Around The League Off Season Discussion
SpeedFlex27 replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It could happen. Especially the CFL's penchant to not having competition for the rights. Or letting TSN not distribute some games to other networks. The games should be on CTV or CBC as TSN is a cable network. But the CFL burned its bridges with CTV years ago... Although Bell Media are the owners now. -

In this TV deal but what about the next? With falling ratings maybe the future rightsholder whoever that is decides not to televise all the games. -

That will be difficult. The person following will have huge shoes to fill. -
Again, what do the Jets have to do with the Flames playing Anaheim?
-
Jets? The Flames are playing the Ducks not the Jets.

if you think they hibernate now on CJOB then they'd be buried with Jets coverage on 1290 TSN. What do you think would happen if the Jets & Bombers had games simultaneously? The Bombers would be relegated to a feed on their their webpage. Being on CJOB is still better than sharing 1290 TSN with the Jets. -
I just shake my head when it comes to the Flames in Anaheim. They haven't won there since 2004. Have gone 27 regular season games since a win. Flames fans will point out that they have won a game there since 2004. A playoff game in 2006 but they lost the series that year. So in essence, the Flames are 1-27. Like that makes a difference. This goes beyond bad luck. The Flames are soft. Don't have the on ice leadership, character or heart to say enough is enough & put an end to it. Last night they lost because they were undisciplined. No surprise they lost. Survey says Anaheim in 4. LOL! BTW, I hate Anaheim but the Flames are pathetic.

I read it gained about 2/3 back & is actually higher than it was than a year ago. The thing is, if people are upset with United but can get a deal on tickets will they still remain angry or will money talk & they fly that airline again? I think United is counting on the fact that savings will usurp anger.
-
It'll cost the CEO his job as he was so busy backtracking like a guy slipping on ice not going anywhere.
-
These airline companies don't care about their customers. Hope that passenger nails United with a multi million dollar lawsuit & wins. Teach these airlines a message.

Thanks for the recap.

Orridge to Step Down as Commissioner
SpeedFlex27 replied to Jimmy Pop's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
According to 3 Down Football, Orridge didn't take a lot of interest in the actual everyday workings of the CFL. He was more focused on the marketing side than the football side & after 2 years it really showed with all of the off & onfield problems. That just isn't right to concentrate on one side of the league at the expense of the other & like Mr Dee said, he just didn't get it. What a freaking waste hiring Orridge. Glad he's gone. He may have been the worst Commissioner we ever had. Worse even than that grumpy old bald guy they hired back in the early 90's. I think his name was Donald Crump if I'm not mistaken. There was a guy every camera mic hated. Crump The Grump. -

Just based on how he's totally effed up the league by being the head of officiating, please no. -
Orridge to Step Down as Commissioner
SpeedFlex27 replied to Jimmy Pop's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think the CFL should split the responsibilities. One, the Commissioner who is a football man. May have been a former GM, personnel director or coach. He liasons with teams, media & fans. His sole responsibility is to guide the league thru anything related to the onfield product from rosters to game situations. The other position would be CFL President or some other title. He works behind the scenes working on increasing revenues thru sponsorship & corporate deals. At times, they may work together on special projects like a new TV deal but generally they wouldn't. Instead of hiring a useless twit like Orridge who didn't seem to know anything about football & especially the CFL then name him Commissioner while being thrown headlong into the fire, split the duties but have a football guy handle the league, teams, media & fans. -

Guess Reigns is taking time off to do a movie with his "injuries" tonight.

I have read that Patterson wasn't an innocent party over the years & some wrestlers were afraid to be left alone with him in a room as they feared he'd sexually assault them. Being a veteran they also felt that if they complained their careers would be finished in the WWE. Not the nicest guy either when it came to hazing young wrestlers. I don't have any specific stories I can quote just things I've read over the years about Patterson.

I read his message on Instagram. He says he has problems with his head & body because of injuries. He didn't specify what, though. He also said that he feels this is the right time to leave & has no doubts or regrets. -

Agree. Ballsy move but if you have an employee that refuses to listen to the people he answers to & it's getting worse then there's no alternative but to fire him. The timing is bad but it is what it is. -

You realize you're talking about our GM, right? -
No, that's being an alarmist. This won't trigger a world war. Russia knows they'll be obliterated as do the Americans so there's a lot of rhetoric & bluster going on. Now that North Korean son of a *****? Yeah, that's a bad situation. If he actually launches a nuclear missile to attack Japan or even the Western US. That's what we should be truly worried about. He could trigger a world war.

Esks fans are lining up berating Rhodes on Esks Fans, 3 Down Nation & social media. They blame Rhodes for everything & talk like Ed Hervey was a saint when he wasn't. They say the Esks erected a big black fence years ago around their practice facility which bothered a lot of fans as they felt they didn't have access to watch their team anymore like they could before it was erected. Somehow that was Rhodes fault but not Hervey's even though both weren't around when it was built. Hervey was the GM. If he didn't like that fence & cared about the fans then as GM he could have torn it down & replaced it with something else so fans could watch. Clearly he didn't care about those same fans that seem to have his back here & are spitting mad about his firing. It's been reported that the team's BOD's never consulted football ops about the mic games last year & rather than agree, he felt that he had to back Maas who was dead set against it. Hervey's continuing stifling of media access to players means less stories in the local media yet Hervey didn't care much about that either. The way I see it, the guy was refusing to get along even with Rhodes & the directors of the team whom he answered to which generally doesn't end well for an underling trying to pull a power play. The Esks board hired Hervey & they chose to fire him. I bet he thought they'd never do that. He was wrong.
