  1. The guys that don't start but do stick around play special teams. I could be wrong but it's my understanding that Richards doesn't. Am I incorrect there, Mike? Does Richardson play specials?
  2. Being cut is punishment for not producing. I'm saying it's time for Richardson to produce. If he can't show he belongs then he should go. Being on the Bombers should be based solely on merit & not nationality. Or trying to prove that the Bombers didn't make a mistake drafting Richards. The team isn't punishing itself if it decides it's time to move on. They simply have moved on. I just want to add that based on Walter's performance drafting players, I don't think many fans are going to be critical if Richards is cut if he fails to live up to the coaches expectations this year. By then, he'll have had 3 training camps & 2 full seasons (albeit injured mostly) to prove he is a CFL player. Hopefully he can show something this years to be kept around. It's hard to be critical of a GM who has drafted guys like Matthias Goosen, Sukh Chungh & Taylor Loffler. Our Nationals situation is light years ahead of where it was in 2013.
  3. I hope he doesn't have another year. This should be it for him. he has to perform in training camp & the exhibition season. For once, Richardson actually needs to prove he belongs. No more free passes. I know he's been injured but other players don't get that luxury. Third season now. Time to show what he's got.
  4. Sure, some guys play a long time but they're journeymen. Bouncing from one team to another. They make a very good living as they have the skill set to help a team as a fourth line centre, winger or defenseman. Look at Dennis Wideman in Calgary. He's made a career of being a borderline NHL defenseman. So, some guys do make it a career but most don't. Anyway, you & I disagree & that's fine. You look at things differently than I do. I have no problem with that. Probably time to move on before our conversation becomes a merry go round.
  5. You do a lot of memes. Some good, some not so good. But this one you posted hit it out of the park.
  6. Don't like what I saw of the Klingons briefly. Did they have another some other calamity that changed them prior to TOS?? (Sarcasm). Don't understand why Hollywood is so eager to change what has worked in the past. Add to the history & the characters as well as the different alien races. Or in this case, delve into the past to explain the present. Don't change them. Yet, they did.
  7. As GM, Chevey sets the budget in the areas he wants to spend & I imagine Chipman signs off on it. So, that would be Chevy. Players get paid to win. They don't win then they don't last. Contracts do reflect that.
  8. I have no idea what Chipman & Chevy were thinking about our goaltending situation with Hellebuyck as Chipman would defer to Cheveldayoff who is The Invisible Man as far as being GM of the Jets. If you think professional athletes get paid to play & not win then you're pretty naïve. Pro athletes have a short window of time to perform or they're gone. The careers of their coaches & GM's are on the line so he has to produce. Helle has this upcoming season to show he belongs. If he struggles again, he'll be sent down to the Moose, or conceivably traded away & someone else will take his place.
  9. Pro players get paid to win & not play. If they don't they won't play long. The only way an owner holds his GM accountable if he doesn't win is to fire him. Think Chipman is even remotely close to doing that? I don't. Even if the Jets have another losing season. One playoff season in 7? How can you even compare Stan Bowman to Cheveldayoff?
  10. I enjoy it too but if the person doing the reporting is so far out to lunch that people laugh at him then why bother?
  11. Seems there are fans that just like to watch but don't know much about the game itself. Then there are other fans who are knowledgeable & know what they are looking at. The former shouldn't be making TC reports.
  12. I don't know why people wouldn't expect the goalie the Jets braintrust named as #1 to be able to win consistently. That's what he's getting paid for. To win. Again, this is on the Jets for totally overblowing what they thought they had with Hellebuyck. There's no accountability from ownership when it comes to brain farts by our GM. he seems to have a free pass to virtually be invisible. It's only another year wasted, what's the problem, it seems? No worries as the fans won't complain too much. What's to say Cheveldayoff still sits on his ass again this summer? Just like he does the other 9-10 months of the year. What will Chipman do? I think probably nothing.
  13. Smackdown needs Shane McMahon to be very visible along with Daniel Bryant. Just like Raw needs Stephanie McMahon & Triple H to get lost permanently along with more Curt Angle. Those alone will increase ratings. Stephanie has been gone since early April but we know she'll be back along with her hubby at some point soon.
  14. Jinder did okay in the ring with Styles on Smackdown. Mahal kind of made it believable although Styles certainly jobbed for him & made him look good. The ending was the only way it could go leading into Mahal's PPV on Sunday with Randy Orton.
  15. Man hugs.
  16. I don't know. You take a simple quote I said & then make a huge deal about it when the point was about Trestman working with Drew Willy to perhaps make him into a great CFL qb. You win. You got me. I screwed up. I admit that I made a mistake on the AC timeline. Horror of horrors, I effed up. Imagine, what an embarrassment making a mistake like that in front of everyone here like I did. I feel just terrible right now.
  17. That's on Cheveldayoff for the most part. He & Maurice obviously thought he could handle it. Then our GM did nothing as the season went on. Nothing. I'm not huge on Helle as I've seen a lot of goalies come & go with different NHL teams over the years. If he capable of stepping up then he will. if not, we'll find out. Big season coming up for him in 17-18.
  18. Okay whatever but AC's best years were still with Trestman. His years in Hamilton were losing seasons. He has said on multiple occasions he was ready to quit when he left the Ti Cats until he went to the Als. He went 8-10 (1995), 8-10 (1996) & 2-16 (1997) with the Ti Cats. Calvillo gives a ton of credit to Trestman for designing an offense that really suited his style of play. My point is can Trestman turn Willy's career around? That's the million dollar question, isn't it?
  19. He's shown he can play in the NHL. Yeah, I'll give him that. But he hasn't shown to be an elite goalie. Or that he can carry the load like other goaltenders in the league. For all we know he may ultimately show that he's a career backup.
  20. I remember AC was ready to pack it in after his years in Hamilton. He had lost all his confidence & credits playing behind Tracy Ham as well as Trestman for making him a better qb. He certainly had a great later career while with the Als.
  21. Can Marc Trestman pull Drew Willy off the scrap heap the same way he did Anthony Calvillo? Not a better qb coach to learn the game from as a qb than Trestman. We'll see as the jury is still out on Willy. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/05/16/willy-ready-for-whatever-comes-with-argos
  22. That's the same thing just worded differently, IMO. A rookie always gets paid less than a veteran. The Ti Cats want to go younger & cheaper at the SB position so Watt was released.
  23. It's his veteran status. He got paid more because of the number of years he played. The Ti Cat want to go younger & cheaper.
