Pregame talk: Patriots North come to town
17to85 replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah I am, cause we saw it happen here too with Khari Jones and we saw it with the other QBs he had when he was head coach too. Streveler is a different kind of qb, teams defend him differently because he is such a threat to run himself, but defences know that to defend a lapo offense you give em an opening on a dump off that's where you can force the ball. Again, I ain't saying Nichols has been great these last 2 games, far from it in fact, but it's also a fact he ain't getting help from the playcalling, especially when Lapo goes into protect the lead mode as he did against Toronto. -

I will tell you this right now, it's not just Nichols with the offense. Yeah he wasn't great, hut other than Harris who was va. Toronto? Nichols wasn't so bad you can say it was just him. I really truly believe it is the playcalling holding this team back. Just see it too often with Lapo back there regardless of who the qb is. Plays not to lose, which is a recipe for a loss. Best thing that could happen to this team is someone to hire lapo as a head coach in the offseason. Now about someone else hiring Hall.... -
Ritchie Hall sucks at blitzing. Yeah he sends guys, but he leaves easy to spot openings so the qb can get rid of the ball. He hopes for a mistake, but the game has evolved and that doesn't work anymore. Honestly I'd blitz less and let our horses on the DL collapse the pocket and make the throws more difficult.

Step #1, stop killing your own momentum by getting ultra conservative with a lead. Momentum in sport matters, but our coordinators love to give the other teams momentum. -
That game and the Hamilton game cemented my thoughts that it's time for new coordinators. The patented Ritchie Hall defense can't close out a game and the Lapo "don't **** up let the D win it for us" offense doesn't work with it either. Both are loser coordinators who need to do better because they are both great at sucking momentum from this team with the passive play calling.

Ultimately the way the rest of the season plays out will determine what happens. Does Nichols stay healthy? Does Streveler get significant playing time? Do we have playoff success? How? These things all matter.
-
Spoilers assholes.
-
It's complicated, at this point we don't know if he is ready or able to be a fulltime starter, but we know Nichols is capable. So what do you do? Gamble? Let someone else take the gamble?

After the game was out of hand and the bombers took the foot off the gas...
-
Not sure using what the Argos are doing as an example to be followed....
-
So much of this. Make fajardo look like the terrible qb he is. Far too much **** talk from that province after picking on the handicap kids.
-
Let the other teams have competitive games, I've seen enough tight Bomber games, I could comfortably live with stomping teams the rest of the time.
-
Like the friend who's an *******, but he's our *******...
-
Guys like Adams and Matthew's could be really good slot guys cause how do you stop a well run slant pattern by a guy that tall?
-
Hey it's not all bad, they still have to play fajardo at qb.
-
the other guys. The Winnipeg cheapness is a tough opponent.
-
Streveler for me too.

What you mean the receiver did what he was supposed to do and adjusted to the ball? No quarterback puts the ball exactly perfectly on a deep attempt. The receiver has the job of making sure they are in a position to catch the ball and make that catch. Every qb everywhere needs help from his receivers and that includes making difficult contested catches.
-
but will anybody notice? Remember when Bluto was hyping that guy up last season? Wilder hasn't done **** since that first partial season.
-
Mike Kelly is that you?
-
The ints weren't great plays, they were being in the right spot to capitalize on over throws and one of the fumbles on a return was the guy dropping the ball, the other the returner ran into his own guy which put him off balance and led to poor ball security. So yeah Hamilton was opportunistic, but those mistakes were bomber sloppiness more than anything.
