Yeah I don't really think there's a spot for an American LB or DB to be "contributing players." You need guys who are playmakers across the board. Gotta hope they are lined up next to a "contributing player" and not someone who is just going to run by them.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Mitchell get some reps at receiver and maybe Wilson gets sat. Wilson has looked god awful. No indication of any willingness to start and finish plays. If he doesn't start being productive in this game I think he's gotta be done. I can't believe we cut 16 guys that would be worse than him and Mitchell when the lights come on.

It's a little overboard to compare guys who are veteran professional football players to a guy who has never played a real game, no?

I wonder why they wouldn't bring Rosery back. Dress him instead of one of the special teamers or the 7th OL or MCI. Then you have a guy that's pretty complimentary to Augustine, more ability in pass game. Well in fairness he was injured bad enough two weeks ago that they cut him. Maybe he's not talking about cardio but the actual injury affecting his readiness to play a game.

Karamoko and Ayers might get some reps. Karamoko has played way more D than Gauthier this season so far. Depending who is up for DBs could play with a dime type guy, really 7 DBs out there if you include the SAM. See a lot more of that now because it can be harder to block up with the ground needed to cover, gives some time to read play for defenders.

Great idea to have a 300 lb guy playing around punting when we’re already down 3 guys in that position group.

They gave all the reps to a Canadian in the 2nd game who they cut. A guy that would actually make a reasonable tandem with Augustine to fill in if Oliviera is down.

Or reliable plays to get 4-6 yards on first down. What works to get that changes based on personnel and strength of the group. Our OL isn't moving anyone in run blocking or holding a pocket for very long so that needs to change the approach until they are changed. Screens, quick stuff. If we're in 2nd and 8-15 the whole game we can't stay on the field or really challenge any defense.

Think Fayad and Smith will be on. Mitchell and someone else will be off, likely Bridges or Ayers.

I'd like to have this problem in a Bomber related sense sooner than later.

I don't think you'd see BOLO or Bailey back because they were chasing expanded roles that they wouldn't get here. Bailey would at best be 3rd receiver here. BOLO is stuck behind Demski and Wolitarsky. You would have seen money shift to the D for sure. If anything I think they would have kept Hardrick.

For some reason Collaros last year in Hamilton popped into my head while driving. 0-8 until finally replaced. Kent Austin kind of similarly stubborn. June Jones switches up the offense to a Run and Shoot look around Masoli and they take off. You'd think at some point he'd realize that he has to be willing to adjust to what the needs of the offense are.

Could give him a look. Wasn’t much of a pass rusher in his first go round here. Think we need someone who can get some pressures off the edge so we don’t have to rely on blitz.

At this point rotate guys through rush end until you find an impact guy. Can’t really know from practice with such little full contact. You can tell pretty quick in games if guys have the burst and are disruptive. If Fayad sucks…call the next guy. Collaros was acquired that week before the injury. Then started the game after vs Calgary.

They are way too focused on going vertical which requires a lot from OL. On top of that some rapport between QB and receivers on where to expect ball, timing etc. That’s what Zach likes. Great if if it’s working, but completely kills passing game when it’s not. Would like to see some adjustment. Can we run some quick stuff? Do we have anyone we can screen to? Demski they do some of the tight bubble ones coming inside. Can we get the ball outside and set up some 1 on 1 situations where we can get a decent gain and maybe a bigger one with one broken tackle? Did some to Lawler vs Montreal once we were down and not moving the ball. Gotta do some work to force defenses to cover whole field and not just clog up vertical and watch us spin our wheels. Receivers are a bit of an issue too. Wilson is looking basically useless. Or they haven’t done a good job of getting him ready to actually play or both.

I mean there's no way to block for a guy who can't catch the punt to set up a return. The whole concept of blocking on punts is basically to slow guys down on their release to give space and then recover to tie guys up when you have the ball. There's always going to be multiple guys who appear unblocked. It's all on the return man to get it going.

I would like to have been a fly on the wall when they made their decisions on 20 receivers competing in camp and came up with Wilson and Mitchell as the winners. Mitchell especially was a hot mess in preseason games. Seems to me there might be 1-2 guys in those cuts we might be able to bring back. Obviously Johnson is already here so he should get a shot at the SB spot.

The comparison was to Reilly and Brown had thrown more than 2x the passes Reilly did by the time he was given the franchise job in Edmonton with far better results. Brown is as proven as anyone in this era before they get a starting job. He’s a very good QB today and quite likely to be a great one.

Hard to tell if that’s Myron Mitchell trying to hit the seam in a return or Ontaria Wilson trying to catch a pass.

Other thing is you drop some of these guys in January you free up free agent money. Obviously we have a lot in 4 guys on O but...Bighill/Wilson, Jefferson, Neufeld, Alexander...move on from them bring in a couple solid CFL guys and a replace a couple with young guys. Are we a better team? Maybe we go get Pickett or someone like that on D. Get a bit of refresh.

Some parts of it. Harris basically dragged us into the cup in 21. A lot of key pieces from back then not here anymore. Never replaced them. For one, Jeffcoat. Jefferson isn't a guy who is consistently productive without a real solid pass rusher opposite.
