The entire Royal family really sharpened their claws & fangs for Lady Diana. What a shameful display of elite snobbery & constitutional entitlement they all showed. She was never going to be accepted by the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret & the Queen. While she may have understood the tribulations she went thru with Charles she still was cold & distant while clutching the British Constitution close to her chest.

I'd put Allen right up there with Flutie & Moon. -

Okay Colin, your theory is full of holes. matter of fact, it's pretty dumb. There's usually not another qb ready to go. Then the team with no qb goes into the dumpster when the veteran leaves... Which we've seen so many times. How often have we seen a team fall apart because they don't have a qb ready to go when a veteran qb retires? How many teams can afford to pay for two great qbs on their roster with the salary cap?? Just look around the CFL & figure it out. You know the teams that have collapsed over the last 10 years. Ottawa, Saskatchewan, Calgary, Montreal (after Calvillo), Edmonton (after Reilly), Hamilton, the Bombers of a decade ago... How many qbs play at a high level for 10 years let alone 23? Only one that I know of & he won 4 Grey Cups with 3 different teams but who wasn't a first ballot HOF'er. As far as your Vernon Adams comparison goes. A pretty good qb but Allen had won at least one Grey Cup title & maybe two if you compare both careers of the two players at the same time period in their careers. So, that doesn't fly either. Another thing, when Allen played for the Eskimos, the Stamps were the juggernauts of the Western Conference with Flutie, Garcia & Dickenson as their starting qbs. Twice Allen came into McMahon Stadium for the WDF & beat the heavily favoured Stamps as the Eskimos starting qb in 1993 & for the Lions in 2000. Then he beat the Bombers in 1993 that season to win the GC. As much as I'm a Bomber fan holding out hope saying had Dunigan played in that GC in 93 we'd have won, there's no guarantee that would have happened. Even though we'd like to think so. We'll never know. Yep, there goes Damon Allen. Former leading passer prior to Anthony Calvillo in the CFL with over 72,381 yards in the air, 394 touchdown passes & almost 11,920 yards rushing with another 93 touchdown on the ground, That's 487 touchdowns Allen had a hand in either throwing the ball or running. An undefeated GC champion. Won championships with Edmonton twice as well as BC & Toronto. A 3 time CFL Grey Cup MOP (87, 93 & 04) & one CFL MOP Award in 2005. He was a CFL Eastern Division All Star in 1991, 1998 & 2005. He was an All Canadian in 1999 & 2005. As well as a CFLPA All Star in 1999 & 2005. Yep, just the most overrated qb who obviously got his stats because he played so long in the CFL because some fans say so. They also say he was just an average guy who got lucky. You keep thinking that, Colin & Noeller. -

You absolutely & I'm saying this with about as much respect as I can without being insulting... but you know nothing about what you speak. Being a first ballot HOF'er is nothing but politics about a very political institution. Being a first ballot HOF'er has more to do with popularity among the selection committee judges than performance on the field. How can someone like Hank Burris make it in on the first ballot & not Damon Allen? How is it that Pinball Clemons never made it as a first ballot HOF'er? Does that mean that Clemons exploits on the field mean less because he wasn't voted in on the first ballot? Robert Drummond & Craig Ellis have never made it. Neither has QB Joe Zuger or Cornerback Joe Hollimon. Oh & Doug Brown never made it on the first ballot either, so according to your logic, Brown's career must be diminished because he never made it into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot. The CFHOF Selection Committee is a joke. It has been a joke for years. It's all based on popularity or the players the judges liked/disliked when they played against, watched or covered them in the media., Induction is not always based on their on field exploits. I have no doubt that Allen deserved to have been there on the first ballot but it never happened. But to me, the problem with the Hall of Fame isn't the players who are in there but the players who aren't & why? -
Phillip seemed to believe that once Elizabeth became Queen that he should have become King & he should have been making all decisions not Elizabeth. He hated walking behind her in public. That they weren't equals according tho the British Constitution. He didn't like being known as her Consort. He didn't like the title of Prince. Also, he gave up his naval career to marry her & he felt over the years that was too much of a sacrifice he made for her. I don't think, knowing what he later knew, that he would have ever done it again. He was miserable for 60 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if his agent did some preliminary work to see what the market would be for Evans as a starter for some teams. He may have talked to them about his client potentially signing as the starter & the interest may not have been very high. -

I still remember Jim barker trying to calm him down on the sidelines of the 2019 Grey Cup as he totally melted down. Nothing Barker could say or do calmed him down. That was damned epic. -
lAbout this time last year, the Jets went into their tailspin before crashing in the playoffs. I'm assuming (hoping?) that the same thing won't happen again this year. That with Wheeler & Dubois gone, the cancer has been removed & we continue having a great season. With those guys gone, other leaders can now step up.

I read his retirement statement. Two things I took from what he said. One, he was fed up playing. Two, he wants to coach. He had lost the desire to play. The guy had many setbacks as a starter & I think it took all the fun out of playing for him. It sucked the life out of him as a player. -

He just couldn't handle the pressures of being a starter. He was happy being a backup to Vernon Adams. It's too bad as he had some talent but I never saw the Eye of the Tiger with him. I guess not everyone can be like Matt Dunigan who loved the spotlight & still does. -
No, she talked to an ambulance chasing lawyer & they hatched a plan.

Look at other HOF qbs from the 50's & 60's with their completion averages, interceptions & TD passes. Especially Ron Lancaster. His nimbers weren't great yet he made it. -

So, that meant Allen was better than the guys younger than him at qb. They couldn't beat him out. As an older veteran Allen competed against & beat defensive players a decade younger or more than him. This longevity excuse is BS. I've heard it said when he still played & never bought in. Allen played as there was no one better. No head coach is going to play someone who can't get the job done. He played because he won. What is a "middling passer"? -
I wouldn't want to be in the same room with this woman when someone tells her Colonel Sanders died 43 years ago.

This may be the best place for this discussion as we've all talked about the hard head of Mikr O'Shea in the past with some of the decision making he's made especially after losing the Grey Cup again. I watched the Cowboys - Lions game last night. Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell went for the two point convert to win the game three times rather than kick the convert to tie & go into overtime. Anyone see a lot of Mike O'Shea in Dan Campbell? Just the stubborness of the guy. To go for it 3 straight times & fail. That is exactly something our Head Coach would do. And then bristle & sneer when questioned or criticized after we lost.

Sure he can but Allen knew more about the game in general than Ford does now at the same time in their careers. Ford needs quality coaching from Jarious Jackson to catch up. -

Allen, Dunigan & Ham were the qbs in Edmonton in 1987. Imagine that? IIRC, Dunigan started the 87 Grey Cup & went out with an injury late in the first half. Allen came off the bench & beat the heavily favoured Argos that day. The Esks let Dunigan go to free agency & Allen took over. He never looked back as a starter. Some fans say that he was a **** qb his entire career when he wasn't. Do you know how hard it is to win 4 Grey Cups on 4 different teams? Four different head coaches, Four different OC's. Four different playbooks. Four different sets of teammates. Four different sets of talent. Four different cultures on every team. Second in all time CFL passing yards at 72,381 yards & 394 touchdown passes. He also rushed for 11,914 yards. -

No idea why fans like Noeller always put down what Allen did as a qb in the CFL. Second all time leading passer in CFL history behind Anthony Calvillo. Four time Grey Cup champion with 3 different teams. Played 22 years at a high level. He did what he was paid to do. Win. And win he did. Tre Ford would be lucky to have a career where he wins a single Grey Cup. Forget about 4. Allen went 22-2 as a high school starting qb in Los Angeles& signed with Cal State Fullerton. Ford was recruited by a number of U Sports football teams but only Waterloo said he would play qb so he signed with them. So, there were questions about his ability as a qb going back to HS. Meanwhile, Allen was one of the top high school qbs in the State of California. Why do I mention that? Noeller just said if Allen can be something then Ford could as well. Right now, there's really no comparison between the passing ability of Ford compared to Allen. What I see from Ford is what I've seen from every running qb who has ever come up to the CFL. A run first mentality. If a couple of receivers are covered he takes off. He doesn't have the time (or perhaps the patience) to go thru his reads because his OL is bad. So, it's not all his fault. However, a problem OL will hinder his development as a qb. Now, Ford may develop into a first rate CFL qb eventually but we'll see. He has a long way to go. He could do well being coached by Buck or Jordan Maksymic. But we all saw how bad Derek McAdoo was. It's not just coaching. It's also the quality of coaching as well. I just don't know if a HC like Chris Jones has the patience to wait. -

I watched a CFL game from late August on TSN the week. It was the week before LD. Elks vs RedBlacks. Ford can run but he can't throw. He still had 250 yards passing because the RedBlacks secondary is just terrible. Receivers were WIIIIIDE OPEN all over the place. Watching the RedBlacks play is just torture. I can't get over how bad that team is. How the hell did we ever lose to that garbage team??
