I've heard a lot of different numbers as it pertains to Buff and not one term and dollars has made me say lets sign him. If he played with the passion and heart of a guy like Wheeler and with his talent he would be worth every penny of what he is asking for, but he doesn't . This team is no closer to competing for a playoff spot every year is they resign him and i think Chevy knows this.

Make no mistake about it the Canadian Dollar is going to be a big factor for all Canadian teams , if it goes any lower i can see the salary cap staying where it is. A lot of the NHL revenue comes from the Canadian teams and the dollar is going to hurt there bottom line if it stays low for the next few years.

If Chevy wants to trade Ladd and Buff being in a playoff spot will kills this plan, can't get rid of two players that have gotten you this far. So they miss the playoffs or get knock out in the first round again what do you have to show for it. You got two free agents that he doesn't want to give big money or long term to and they walk as free agents, sounds familiar. Missing the playoffs will be sad but in the long run it will help this team in the future.

Think Chevy has made up his mind about this team, knows it's not good enough, will let things play out, deal players at the deadline and collect a top 3 pick a the draft.

Ladd won't see big free agent dollars considering the year he is having Buff might ,if the Jets still have slightly lower offers on the table they should seriously consider signing.
