  1. No one said the offence wasn’t good in the regular season, and it was the total offence you know with the real mop Brady. Idk how you manage to not understand that.
  2. It’d be bourgoin not costello. I was postulating that if buck leaves he might try to take costello since he would run the offence in Regina any way. I think highly of bourgoin as a player coach and developer. If he’s got the x n o strategic side idk but I think we are going to find out.
  3. True. that’s the move I’d make if I was picking between the two.
  4. I feel like maybe Lawrence played through some bad injury or some thing this year. He looked a lot better even in pre season. So I’m good with him coming back. Ba and rose, I wouldn’t give mos a crutch. Both are still players with use left. But both shouldn’t be starters on a contender any more. But maybe mos will pull the trigger if they are out performed in pre season/ camp. He did leave rose off the gc roster. 100%. Especially in the system we play we need guys who can be close, make tackles and make WRs pay a physical toll. If jy takes over this year I think that’d help too. We lost the last few key nfl cut free agents we had. We really need ford back to bolster our ni talent. He’d be huge, I could easily see him taking a starting job and running with it this year. Which with Kramdi as back up works perfectly. I don’t think Sam is a great spot to go ni at today. The modern bigger Sam’s are becoming a key position with covering run fits and being able to cover slots man up if needed.
  5. Maybe it was front loaded so it could dip in time for the front office guys to get covered. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. For all that’s happened the thing about mos that sticks with me most and always will is just after the 21 gc stadium parade celebration, he and his wife walked around and picked up garbage off the field. Could’ve left it and trusted the grounds crew to do it. Could’ve directed such a group to do it. But nope, they walked around and picked up every thing them self.
  6. Iirc he comes out for part of camp, but that guy has made pro football life really work well for him in the front office. Happy the big 3 are back. Hopefully they will bring the change needed. True, they must’ve pretty much agreed to split what was available. Great for us.
  7. You’re confusing correlation with causation. The personnel in our secondary is not why we lead the league in pass D. Our offensive domination especially in top and td%, our pass rush/run stop and our bend but don’t break game plan caused that. Teams just didn’t have the time/attempts to drive the field repeatedly. The secondary tackling was beyond pitiful, recovery poor from most dbs, Houston was gambling and getting burned frequently. Parker Nichols holm and Kramdi should stay. Though not automatically all in starting spots. Kramdi is valuable too. He’s probably best as the reserve db/rotational guy. Though he could take a step forward next year. He puts him self in position to make a lot of plays, he just needs to get better at finishing and being consistent. Having that in a ni is huge. Vs having 3 ni dbs who can’t cover a guy at all.
  8. I would get rid of a lot of dbs tbh. Parker, Nichols, holm and Kramdi. And in an ideal situation both Parker and Kramdi would have to come in a take a starting job from some one. Even the back up nis, I like to exhume and the Halley’s. But imo you can’t carry 3 ni dbs who can’t man up. Not when you carry 7 lbers especially. A guy like rose/ba is good for culture and continuity. But I don’t think we can rely on either any more. Luckily you can rebuild a secondary quickly. I think some one is likely to over pay Houston and take him off our hands. I like the guy as a person and pull for him but he’s not what we need.
  9. And, a starting Canadian. I don’t know if he leaves for that tbh. I think he’s likely to get some thing 180k or higher from us. The real league mop, the best back, an all round guy who blocks great catches well and is a starting Canadian. Look at what drew desjarlais got from ott. That was a while ago. Drew desjarlais got 260+ incentives. In both guys you’re talking about the best at their position, absurdly young for their success, and Canadians.
  10. The culture definitely starts with wade. Mos and walters are here because they fit the culture wade wanted. Mos certainly is a big factor for how the room actually runs, but he wouldn’t be here if it didn’t run the way wade wanted it to. It’s said a lot in the working world that people quit bosses, money is often an excuse as to why people leave. Buts people in all fields mostly want quality of life. happens a lot. From khari, to June jones and dinwiddie and Dickinson. Idk when you’d have seen an offensive co become a hc for the first time and not have hands all over the offence and functionally run it. Not really for Brady it’s pretty win win for him. He can get a lawler Esq offer from ssk and sign for 50k less here and get 50 more than he likely would’ve. I mean from their stand point it only makes sense for the riders to offer him a ridiculous contract too. If I was most western teams I’d offer him 250k with ease.
  11. I don’t think plop had a group that was his guys. Buck might not only fine will tell. Idk what the chances are he actually leaves either. Maybe 25%? it is tight, I hate it soo much. It should atleast just be coaches with another for front office and scouts with no multi tier Chris jones poison pill contracts. I think what it’s gonna lead to is more asts and cos getting poached by the xfl/usfl and ncaa. Xfl has been paying 500k us, with those lower taxes since its return and I can see that going up. I doubt even Chris jones is making that.
  12. In general the front office cap is gonna be real tight here. If we have to replace buck and do it internally, we will also need a qb coach. That will bring things even tighter. If we fill from out side that wont be cheap either. A team with an empty staff could offer more flexibility for buck to offer to Costello. If buck runs his own offence mainly then he could give Costello co ordinator money
  13. Unless he pulls out right away I think you have to be right. Mos has only been coaching a couple more years than buck over all. I get that it’s a tough thing to strike when the iron is hot and you know you’re going to start with a bad team. I don’t think buck is ready though.
  14. If it happens I think the short list is 1) costanza. He just re upped with the Argos but it’s a job promotion, could possibly be an ast hc too. Idk if he takes it or not. 2) Bourgoin with a qb coach. The likely pick, though he’d really need support from some one with more experience. 3) plop. 🤮 but he left for a hc gig and the boys love him. I don’t know if this is a nightmare situation or if he’s actually be able to tame Zach and get him running proper check downs. But I wouldn’t hold my breath. I dont see us being the team to go after an another teams guy who is a total out sider to the mafia like condell or Milanovich, or even a young up and comer. My dark horses would be khari, which would likely be worse than plop he squeaks in due to tightness back in the day with wade. And 0.001% chance dark horse of June jones. He wants back in the cfl, not a lot of jobs open, I know he has a lot of respect from mos coaching against him.
  15. Yeah, if Brady hits fa though buck could drive the price up on him to the point it costs us some one like schoen/lawler. Bailey, brown, bolo, gmc, Augustine, and ol like kola and Richmond are the most likely to get lured away if buck goes.
  16. I do expect more uncertainty this year though just from guys on the retirement fringe even. I think the early keys to the off season involve possibly replacing buck, doing the most to bring back lawler, schoen, Brady, and brown, and getting a real punter ideally a Canadian who can kick off too.
  17. So does buck. He’s been here longer than most every one including mos. thats what id tend to believe. Though it does happen that guys go through the process to get experience. Normally when that happens you hear them quickly pull their name out from final consideration though. If I was in that position deciding between mace and buck I’d take mace. Defensive guys tend to do a better job of working with asts to run a D and team where offensive guys imo struggle more with micro managing every thing. Offence in all football is what sells and draws. If you’re an offensive coach and become a hc you really need to own the offence. Fans expect dynamic exciting offence right away, no matter general success. Personally id rather have a more polished none plop disciple as oc. I think buck needs more polishing as an oc little on a hc. He hasn’t been able to reign in Zach or calm him down. Idk how he’s going to manage defensive players or veteran coaches under him. Though if buck leaves I expect him to go hard after our key offensive free agents. Brady, brown, Bailey, lawler and schoen. And I expect him to get more than one or two of our guys.
  18. Buck rejected the riders overtures once or twice in the past too. I can’t imagine mace or buck taking that job. But it’s also strange that both finalists wouldn’t be willing to take the job if offered. And if buck goes I’d be surprised if he didn’t take some guys with. I just hope one isn’t Costello or jy.
  19. Zach has had a couple of those type stat lines in the last two seasons. Kelly carried the way to a win in the gc, some thing Zach hasn’t. The three are absolutely in the same tier. The top tier of qbing in the cfl is not elite. No qb right now is. Any thing could happen to any of them. Play off performance isn’t cherry picking. Especially over 4 years. Cole weather? What cold weather game did Zach play this year? Defences aren’t better, you just don’t get to beat up on bad teams or teams in a bad spot. vaj improved this year again. He is still a very flawed qb but no question he improved. Zach has taken a step back for the second consecutive year and is going it be 36 next year. If you think that equals Zach being less likely to regress you’ve lost it bud. Agree. I think if you tell brown he goes into camp to fight against strevy for starter he’s willing to take a far more team friendly deal. Normally I’d say nothing will happen vets make the rules on mos teams. But as some one pointed out Willy was mos’ boy through and through. So was Nichols and big Chris. I think it’s more likely than most vets that he pulls the trigger. Though I think that’d be next year in season which could well be too late. Idk with Zach bouncing back. Eli would be a big quality of life improvement. I don’t think even Zach would know if he would have another bounce back in him or not. Ol being better would be huge. At the same time he had the greatest skill group surrounding him this last year that a bomber QB has maybe ever had. Lawler schoen Brady Demski bailey woli is insane. If he had a 2021 ol and half the threats would he improve?
  20. 1 we don’t know if Zach can. As I broke down his numbers in 9 bomber play off games are pitiful. 2 he wasn’t though. He was in a glut of 3 guys that includes vaj and Kelly. Both of whom are much younger. If he regresses or either of them progress more he isn’t in the top tier next year. I think that’s far from the safe move. The only safe move would be to bring both back. I bet you could get both for less than 600k total too. The options with strevy are unlimited. Idk if ham would pony up given how his stint there ended. But I think ott would.
  21. I think to an extent the top tier coaches generally do that well. The don did it as well as any one I saw. He constantly found and replaced vets with young guys. Many of those vets still had meat on the bone and we with coach Ritchie at times made use of those vets. Old Dave was the ride or die with his guys, and that’s what crash and burned us after 2001. When vets left his teams they had nothing left. I think buonos real strength was finding great ast coaches, and developing/getting the most out of his QBs.
  22. Our leading passers. Ploen is the only one a head.
  23. Yeah, gonna feel like 9 months till then lol. Marcus crandle Cody fajardo and Darian durant won more grey cups each than 4 out of the top 5 QBs in bomber history including khari and dieter brock.
  24. We would’ve been drastically better with that. I’d a had legs kick off as well. He’s very different now. 19 and 21 he played with no fear as his career had basically been over and he got amazing pass pro. Since then it’s struggled more and more and he’s played very choppy and un certain when under pressure. What’s worse when he throws from the pocket he is not able to hit his spots reliably with the poise issue. It is fixable, idk if he will fix it again at his age, or If he/we can fix it here or if we have the right person to do it.
  25. So this is gonna be the whole off season discussion eh? 🤮
