You media guys make it seem like GMs have all the power, but coaches always want at least some say in the roster. Some want a lot of say. (Ottawa Redblacks’ head coach) Paul LaPolice is one of those guys. This is pretty much what I expected. Lapo had a whole lot of control over the roster'd guys on our offense, and has been a HC and OC before. He isnt a big delegation guy. (Former Montreal Alouettes’ defensive line coach) Todd Howard was not fired because of a vaccination issue. I’m guessing somebody above him made him the fall guy to save their own job, which is usually the case when position coaches are fired midseason. I Liked howard when here, I was a bit worried he might be a vax guy but this is kind of encouraging and sad. I hate position coaches getting canned for stuff out of their control. Howard is a good DL coach im sure he will bounce back. Remember a couple weeks ago when Ottawa moved (backup quarterback) Taryn Christion from the practice roster to the one-game (injured list)? That’s because another team tried to claim him off the practice roster. This is really interesting. The guy is a really high end prospect, and super athletic. Its interesting that they had to move him and he didnt just reject it. Im guessing that they werent too confident he would stay with them. Funny enough though he had to agree to go on the IR. I wonder if he fully understood what was going on. And that the team that claimed him wouldve had to start him immediately. My bet is hamilton did it. Though I could see edm, and maybe TOR being the team too. (Newly-signed quarterback Devlin ‘Duck’) Hodges made a mistake signing a three-year deal (with Ottawa). If he becomes the starter there he would have had a ton of leverage by 2023 if he’d signed a one-and-one. Now he’ll have to wait until 2024 to get out of his rookie deal. Crazy, I wonder if he gets an NFL window with deal? I feel like he's a guy who could bounce back to the NFL pretty quickly based on physical talent and experience.

The timing of our bye weeks, and the lack of a crazy short gap between games or multiple games is great. I hate all the home and home back to backs though. But I dont think game before or after bye, home and home, back to back etc will really bother this team. Especially as we get healthy.

Sort of. He played a handful of indoor league games. Which honestly is more semi pro. Yeah maybe he will he playing in the indoor league till he's 41. Don't think it'll he here barring a tremendous come back. He was a part of the NFL virtual work out and try out. He can put up good clips from head on with no one on the field. Like a work out warrior but the kicker version.

I think itd aid legs a lot. Mourtada couldnt hit any thing from the angle though and hit all his head on XPTs. So I think we will still be in the wind, so to speak.

Hes our prototypical long running track freak at WIL. He really does not run like a LBer at all, he made a couple pretty crazy athletic plays before he got hurt. Diving over the back to knock a ball down in specific. This.

The bigger field makes the ground level more susceptible to winds, it also creates some very tough angle kicks. Especially opposite leg side on a short field goal. In general the more dome teams and stadiums design makes it easier for the most part too. The NFL also has far more professional holders. The cfl its generally the no2 qb by default.

BC wasnt gonna run on us in the first place, but with the way the jeffs have gotten after the passer with out stove, itll be crazy to see what they do with him back in the middle devouring 2 souls on every play. Healthy at the mid way mark of the season, with a 6-1 record? Yes please.

Looks like the boys are back. Man if we go in with all 3 back in the line up, tuned up and ready its gonna be huge.

Well tbh if I was a kicker I would rather kick in the NFL too. Its much easier kicks. But yeah, the 600k+ US is a pretty good incentive too. Even the 10k a week on the PR is pretty good money. In 2023 the NFL PR wage is gonna be 12k a week. I wonder if the min or avg CFL salary will have to go up too.

That guys been cut soo many times this year. Its like homer simpson has been his coach at every stop.

Weve seen plenty of weak coaches and front office types win GCs. He was put in a fantastic position with that entry draft. They pretty much handed up the keys and let him make a good team early. Matt dunigan did a far more impressive job building up calgary in his 1 year with them. And he was tossed out right after that. In no way is bragging about a GC win almost 6 years ago going to get you far in the cfl right now.

Has he been cut again from the NFL pr? Even if he has, he's bounced between like 2 teams 4 times this year. Hes probably high on the FA list in the NFL for kickers. Idk that any one is going to trade a kicker. Would love it if we got a great one, or lirim or medlock for the rest of the season but Im not holding my breath right now.

I think you are drastically under estimating the control a coach has on his roster. A head coach doesnt just go "oh well shucks the gm got these guys its all I get." They have a considerable control and input over who the team goes after and most spend the off season working directly with the scouts and GM in making the decisions. Baseball is really the only situation where poor coach situation happens. Have no doubt at all that plop wanted nichols and chose him. Desjardins didnt just go "hey that little used RB tim flanders you had a few years ago, yeah Im gonna bring him in and very little competition, he's gonna be your starter." Soo if Harris is off the IR, but not on the active roster, is he on the PR?! TF is going on in Edmonton?

My 2nd favorite mlb team is who ever is playing the yankees. Jays beating the yankees is as good as it gets in baseball for me.

Itll be interesting to see if its 1 move or a flurry of moves. If another team falls out of the play off picture we might see a rash of vets on 1 year deals moved for future value.

Thats what I assume yes. But MOOL is mostly for import tackles. Id love to see some interior canadian OL get some shine. Underwhelming thy name is east division. I dont think hes well situated to keep it going. And hes had a couple stinkers this year, plus played ott twice. Ive long thought reilly was the best qb in the league. Basically every year hes played. But this year looks like hes heading for catastrophe more than award trophy. Hes the most valuable player to his team im sure though. With out him they may not have won a game. Ive said it many times, but the shift of hardrick from guard (where he struggled) to tackle, and bond coming in at tackle turned our OL from a turnstyle into monsters. With out question, a lot of things happened to provoke our turn around. BC cut hardrick, bond comes in, bryant harris and randle came over, Mo is MODP quality as a rookie, etc. Luck is the residue of hard work. The mafia worked long and hard to get those breaks. Remember bob wylie dressing down a media type for implying that all the sacks where a sign the OL wasnt good. And then with in the same year they were hailed as the best unit.

Im hoping the jays get back into the wildcard spot too. Though bluejay play off baseball is bad for the CFL tv ratings. But with the NBA about to begin its pre season and NHL the same, its gonna get rough any way soon. Yep. Trying to make a story. Ward is 29 and might age out of the NFL window. His first year was insane and he was still here in 19 and now. It may not make sense for the RBs to sell off a vet that will be around for a while, especially when they dont have a young/cheap replacement. I dont see them getting an impact guy this year. Yeah. Defending champs seldom get free spots on the bingo card though. Id rather our guys stay angry then have a soft game. The positioning of the byes looks like it will work out to be very advantageous for us this year atleast.

Hmm Id really like to get a look at Agudosi, so he probably gets cut, same with demerio houston. I would say that one of the 2 imp OL on the PR would be a likely candidate to get cut. I dont see greg ducre on the roster, idk if he was cut or what. But we have 4 other imp dbs. Antigha could be on his way out. Vet salary is more than rookie salary and he hasnt been a contributor. Devonte williams the rb with some return experience would be a prime candidate. Maybe Naaman too. Again hes a vet who doesnt seem to have a path to the active roster. Idk if our PR still expands for NFL cuts this year or not. If not, the usual advanced look guys for the next year might prompt more than a couple guys to be cut. Or come down "injured". Can you go from PR to 6 game IR? I assume so.

Yeah the reports have kind of been a nothing burger any way tbh. The league doesnt seem to be taking them or the depth charts seriously. Im guessing if all 3 come back that stove would come in for walker and start instead of sayles. Nelson goes out for grant. And kyrie I would think comes in for brown. Itd be really nice to have kyrie and rocq on the roster at the same time. Id also love to see the briggs/gauthier rotation on defense become a seldom used set. I feel like they have had him practice as sparingly as possible since hes come back. He doesnt need the reps.I hope thats all it is.
