Yeah thought he might get some offensive reps too. Took McGrae also

Yeaaah I took grant in fantasy too

Let’s go blueeeee

100% the refs and coaches need to be responsible. I feel like that’s make up for not dealing with the situation before it blew up.
-
He’d say it was a mafia hit job. Coaches should be held more responsible for teams chippiness imo. If a player gets ejected the hc should automatically be fined. refs have a bad habit of not dealing with this stuff and controlling games.

End of one year to almost the 1/3 mark of the next is still fresh in the mind but also long enough ago that no repeat should happen. another one to think about is what does the next team he plays do? If I was a linemen vs his team from the very start of the game he’d know what would happen if touched the qb high or low and he’d see some bottom of the pile tone setting real early.

The bombers acted fast on lawler last year. Should the penalty be greater because it’s not his first attempt to injure Masoli and the two events are soo far removed?
-
As dirty as Marino.
-
Dysons fines ended his career. I’m ok if they want to replicate that. let’s say Dyson was as dirty. He was still a legit cfl talent. If he hadn’t been a dirty bastard he could’ve still been an all star ol. That’s not true of Marino. His career and presence in the cfl is based solely on being a dirty bastard.

Ed Phillion got off way easy imo
-
Not surprised in the least. if the league had any integrity he and Lawrence would be barred for life. Even Lawrence isn’t as malicious in intent and celebrating hurting guys.

Keep the offense on the field. Tame the kitties.

Week 5 - Back to Back Champs at Lions - Week of thread

The amount of people who are 6’0 plus and 200lbs plus that run faster than 4.5 seconds is really really low. I love speed at all positions. I’d take it when we could get it. I wish we had lucky. But you don’t need speed if you run an offense well. some thing a lot of people don’t get with stretching the field is that it works in multiple directions. And in the cfl stretching the field side line to side line is far more prominent and dominant. That also opens run lanes that down field doesn’t. Last year we stretched the field in all direction and ran well. Which meant big gaps and seams for every one. Throwing the ball to a spot and letting the wr run under it is critically under rated. That’s how the best small school spread offenses work and blow up. They don’t get burners they get guys who run good routes and buy in. Then qbs float balls to the side lines. -

That would entirely be on spacing and pattern useage. If you are clogging up lanes with bodies then your play call is the issue. With proper play design you could have pass lanes big enough to drive a semi through with 5 wrs running 25 yards in 4 seconds on a 65 yard wide field. This is soo much truer now than ever with the hash change too. -

Perfect example is lawler 4.65 40. No doubt he had more 20+ yard catches than any one in the league last year. -
100%. Last year any time you watched the riders they were involved in a dust up. The priders blamed every one else. I wonder if any one is waking up over there. Ssk is a toxic waste dump for team culture. Worse than Chris jones. And that’s saying some thing.

So far this year we have had 19 2 and outs. and 30 drives with 5 or less plays that didn't score. That's out of 53 total possessions. (not including opening kick offs or victory formation.) Mean while bc has had 5 2 and outs in 3 games. 0 in their game against toronto. (not counting again the victory formation.) and 13 drives of 5 or less plays that didn't score. The splits for yards, first downs, sacks and tds are heavily in bcs favor. Interesting considering they've played 1 less game and played 2 of the same teams as us. The line is pretty narrowly in favor of bc. 1.5-4 points. If it wasn't a bomber game bc + the over would be a very appealing bet imo. -

Neither was money hunter, but he still got beat. For me, if I see that I'm happy and I'm not saying a word. Better to let the other team continue to do bland stuff rather than kick the hornets nest. Do not be surprised of the bombers run some new wrinkle this game, and run it right at sayles. -
I'll bet he does nothing. He isn't in charge of that locker room and I don't believe any one on that roster looks at him as a leader. Thats part of it ya. It's own governance, decision making, and partners namely TSN combine for about 90% of the problem.

I wanted to test the waters and see if anyone's interested in discussing interesting or creative play calls in football. Also a bit of theory crafting or hand wringing about how stuff would work in the CFL and why we don't see it. One of the big things I see in US football, that hasn't come up here despite massive potential is better-designed QB runs. Teams like the Ravens and Coastal Carolina do exciting stuff with QB runs. The ravens run some rpo, but fake the option a lot and use designed run calls out of the same package. Their O power and QB power are great examples. In a full option offense, this would be 1 place call. The QB would read a defender mostly the end and either keep it up behind the pulling guard or hand it off to the RB to run outside of the guards' block. The advantage they get from mixing in the separate calls is that they change the speed of the play drastically. The fake option can be run much faster and the defense can't re act to the fact the offense isn't reading a player. They have to try and cover all the option players gaps. Traditionally this type of play used to be run from a 2 back power set. But the ravens use it heavily out of 11 and 21 personnel in the shotgun. Alignment wise it's not that different from what we see up here every week with Woli/Demski/Bailey pinching on the end.

Injury Report, Lineup Changes, Roster Moves

Spurgeon wynn? Seeing that nichols has officially retired I wonder if he signs a 1 day to retire as a bomber? I’m kinda thinking he won’t but I’m sure the mafia would oblige. -
Yep. Never picking defense again lol.

Imo 6 games is what that hit deserves. the real problem is he he acted after. 1 celebrating like that. Clear intent to injure and celebrating hurting some one. 2 celebrating while being removed from the game. That on top of being a frequent offender. 1 deserves another 2 games. 2 warrants even more. 2 and the frequency of his cheap shots should yield suspension until completion of an investigation. If they find him remorseless and likely to re offend he should get the rest of this year and half of next year. It sounds strict, but you have to stomp that crap out. If the same hit happened to cf the riders would be marching on ott with pitchforks and torches. Personally, I’d void his contract and bar any team from signing him again. But that won’t happen. Last night Marino took more from this league than he will have ever contributed, did some thing that flies in the face of every thing the cfl stands for and celebrated it. Twice. If the riders has any integrity they would waive his ass immediately. dicker and the team deserve punishment as well. You can only maintain a cesspool quality culture soo long with out taking responsibility for the mess it causes.

He’s still young with lots of tread on the tire. But he hasn’t played in what 4 years? At this point I’d roll with the young guys we saw in camp and pre season.

Throwing in some layered zone pressing under on a few guys like lucky would be really effective too. Bc has mostly feasted on wide open deep balls and lots of intermediate rub stuff. If you jam some but not all of their guys you can really disrupt the timing of combo routes. I’m sure as always hall is prepared with lots of ideas and wrinkles especially for the second half. I think the db blitz package is going to be really effective too. Rutledge times his blitzes really well and is soo quick. Rourke isn’t prepared for rushes from the second level imo.
