Last year. We need to do it again this year because 1 playoff win in 6 or 7 years isn't enough.

They've got to make the playoffs and win a playoff game. If they don't accomplish that, then we really need to look at replacing MOS.

I chose them just fine. You chose to add additional meaning that wasn't there, so you could argue against a point I wasn't even making. Nichols should play this year cuz he won games in the past? Are you suggesting that Streveler wouldn't have won most of the same games that Nichols did last year? I remember Nichols being a big difference maker in one of his wins last year and a big difference maker in a bad way in two of his losses. Wins are a team stat. I never suggested yanking Nichols or any other vet at the first sign of trouble. Players confidence shouldn't get destroyed because the coach didn't let him play when he isn't playing well. That should motivate him to play better. GTFO about perfection. It's not about perfection. No one is perfect. It's about competition and letting the best players play. If Davis and LeFevour were still the backups, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Nichols was clearly better than they were, but I don't think he was clearly better than Streveler last year. If Nichols gets back to 2017 form, then he clearly beats Streveler and should get the starting job. If he maintains that level, he should clearly get all the starts until the last game of the season, assuming we don't need the win. If he's at his 2018 level again, he shouldn't get a ton of rope based on past successes, but based on our coaches he will.

It happens every year. Vets who are more expensive than they are worth and vets who are owed bigish bonuses get cut before camp. Toronto didn't sign an expensive QB either. It's just the way things are.

What I actually said was it's not the fans decision and for better our worse, OUR coaches give vet players the benefit of the doubt. 'That guy used to be good in 2017' is a lousy reason to give a player the benefit of the doubt. Football is a what can you do for me now profession.

And.... another thing I didn't say. FTR: It's not about how many games he won in the past. It's about how well he is playing right now and if Streveler is playing as well or better.

Nichols gets 'a ton of rope' because it's the coaches, not the fans who decide if he gets pulled or not. Right or wrong, our coaches have proven time and time again that they will give vets the benefit of any doubt.

The NI QB is only counted as an NI IF he starts so no... you don't get an additional DI. You do get an additional import if you have a starting NI QB.

You guys never fail to make me laugh. I outlined our off season changes. I didn't say the sky is falling or that everything is the worst or that the only team we can beat will be Montreal. I didn't make any comment at all about where I think we'll end up this year. I didn't compare our team to any other teams, because the post was just about our off season changes. How well teams react to their off season changes will in a large part define their seasons. We're not Calgary no matter how much folks want to make that comparison. We won't be until we can prove A: that we can win the west then the Grey Cup and B: that we can replace our all stars with our backups without losing a step. MAYBE that happens this year. LIKELY not. I'm not alone in thinking that Eli, Desjarlais and Gray have valid shots at starting this year. All of them are rookies. (No... NFL practise time and a couple of games last year don't make Gray a sophomore.) I called Wild, Leggett and Fogg vet backups, not hard to replace starters. We'll likely miss their leadership tho. I didn't suggest that every player we lost was playing at their peak, but I believe that our 2 NI OL were. I don't think Foketi is a projected starter. He's insurance in case we don't have a starter ready NI OL. If we play him we have to play 3 NI receivers or start a NI DL to go along with our NI safety. The all star starters we drafted over 5 years are gone. Woli is the only NI starter from last year that Walters drafted. 3 more draftees will get a starting spot this year. None will have to beat out a vet starter. Jefferson and Matthews are known upgrades. Rose takes Randles spot. We'll see if he's an upgrade or not, but I don't think he is. I didn't mention Streveler cuz he's not a change from last year. Unless Nichols gets injured or really really really sucks for 3 or 4 games in a row, we won't see much of Streveler anyway. Personally, I'd rather have Streveler as the starter but I know that ain't happening. I don't see Nichols getting his 2017 form back behind a reworked O line that won't give him as much time to make his decisions and who will be fooled by defences way more than the guys they replaced. I expect a lot of throwaways. I'm not the one who says I told you so. I leave that to the cheerleaders around here.

This years team is very different than last years team. We've drafted pretty well since Walters took over, getting 3 all stars in 5 years. We lost all of them in the off season. We've replaced 2 NI all star OL with guys who have a start or two under their belt or are rookies. We lost our WIL and our shutdown corner. We lost our all star safety who we are replacing with a guy who didn't win the spot out of TC last year as he got hurt in game 3 having not played safety at all. He is coming off of a big injury and is currently on the vet injured list. We lost some veteran backups like Wild, Leggett and Fogg. We're making a bunch of changes at DB. We only made 2 known upgrades. We're counting on our QB getting back to his 2017 form, that the guys who have been around the club for a while are now good enough to be starters and that this years draft will net a starter this year.

Ryan's a good punter, but $100K for a guy who just punts is way too high IMO.

I'll be surprised if Sol isn't a great player again this year. Hughes for half a year or so. Manny looks to be broken down to me, but even a broken down Manny can make some plays. The Riders Achilles heal looks to be their OL and QB.
