  1. We tried to make up talent difference in receivers signing Mtchell (130k), Sterns and white 105k, and adding Logan. On defense we added Vaughtner to strength the dline and Jones for Lbs, none of which worked out because once again we went for the perceived bargains. Which was my point we didnt really strengthen anything
  2. Curious that this offseason the same thought process went though two teams at the opposite ends of the western conference The elks with Gino Lewis (Ed Hervey with his there are no superstars in cfl, no reciever is worth that), and us with the decision to go cheaper and utilize that cap space to strengthen elsewhere. In our case it blew up in a lot of ways, turns out Lawler is proving hes worth it and the free agent moves we did of a bunch of midlevel players had 0 impact. Had we utilized that cap space for an impact player on d, or even to retain Dobson or Ford - but hindsight is 50/50 as is the fact that OShea/Walters failed badly and its showing in results
  3. Our defense is decent but has some glaring weaknesses We run a 3/4 line, but when we rush a lb, no real effort to disguise. With only 3 down linemen offensive line adjusts easily The lack of physicality puts us at a disadvantage, qbs will hang in there, receivers are rarely punished, one of the reasons we dont get turnovers. Adding J Jones would help us at wil or ml (Smaller dbs, and dt that mainly just try to maintain position contribute. Sask with Milligan,Sayles and Reaves as well as Rose and Johnson are way more intimidating)
  4. we knew what we had in Adams and Woods as mentioned they played all of last year, so if they aren't good enough then why didn't we do anything about it? I think we only brought in 1 additional dt at training camp. We haven't added anyone to our practice roster t
  5. Just watch the labor day game, 5 dt, 7 defensive plays including a huge pass knockdown, and a forced fumble.
  6. Rewatch some games, Kyrie is the guy hitting the back as he hits the line of scrimmage, dbs have more tackles mainly means that passes have been completed in their area. I dont get the criticism of our lbs, they are the one area we are strong
  7. Have you been watching the games, other than Jones Wilson is our best runstopper and it isn't even close. He's consistently the first one to the ball carrier to hold them to limited yardage and can actually tackle. I agree we need to give Shay and particularly Smith reps maybe move griffin/kramdi to safety for those and have one of them come in for downs with 4 linebacker sets
  8. One of J Jones attributes id being able to lay hard hits, Wilson and Jones tackle just as well but dont punish the ball carrier Something that we lack , against both Sask and Calgary they were much more physical
  9. we need to see what we have in Wilson, we are so afraid to put in untested players, that when we have no choice we have no idea how they will do. And the player himself is going in blind. Im not saying he should start, but we should have a pkg that we can put him in for. Especially if Strev isnt moving the ball, we cant afford to let him work it out
  10. Probably feels as much guilt as you do about that post
  11. Our interior dline was very good in the labor day game, including Jake. Lawson is getting back to the form that we hoped he would prior to his injury. Opposing offenses have not been able to run up the middle, Riders runs that did anything were around the edge mostly with Vaughtner losing contain. I didn't think we'd be effective at all with the three Non imports but I was wrong. The mistake we made though was still not having Adams or Woods rostered, in that 6 dline isn't enough and when Smeckle got hurt we were really against it.
  12. To me the main issue is the lack of viable alternatives weve had. An oline man goes down and we need to go to an import ,Same with Kramdi. They feel that Adams/Woods aren't good enough but who else do we have.We havent had a decent backup db and no de on the pr We,ve started Kody Case, Kornelson, Weitz, Corcoran (who we seem to try to use like a Bailey despite not having the ability or build) Theres enough blame to go around The good news is weve finally added Houston, Wilson now if we can dig up an olineman , and Texacada works out theres hope
  13. is there some rule or something that we cant sign a corner thats over 5 ft 8?
  14. in the past OShea has let the players figure it out and when questioned about adjustments needed would simply say the player will figure it out, maybe its time to coach
  15. A look at their offseason signings/ moves explains a lot, even taking the adams acquisition out: Acquired Orimolade - an all cfl end Green - Starting Canadian corner Webb - all cfl db (impact on their secondary similar to when we first got Alexander) T Jones, - dependable low cost reciever Rhymes - the list goes on Compare that to Mitchell,White,Logan, Jones, Hagarty, Vaughters etc.
  16. Likely they were looking at the whole team, we had spent a disproportionate ount on offence esp at reciever and needed to adjust, this was prior to extra 400k being announced. they gambled on Schoen returning to form As head coach OShea was looking at the whole team.in setting priorities, didnt anticipate that most of their free agent finds would suck
  17. If hes hurt again this time, there was very little contact which is scary in and of itself
  18. Something else that is disturbing is the amount of players that we signed coming off of injuries. Schoen Vaughters Makonzo Hagarty, and now Moore. I get it that they are likely cap freindly but its a high risk that we are now paying for.
  19. I agree, Zach outplayed Harris, just imagine if he actually got decent protection, our guards were shown to be slow and outmatched. Our defense played well enough to win. two things cost us the game 1. the aforementioned offensive line 2. Coaching; -what oc calls on 2nd and inches a play for a deep drop back against a dline thats owned us?. - how do we roster only 6 dlinemen? Of course one gets injured and by the 4th qtr they are running on fumes * we have the best all around running back in the league and we don't use him. We seem to have a history of when up against a strong dline of giving up on the run. (ie Toronto ly) and we lose every time. - its pretty obvious Logan isn't ready and we play him rather than another db or Adams/Woods
  20. In watching the calgary rider game Stamps had good success running end arounds and short passes to the sidelines. Riders are very strong down the middle run stopping.
  21. Woli is a tigercat, enough of silly speculation
  22. As long as the bonus doesnt kick in til past the nfl window. Paying him a big bonus just to play the remainder of this season may not make sense
  23. Preseason doesn't count, when the real bullets are flying hes been a liability. too slow , taking penalties, and hasn't shown good hands 3 strikes and ...
  24. He could still end up on GB pr, probably likely
  25. We dont make the schedule, only thing we can say is Stamps are better than us right now. Next two games will tell the story
