the penalty.
  18. Closest I can think of offhand is actually Andrew Harris giving Simoni Lawrence a little tap to the grill in the 2019 GC (I have it set to play at 0:49 right before the headbutt): This is nothing compared to what happened to ZC. Nowhere near as violent, and it's not like Simoni didn't see it coming and maybe even expect it. ZC was just standing there, defenseless and at ease.
  19. I agree. We are missing guys like Hansen and Miller, 2 heavy hitters on teams. The Panzer and the GOAT have big cleats to fill
  20. I said when it happened I'd press charges! Where does overenthusiasm cross the line into straight up assault? I don't think we are being dramatic here. That was violent and totally outside of the game. My blood boils in the checkout at Costco and I barely ever headbutt other people
  21. Brady - Always on, give him the rock more Wolitarsky - TD to get us back in it, probably makes the grab in OT if the ball doesn't get tipped (that's the thing about balls tipped at the LoS... we'll never know) Holm - Coverage so good it draws challenges, and a TFL to boot HH - The fans for sticking it out and repping the good guys til the bitter end
  22. Hodge: I'm taking the Riders and here's why *fart noises* ...dead air... Abbott: That is a SHOCKING pick considering Jake Dolegala is the starting QB
  23. It's been my desktop wallpaper since the day I first saw it. Just a perfectly captured moment.
