Lmao is that a serious comment? Are we forgetting who opened this place up?
-
It makes sense, you’re both old crusty ramblers about everything wait are you Paul Friesen?
-
I mean, wasn’t I the one who said nobody was going to change anything with that news? Which is exactly what happened? I don’t know why you’re trying to come at me, this did exactly what I said it would do while I was being called an idiot for suggesting it lmao

dad?

He usually mixes in at least one sentence that doesn’t even make factual sense. Next time try including “ARGH FREE AGENCY BEEN OPEN FOR A MONTH I GUESS THEY JUST DONT WANT TO SIGN ANYONE EXCEPT RICKY WHITE JR”
-
Saw they corrected it … looks like it was meant to be Robbie Lowes
-
Based on how it’s reading on the transaction report, it’s for the NFL which means we still retain his CFL rights
-
That exclusive negotiating window sure is coming in handy i’m sure Kenny Lawler will be signing with us any moment eh
-
Yeah that’s disappointing. I was excited at the prospect of us agreeing to a deal with Dukes, would be curious to hear what happened there. Patterson doesn’t really move the needle much for me at all but if we’re being fair, his numbers were probably better than Dukes’ last season. He just seems very much like more of what we have with Streveler in terms of a short yardage specialist, doesn’t really give me the same belief that he could be the heir apparent to life after Zach like I thought Dukes could be.
-
Twas me. Not really sure what happened. Buddy just texted me and said “what the hell, we signed Patterson instead?” oh well I don’t need to be accountable, so I won’t be
-
This might seem surprising given the news from earlier today, but hey if it turns out to be wrong I will ban anyone who criticizes me for it Sources are telling me the Bombers have agreed to terms with Cameron Dukes
-
truth be told, I think if we do suddenly have a bit more cash to play with for a receiver, we’d be better off saving it for Pokey when he comes back edit: let me clarify, I know he’s under contract if he comes back. I’d give him a raise for this year with an extension attached so we can actually lock a guy up long term and not do this song and dance every year I’d also be pushing for Brady (especially) and Schoen extensions

Okie dokie

It’s flawed because you think this is all on hold for some fairy tale window of exclusivity this weekend. That could’ve been happening by now. It isn’t. It’s not going to.
-
I don’t even know where to begin with this. It’s so flawed. Good luck with your beliefs on this. I hope you’re right.
-
Listen to Dunk talk about it on his podcast. That’s where the agents and GMs have their head at regarding this. You wanna hope Kenny Lawler is under the Christmas tree when you wake up tomorrow, go ahead.

2024/2025 CFL (non-Bomber) Off-Season Thread

I do really like Mitchell, to be honest. I think if we put him at X, he’s going to be a problem. -
I’m not discounting it, you’re putting way too much weight into it. Pretty much every talking point about it outside of Paul Friesen has been that it’s a non-starter to give any of these free agents more money.

Yeah, I’m not torn up about anyone other than maybe Lawler leaving. I’ll feel okay about that one if Wilson comes back or if we find another camp star. -
You can cling to this hope all you want that we are maybe going to bring back Kenny. I’m not wrong. You think teams are just waiting for this magical “exclusive window” to begin? “hold on, let’s hold our cap space hostage until the magic window opens” If Kenny or any other free agent (Metchie actually did this, it was reported) gave their old team an extended amount of time to try and make a contract work that matched what they were getting from a new team, that’s already happened. Walters isn’t waking up tomorrow to find a sack of cash under his pillow that he can suddenly use.
-
I fully grasp what the stated intention is. I’m telling you it doesn’t work like that. Go back and look at last year. Free agency week was the tampering week. You can pretend that this illusion of a negotiating window does something to the publicly agreed upon deals. It doesn’t. None of these players that have “agreed to terms” with new teams are taking these offers to their old teams. That includes Kenny.
-
We moved on before signing Sterns. We moved on the minute he agreed to terms with Hamilton.
-
I think we need to cut the illusion that there’s any kind of exclusive negotiating period. There’s like three agents that cover all these guys, *if* Winnipeg says hey Kenny we’re gonna offer you more, Hamilton would know right away and say ok Kenny, wait until free agency and WE can offer more too. There’s also just the ripple effect. If we offer Kenny more, does Schoen now say hey wait a minute here. Do we now have to cut Reggie or Sterns? Give them less of a fair shot in camp? That’s not good business either.
-
I don’t think this new money is affecting anything in the way we think it is You would’ve seen a report that SOMEONE was considering not signing the deal they agreed to, but you haven’t The agents don’t want to touch this one, the general managers aren’t going to either … and quite honestly, it makes sense. The CFL is a small league and if you use this money to screw over another team, it won’t be long before it comes back around

… do you think he’s running a football team or a safe haven for under appreciated athletes? what kind of ridiculous take is this
