  1. I really don’t get what Boston is doing here. It is like they have no plan and are flying by the seat of their pants. They trade away Dougie Hamilton who could be their potential #1 D-Man of the future. They trade him away for a 1st rounder and 2 - 2nd rounders. Hamilton signs in Calgary to a 6 year $34.5M contract for an AAV of $5.75M Then they realize they don’t have a #1 D-Man and try to trade for one at the draft. Can’t get one. So they decide they are going to try and sign Trouba away. They have to do it for a minimum of $46M over 7 years for an AAV of $6.7M. And to do this they would have to give up 4 - 1st round draft picks. Trouba’s best season was his rookie season where he had 10G 19A for 29 points. He has been going down since then. Hamilton’s best season was last year where he scored 12G 31A for 43 points, and he scored 42 points in the prior season. Although you do have to give Trouba the advantage in +/-, hits, and blocks. Not sure who is going to be the better D-Man down the road, but if you want a corner stone #1 D-Man, so far it looks like Hamilton will give you the better offensive numbers to do that. Trouba would definitely be more physical. He could also end up producing more once he gets out of the shadow of Byfuglien and Myers, but he really hasn’t shown this yet. So to summarize you traded away your future #1 D-Man for a 1st rounder and 2 - 2nds and he ended up signing for an AAV of $5.75. You want to give up 4 - 1st rounders for Trouba and sign him to an AAV of about $6.7M I’d seriously consider taking the picks, and that would continue the curse that every Jets Jersey I buy, ends up getting traded away (hello Ladd, Bogosian, and Trouba).
  2. For the stats I keep, I count a "new year" from December to November so it coincides with the end of the Grey Cup. From a pure number of posts, we are pretty much exactly where we were last year. The month of June is down, but we also had a busier off season. In fact our busiest period ever was June and July of 2014, which also happens to coincide with the 5 - 1 start we had that year. The rest of that year took a slide as we plummeted back to reality. I can pretty much directly graph how busy this site gets to the Bombers record. The better the record, the more visits and activity we have typically seen. We are way busier after a win than a loss. As to content, I agree with Mr Dee's post. As moderators, we can try to facilitate and promote discussion through how the site is run and rules enforced, but a community like this is really driven by its membership. Always open to suggestions and ideas on how we can make things better, but the site is ultimately a reflection of its Membership. On a personal note, when I visit the site, I've noticed I tend to look at the NHL and General forums before diving into the Bomber forum. I suspect though that would change if the Bombers ever start putting up a winning record.
  3. It would be easier for me if you filled out the poll, then I can pull most of the picks from one place!
  4. I don't think we've officially announced this yet, but the prize for the Lock of the Week will be a 2015 replica helmet signed by Drew Willy.
  5. Forsberg - 21 years old - 4 years in the league, last year scored 33 goals 31 assists in 82 games. Scheifele - 23 years old - 5 years in the league, last year scored 29 goals 32 assists in 71 games. Scheifele is a centre, Forsberg has been playing wing. Is this where the Scheifele deal starts?
  6. I agree they would have signed Connor regardless. Don't want to risk losing him to that NCAA loophole and as an organisation you want him in your development program as soon as it makes the most sense. So many problems with NCAA players not even being able to attend rookie camp / training camp unless they pay their own way. I also think there is a reasonable chance that Connor starts with the Moose this year. When you look at what players would have to clear waivers, and what players he would have to beat out, not sure there is room for him. With Ehlers, Laine, Perreault, as your top 3 LW, I don't think you keep him with the Jets to get 4th line minutes. His development would be much better served playing top line with the Moose.
  7. Your not really comparing apples to apples with Eichel. They were the same draft year, same age. Eichel played in the NHL last year, Connor didn't. Connor scored more points at a year older. Think you are over estimating him if you expect him to step in to a top 6 role.
  8. Connor
  9. Tough week last week with all the majority picks losing. Standings can be seen below. Picks need to be in by 6:00PM Thursday this week.
  10. And our last pick is traded away. Weird trade. Must be no one we wanted or deferring picks to lighten the amount of contracts we may need to carry.
  11. Homers. Most picks on draft day are 'good' or a 'steal'. Top picks can be questioned or deemed a reach ... who really knows these late rounds.
  12. Round 6: Russian Goalie Mikhail Berdin
  13. Round 5 selection: C - Jordan Stallard 6'2" 187 http://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2016/5/18/11700100/2016-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-jordy-jordan-stallard
  14. Jets loading up on D men this draft. Round 3 selection: D (shoots right) - Luke Green http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=195389 Round 4 selection: D (shoots right) - Jacob Cederholm http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=169012
  15. Interesting ... 6.5M salary, only next year remaining. Will be a cap hit of 1.5M this year and 2.5M next year. They already have $10M in cap room. This increases it to about $15M. Their RFAs are Dumba, Schroeder, Zuker, and Dalpe. Making room for UFA or to pay their RFAs?
  16. Yep, will add picks for games that haven't started.
  17. These two posts of your really contradict one another. First you say that most parents are so protective of their children, they wouldn't let them sleep over at any adult they didn't know very well. Makes sense. Then you suggest that parents would send their kids to a stranger for money because he was only accused, not an abuser, but would pay up. The reasonable thing ... The common sense thing ... Would be not to send your kid at all. So we can throw common sense out It seems to me, if we used common sense, if a parent really cared so little about their kid as to send them to a stranger for the sole purposes of extorting them, even with there being rumours and suggestions of abuse, they didn't really care either way if their kids were abused. They were only interested in the money.
  18. It would really depend on who the Jets are after in the draft. One thing for sure in that trade you suggested. I would consider Werenski but not Murray. Werenski is exempt from the expansion draft. Murray is not. If we get Murray we are then losing him or Myers in expansion, barring other trades.
  19. They had an interesting discussion on TSN1290 the other morning, comparing the choice between Laine and Puljujärvi as similar to the 2004 draft when Ovechkin and Malkin went 1 and 2. Now who knows if these Fins will ever match what these two have done, but with the benefit of hindsight, who would you pick between Ovechkin and Malkin.
  20. Morrissey would have to be protected. He will have finished his 2nd year as a pro for this expansion. Year after that, he would be eligible under these rules. Petan as well. Petan isn't even a regular NHLer yet though.
