  1. He's getting a full pay check without any risk of injury. That's not a bad gig. So far neither have declined to be extended on the 1 game IR. I don't understand why he's not on the AR though in place of Ayers most probably.
  2. That may be true about Clercius but as I pointed out we aren't getting much output in any case. So I'm suggesting we'd improve overall with Mitchell in at WR and him at SB. Now if we want to use Corcoron or Cobb in that role, I'd fine with that as well. In 3 of his 5 games he and 14 or less yards for the game. His best game was the 1st game against the Stamps. Bumping Vaval might happen anyway due to injury this week. So the suggestion of Case bumped to a returner role and back up receiver works for me too.
  3. I don't get the revenue sharing as a direct line to an SMS increase. When a company earns a profit there may be some bonus program for that year. It doesn't carry forward forever. Either way I would have thought the CFLPA would have had some sort of specific plan to create the concept of revenue sharing. As far as the Bombers using an increased SMS on the 1 game IR: Yes and no. Look at other teams 1 game IR and ours is very small in comparison. The complaint is that Mitchell and J. Jones were two expensive free agency acquisitions and can't make the AR.
  4. Why not move Clercius into a SB position. His output is not huge and he should be add some weight in blocking assignments. Then add Mitchell at WR since the comments are that he can only play WR. If that means taking out one of Sterns or Case, then so be it. OTOH I'm not sure if Vaval misses a game or two due to possible concussion issue. If that happens Case could remain on the roster until either Logan or Vaval is healthy. The reality is that we aren't getting huge output from Sterns, Case or even Clercius. Adding Mitchell might give us more ability to stretch the field and have more YAC.
  5. I was trying to watch Thomas as much as possible to see how ineffective he was. he made one tackle ( from chase mode ) for about a 7 yard running play. The other one was where the RB essentially ran into him and a crown at the LOS. So I didn't see much that impressed me about him in particular or the front 4 in total. We gave up 100 yards rushing and gave Adams too much time to throw. The saving grace is that aside from a couple of big pass plays he didn't do much. OTOH, he didn't need to .
  6. The fake injury players go to 1 game IR. No point putting him on the 6 game IR unless he is actually can't play or practice.
  7. Not sure where you're going with that comment. In any case it should mean we removed the 2nd global choice for a Canadian( Oliveria ).
  8. Different situation entirely. Collaros had to be added to the AR to come off the suspended list. It was mentioned that paper shuffle was necessary to maintain the roster size limit. Nothing like that needs to happen this week. Players on IR or PR are not part of the 45 man AR at the moment.
  9. Woods is on the 6 game IR so he's not an option. Even if he comes off early it will take some time to get up to game speed and conditioning.
  10. Is that a 1 year lease or 2 year lease and how big is the condo
  11. I'd hate to lose him and don't understand why he's not on the AR. As much as I like Ayers I'd bump him to PR and put Jones on the AR. At some point we can't keep putting players on the 1 game IR that aren't injured. The SMS cost adds up quickly. For that matter I'd cut a couple off the PR and move shuffle the rosters a bit.
  12. It's about where they might be used. Bailey could see some duty in rotation at DE where we are thin as is gets. Weitz is not going to see any action on defence. I'm not even sure he will play on ST's. We have seen him in 7 games last year. We traded up to bet Bailey as the 2nd pick in the draft. That and what the coaches have said about him and how much they liked him. So it's a bit more than just opinion. So any option to see time at DE is a bonus especially if we end up needing someone there.
  13. I don't think any other team was going to offer him that kind of money. Winning is nice but who is to say where the Elks end up at the end of the season. Bombers didn't start off 2024 very well and still ended up in the Grey Cup. That said we play them next week and need to dig the hole deeper for them.
  14. Castillo, Vaval, Ayers and Griffin will be the DI's.
  15. Nah. He's got a giant paycheck and is the highest paid DB in the CFL. Playing with his brother is small advantage. Short CFL career and it's good to take the money when you can.
  16. No. Lawler signed in Hamilton before we knew the SMS went up. That happened on 02/12. Every team might have tried harder to retain some players they lost in free agency if they knew more money was available.
  17. 3 receptions for 21 yards. You really want to use that as a metric? lol
  18. Yup. It doesn't make sense. Roster declared. 4 players moved to 1 game IR including J. Jones and D. Mitchell. Lofton to 6 game IR which I expected unfortunately. That leaves combined depth on OL suspect with Neufeld also nicked. No other import OL retrained on PR. It they knew Lofton was out long term why did they make that choice?
  19. I'd like to see him in a game but what he might bring is wishful thinking we see early in most seasons. I understand what he might bring in those types of play calls on offence. I also understand that eliminating a downfield receiver brings the defence closer to the LOS. That's a concern even above what it does with the ratio. It's not like we can't do those things with Peterson. Being able to rotate him with a slot is not the same as replacing him with a RB on every down.
  20. Would you expect Cooley to rotate with a receiver or Oliveria? Again the point is that if Cooley is a DI we lose one import on defence. I don't see the trade off in taking out Vaval or any other defensive player to get Cooley on as a DI. IDK. Maybe Cooley is everything some posters think he might be. Too small a sample and none of it against 1st string defenses.
  21. Last year was last year and we often started 9 Canadians. For game 1 we're probably down to 7. If Kelly and Mazonko weren't injured I'd be ok without a DB as a DI. That plus he was getting the work as the returner. Others had some reps but he was getting the most. It doesn't guarantee that sticks but I'm guessing it does until Logan returns. Noting that our early season returns were not that good and musical chairs. Vaval played a lot at DB in pre-season and practice. It's debatable whether we need him as a DB but a fair argument / question. Posters seem to get excited about a new RB they want on the AR. Maybe Cooley is that guy, but is he a better option than any of the 3 receivers ( excluding Schoen ). Yes, it's a possibility but I'd be surprised. I see Lofton confirmed as out but Neufeld is now questionable. That changes things possibly both LG and RG. Vanterpool might have been choice 1 at LG ( still might be ). Who lines up where is now flip a coin. 3 import OL means we lose that extra import on defence. Still curious who you think are the 2 other DI's, with or without Vaval on the AR as a DI assuming one of the starting receivers does the returns.
  22. We'd like 2 import DT's but I don't see it happening. Wilson, Jones, Jones, Ayers and Griffin with only 2 starters and 2 DI spots available. If Vanterpool doesn't dress we get one import that dresses instead. I've suggested that would be Griffin. Person is another choice as a DI. So if 1 of the Jones and Wilson are starting, pick your 2 other DI's besides Castillo and Vaval? As I've suggested Vaval would also be depth at DB. Using a different returner doesn't resolve that issue. Cooley would be a luxury with Oliveria getting virtually every touch. The other DI choices would see the field often in rotation. I guess we'll see the depth chart tomorrow.
  23. I think Vaval has to be on the roster as DB depth. In that sense he sticks as the returner until Logan is ready. Woods, Vanterpool and Ayers come off IMO. If we start Vanterpool, that creates a problem and we can't afford to lose Griffin as depth at SAM. Not sure what you meant about Weitz for Wallace? I think Bailey in for Weitz because he will be depth at DE. Don't need another LB in Weitz.
  24. That's the issue. We don't know when or if Kelly or Makonzo might be available. That's disappointing because our depth at DB in general is thin as a result. Kelly was getting a lot of reps in 2024 and I would think Makonzo would have as well this year. Laval will be on the AR as a returner while Logan is out. Griffin is the back up at SAM but is essentially a DB cover guy too.
  25. Maybe. We can't keep all those import LB's on the AR. Who gets moved and to where is a giant question at the moment. LOL. Yes but it was against the Riders and they suck.
