I remember that commercial. I don't recall whether I liked it or not. It was awful though but that was the whole point of it. Anyway, I know Abalon advertises on CJOB & when I heard "foundation repair" I had to post this. Small business owners do strange things especially when that small business is struggling. Even in 1985, just $50,000 in sales revenue wasn't very good as foundation repairs aren't cheap. I loved the fact the guy went to the job sites in his dress shoes & casual jacket. Think he ever got his hands dirty or gave advice to the guys doing the work? I'll bet he never had one callous on his hands. But he was a cheesy singer. Whatever works, I guess. As far as Kevin Evans goes, I went to the 1986 Grey Cup in Vancouver. The night before we hit the bars downtown & I ran into him & Stan Kubichek. I had a couple of drinks & chatted with them both before we left & went somewhere else. Evans is like 5'4. Just a little guy. Is he even in the broadcast business anymore? I think he lives on the West Coast now. What about Stan? Anyone know?

Slow news day back in 1985.

Six million. One hundred thousand dollar increase every year for the life of the agreement.

The salary cap is too low to begin with. So, an adjustment needs to be made. Players should be making more money. More on the low end of the scale & less for the higher end.

Classic.

With a new CBA there has to be a major revisit of the salary cap. These dinky little incrememental increases every year don't help at all when trying to re-sign players. Wilder won't get an NFL job sitting at home so I think he'll eventually play.

You have the roster that competes on Raw & Smackdown. No brand extension. Then the roster not quite ready for prime time yet competing on a show like WWE All Stars or whatever that show used to be called. The ones on the bubble either drop down to NXT or the few that come up have to work hard to prove themselves. Not given prime time status like the women wrestlers have had with the NXT call ups... err... invaders.

Who'd have thought sledding was risky? Who knew???

I remember Canada's National Team. How we were supposed to host the World Hockey Championship in 1970 & then some rube from Hockey Canada in Ottawa had the great idea to pull our country out of it because we considered the Soviets professional hockey players & we couldn't send ours. The sad part is that Canada's team that year was actually very good & may have given the Soviets & Czechs a run for their money. We'll never know.

Annnnnd it turned out nice again...

I think it's totally possible he could be. Or his character rewritten that he is.

Bottom of the barrel? No, not that one. Spock's Brain (from the episode you quote) was bottom of the barrel. Not that episode.

Bob Irving had been tweeting about it.

Go back to 2 hours. Have only 1 show which would be Raw. Get rid of Smackdown. Only the best performers wrestle from both shows wrestle. Improve the writing. Don't have anymore invasions from NXT.

Again, thinking Rakeem Cato would be the answer instead of Durant is well.... not the answer. Cato was a headcase & never was very good. And again.... Durant did not sign to be the starter & he won't be.

Getting back to ST:Discovery. I think they find a way to keep Issacs & make him interesting as well. here's a thought... Was Lord Garth from a parallel universe? He went from being an honoured & decorated starship Captain to a crazed, sadistic killer seemingly very quickly. He would fit into the other universe. Was he an invader?

Orville, yes! Yes! Yes!!

Game 49 : Blue Thunder @ Jaws
SpeedFlex27 replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Just as long as the Jets outscore the teams they play, I'm good. -
They've done these shows before like the one thousand episode of Raw where the old heroes are trotted out & they beat down an opponent in a match like the DX segment. They used the same format tonight with the Dudleys. They'd have been better off having one or 2 less matches & use that time to show highlights of the past 25 years. Seeing guys ike Shawn Michaels or Scott Hall who can't wrestle anymore really doesn't do much.
-
When they suddenly cut away from Scott Hall coming out my first reaction was uh oh, he must be drunk. Then when they came back he looked & sounded fine. So, it was just bad timing.
-
The Undertaker segment was just strange.

How would you have liked to have bought Raw 25 tickets at the Manhattan Centre? What a waste of money for what they got. I sure do miss Ross & Lawler on the mic. Lawler is much more entertaining by himself than Booker & Graves together.

I remember a story about Thornton. He always felt he was the best qb on the Bomber roster but Bud Grant thought otherwise. The story goes that in 1964 when the Bombers won just a single game that season, he paid kids to walk around Winnipeg Stadium during one home game with signs proclaiming "We Want Thornton" on them. Or something like that. He was traded to the Argos in 1967.

Why can't the parallel universe Lorca die replaced with the one from our universe?
