  1. My only issue with Lawson, is he didn’t play enough. Guys a monster. For the cap numbers the only thing I’d add is that it’s heavily skewed for us when you factor in Zach, and even what will likely be our top 5 all earning outlier money. Let’s say Zach 600k, and the next 4 (likely wj lawler Bryant and one of schoen/brady) average 225k. That’s 1.5m/5.585m at just 5 guys. Leaving 40 to split 4.085m, if we leave no cushion and rely on cutting guys to make changes or ir saved money. That’s 102,125 now, vs the minimum of 70k. If you break down the next 5 highest paid guys, and average out the rest over 35 it drops to probably the mid to low 90s. If you then pay your 7 starting candians plus 3 key ni back ups an average of 100k, which would likely be closer to 125k in average, the number slumps even further. There was actually. Behind Jackson in particular we have spent the last 3 drafts stocking guys for that kind of role. Any taman napkin name ni or imp at fb te lber or de could’ve filled that role and been an upgrade either by ratio or talent. Same with faith the de edition.
  2. The same reason Jackson and Bennett held roster spots.
  3. Early to tell this year, we haven’t had a significant raise like this since zachs contract after 2019. Maintaining on a team retaining most but not all players while still losing guys is different than retooling like we have to now. 50k is 50k, we need to be cutting the fat and saving not the opposite. That’s a base American cut for a base American though. Makes us much better talent wise but doesn’t save us money.
  4. 50k raise to the worst starter on our team when Brady and schoen are pending fas going to get a huge raise each.
  5. We could run 2 QBs on the active roster and keep the 3rd/4th on the pr to see some cap hit. Not a big fan of 2 QBs but gotta do what you gotta do.
  6. Juked. If you get trucked by a qb you never live it down. Almost as bad as getting whupped by a kicker eww
  7. 120k plus play incentives what a freaking steal
  8. No kidding. Game planning for our diverse run game, pass game and an option package? Pick your poison. Buck is gonna have an embarrassment of wealth in his arsenal.
  9. Ick no kidding. Didn’t know that was a thing which says all you need to know. I’d love a semi rotating cast or some thing involving blm plop dunigan etc taking offence maybe another talking D too
  10. Love this move. Can’t wait to see what he brings in camp/pre season. I think he will do a lot better working with buck as a passer than under plop especially after all that seasoning in the nfl. I wonder what the money is going to be like. We weren’t seemingly interested at all in brown at 300k range. Would be exceptional value to get strevy in the low 200s considering he impacts the offence as a back up. I greedily still wish we had brown. But I love having big Chris back. New Jersey time!
  11. The difference in production is volume, which is not meaningless as a rb. But Brady has taken a lot of hits and a few injuries. Probably pretty much right though but any thing is possible. Lffffggggggg it would be hilarious if it was just to sign autographs again. Or they found the fur coat haha.
  12. Schoen runs like milt. He bursts in his cuts but is a fast jogger between them. He hits the line hard into his first cut often as well, then only goes for top gear as needed. He’s a hard guy to gauge the speed on through routes then suddenly he just walks away and makes a catch. Guys like that are generally as fast on the last play as the first play. Grant also ran in a range of 4.56-4.62. With guys who haven’t been prepping for track since hs the 40 is an after thought. Mechanics make a big difference in times. A raw guy running a low 4.5 might be as fast with polish as a high 4.3. The popularity of pre combine/pro day pre has really skewed the results of speed tests. A 4.5-4.6 guy is generally going to be a good smooth runner who isn’t explosive but average over all, or more often an outlier who lacks a low gear high gear or struggles to get into a high gear. Most all of our WRs are guys in that range.
  13. Luck is the residue of hard work. The last two gcs we seemed to be happy to be in it and didn’t seem to want it nearly enough. 100%. If we do bring back jj, we need a de who will split reps with him, and to carefully manage his snaps. the problem is he is that guy, but that guy is only here for 1/3 of the season instead of 2/3. If jj had played the volume of snaps and games wj has played here he’d be a sure fire hofer. As is, he might be a guy who gets sorely disappointing by a lack of a market value. For most teams, getting to a championship is good enough. For great teams, dynasties, and real contenders to those two things, there is no such thing as good enough. Good enough is the death of improvement, and competition. Eventually of competitiveness. Apathy is what kills great teams. We were good enough to get to the last 2gcs but not good enough to beat two teams we should’ve handled. Jordan, Brady, the un defeated dolphins, pick a great dynasty and sport. It’s the hatred of losing that drives the ship. This team loves playing together and loves playing for the mafia, loves the FIFO the fans the market etc. but they have lost that hatred of losing. The 1 week at a time mantra has become a way of forgetting about getting slapped by bad teams or losing ships instead of a way to keep from getting to high on them self. It’s excruciating for me, you and some others. For some people, not soo much. Neither is right, and no king rules forever. If we don’t win in 25, I think it’ll be the end of the mafia/fifo as we know it. Kongbo and his adventure in bc is a case study in this. He’s a guy who knows how to win and is pure motivation for winning. Bc thought they wanted that, until they saw what it involved. Then they folded like a cheap tent and shipped him out so they could be content in their mediocrity. I’d rather give kongbo an over pay than most of our guys. We need that attitude back. Part of that is the change in not having a nose, and the way we layer pressure. Jj was creating tons of pressure, wj was coming in hot frequently, but also want often in control or in a position to finish a tackle. Our not adapting the rush to not having the inside presence we used to has put our rushers into worse positions to make a play. If wj played the previous seasons like he played the first half of last year it would’ve been maybe the greatest season by a de ever in the cfl, but a couple times over.
  14. Jeffcoat maxed out last year at 185k. Wj maxed out at 200k. The only ends above wj was mauldin, who got that money off an insane season where he put up the same amount of sacks as jj did from 19 through the 22 season. (4 years 3 seasons of course) more sacks than jj has had in any 2 back to back seasons ever. The same amount as his 2 best seasons. I love jj, I wish he could stay healthy for once and put up a monster season. But he turns 34 this year, has never played a full season, and was already in the top tier of paid des. Jj hasn’t been underpaid, and isn’t appreciating by any stretch. I mean Habba for 110k a year less isn’t going to be as much of a beast but he’s going to have similar or better production. I wouldn’t give jj more than 140-150k unless it’s very low base with high bonuses for high stats and games played. 100k base 40k for playing 16 or more, 30k for division all star, 40k for league.
  15. Pro sports especially football are like dog years. 3 years is like 10+. That’s more than the average career length of a pro at most positions.
  16. damn that’s a find! Yep. St vital has most of the stock. Less big sizes though.
  17. lol, though the stamps cut starters after winning 14/15 games. That’s true.
  18. Idk. The coaching staff moves and not re signing a lot of guys for free agency gives me hope.
  19. Haha I actually considered bidding on his orange jersey, figured it’d go cheap. Bet it did too. I hope we see new hats. A lot of flat brim and meh stuff right now. The last few years they’ve had some great hat designs too, so maybe they’ll launch some new stuff for camp.
  20. I was thinking back to how much stuff I bought after the gc wins and how busy the store and site were. This off season and last hasn’t been nearly as busy and it occurred to me that while the gc wins brought huge financial win falls for the team, gc loses likely have cooled it. so I’m buying a New Jersey, hoody, shirt and hat. For the jersey I’m gonna wait till fa is over, since it’s likely to be either Brady or schoen if they sign. So buy merch! What are you gonna get next?
  21. You know by the pff stats Eli graded out as better than kola to ya. One guy nominated kola for mol, based of gut review. No one else is touting him as the strength of our ol or grading him out well he didn’t rank high on the pending free agents no one was targeting him. If you don’t n agree with the reviews on here, I think that’s pretty strong neutral evidence. Though I’ll again say the pff stats are a bit suspect, and at best single stat analytics like that are extremely un reliable for centres. When you don’t play a guy every snap you just can’t compare efficiency numbers to guys who do. It’s much easier to continue to develop and start developing Dobson/gray at centre than to develop kola into more than a C for sure. Ideally I’d develop gray at a rt and Dobson as a c so you have extra coverage for each spot. It was a fantasy football tool in its base wasn’t it? Some of those guys really know their stuff, but it’s hard to translate imo. Football outsiders was a much better advanced break down site for the nfl. those 3 inside would dominate the line in the run game and wear down dls fast. They would make the pass rush of other teams worse as much as improve pass pro. Love any excuse to nerd out lol. For any one who wants to get a quick evaluation of an ol, watch the depth of battle. Where do they engage a dl, usually + or - 1.5 yards from the los depending on pass or run pro. Then watch where they are when they disengage. If they are getting deadlocked or losing position the dl is winning even if they keep em locked up. You can only lock horns and get pushed back soo many times before you are just beat. It’s easy to look at sack plays and be down on any one involved, but every ol gives up sacks and some times it’s not intuitive as to why or how they got beat or if it’s their fault. You might not know the play call or understand the scheme and that can under rate guys too. But If they are winning heads up battles it speaks volumes to the rest of what’s happening.
  22. Crazy how old he got. This makes my joints hurt. Wonder if this could be atleast partially funded by the nfl, maybe even the xfl4.0. Running it in the us would make things easier. Way easier to send Canadians down.
  23. Gray is a great 6th ol but at this point he still hasn’t become more than that which is disappointing. Seemed like it took a few weeks for Eli to get into shape but man he just chews guys up. When we had desjarlais teams lamented playing us. Our interior is soft now. But we have the pieces. So he’s hoping Eli wins the starting job and that Dobson takes a step forward and wins one too. Because those guys change how teams play is in a big way. It seems gray is pretty locked in market wise due to his study with the u of m engineering department. But his not having signed is strange. This off season feels soo strange and foreign. Change is needed but not used to it at this point. I can’t imagine all these guys go to fa after years of not doing it just to resign.
