  1. And Streveler would be a perfect fit again to balance that out. Hope it happens. Collaros struggles with quick game and obviously isn't a threat to run. Both things that make him easier to defend when weather is a factor.
  2. Or are they far better players than anyone on the Jets who would get that money anywhere? The Leafs haven't overpaid. They just haven't used their assets to build the best roster. They really needed to move Marner or Nylander to turn that into D/goalie.
  3. Augustine has barely played since a couple games in 2019 in anything but garbage time. Not even worth bringing up to try to make a point.
  4. I'd be somewhat on board if the team that scored the TD got the option for those kickoffs...or ball at 40 for other team. After a FG let the receiving team decide. Otherwise up to the last 3 mins of the game you penalize the team that just scored if they want to maybe try an onside or gain field position.
  5. Oliviera is at least a couple levels above Butler and Mills. And Canadian which is a big deal when they are struggling to fill OL. So play another cheaper and likely better import OL on the interior and pay the Canadian back,
  6. US RB's are getting better as the years go by and more schools are running Spread type stuff in pass protection and receiving, but that can be a huge issue depending what kind of offense they've played coming up. CFL is a lot different.
  7. The issue at his position is the likelihood of injury and availability of replacements. The guys at that position turn over in all leagues every 3ish years. Nobody wants to commit a ton of money when most years teams need 2-3 or more guys to get through a season at that spot. The only place I could see him be the kind of missing piece is BC. But they will have to spend a lot to keep their D somewhat intact.
  8. Because his deal is less than half of any #1 QBs make? He took a big cut in hard money to keep off-season bonus. Could still pull a Durant on them and join TSN.
  9. Edmonton won't trade Ford. They can't afford to sign a backup QB if they do.
  10. On the assumption Brown would be the starter. Hard money to hard money. BLM's deal is a chunk up front and enough play time incentives that I sort of wonder if they told him he's the starter to get him to take the pay cut. That or he knows he wouldn't get signed if they cut him. Either way if BLM isn't playing his contract is only a touch more than a basic veteran backup deal. I think cheapest anyone gets Brown is 3 years 1 M hard money with bonuses and incentives to push him toward 500 K per year. Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Hamilton are the teams with the cash. Calgary would trade Maier if they get Brown. And I think Ottawa would gladly take Maier and the $105,000 guaranteed for basically nothing if they don't get Brown. Edmonton could come off the top rope with a crazy 1 year deal to duel with Ford.
  11. Hamilton can pay Dru Brown $450,000 and still be paying less for him and BLM than we are paying Collaros with BLM's restructured deal. Hope he goes east but have a bad feeling he's headed to Calgary.
  12. Damon Allen is the Saskatchewan Roughriders of CFL QBs.
  13. I mean they got a pretty good look at Ford. He has no hope to pass the ball vs anyone who just spies him and plays zone. QB's who can't pass make you a non-playoff team. Yeah it's fun to watch him scramble around like a chicken with his head cut off 5 or 6 times a game. Really the only thing Edmonton fans should be grumpy about is taking themselves out of the Dru Brown sweepstakes for MBT. Sucks for us looks like Calgary will get him.
  14. Cornelius will be 29. I'd take a rookie to be the short-yardage/development guy. Bombers have about 4 on neg list.
  15. $100,000 of his 2024 base salary is guaranteed.
  16. You’d be poor agent. You want a 3 year deal with guarantees and escalating hard money. Guy could get injured immediately. There’s a lot of variables and no one wants a 1 year deal. Brown has at least 3 suitors depending on what Hamilton decides. Sask is out if they are keeping Harris. Won’t have the cap space with his hard money to be competitive. I think Ottawa will have to outbid everyone absurdly for a few reasons including location and current staff.
  17. Zero chance he's ever back up here. There's no cap on PR time anymore so even if he loses a step he'll have a job in the NFL until he's done.
  18. February will be interesting when teams have the tampering period. I suspect one of our Western foes will get ahead of Ottawa, both Alberta teams will be involved. Edmonton is a little more handicapped with Cornelius guarantee. Maier is tradable after everything settles in free agency. At the absolute most the Bombers could probably offer 150. But Brown needs to play.
  19. So about $200,000 USD difference not factoring taxes for a person who also doesn't necessarily live or train in Canada. If he's active for 8 games he blows the CFL salary out of the water. The CFL is not going to compete with the NFL. The guys in the CFL have to be ones who have more or less ended their NFL dreams.
  20. Rourke has already made over $300,000 USD even being mostly on practice roster.
  21. Thursday games before school is out are just about the dumbest scheduling the CFL can do. Thursday games should only be July and August.
  22. I wouldn't even say Fajardo got hot. I'd say the Bombers defensive scheme was completely brutal in terms of blitzing and use of Cover 0/1 looks vs a QB that is so inaccurate. We gave his receivers a chance to make plays.
  23. Collaros is way more in sync with Schoen I would say. If I was starting a team from scratch I'd take Lawler. He can do it all. Wish we'd use more screens and specifically to him, stuff to get the ball out faster. Especially need it when teams go heavy zone to take away the deep stuff.
  24. Oliviera won't get close to 200k. Everyone understands that RB is the position most at risk of injury as well as being the most replaceable on the field. Nobody will commit those dollars to one player at that position. A handful of coaches/GM's don't believe in using Canadian backs as primary guys still because of the depth issues it can cause (you basically need to build your roster prepared to run an American back even if you have a Canadian starter). I think the absolute ceiling would be 160 hard money (this could be structured with a significant amount for reporting) with another 40-50 in performance/play time bonuses.
