  1. The greatest need in the cfl is fresh blood and innovation. We are far behind the ncaa, nfl and top tier hs offences now in innovation.
  2. Give them the ability to and you will. 🤢
  3. Over rated and under whelming? lol. Idk how to feel about the idea of lapo. On one hand he’s never had a set of weapons like he could here. On the other I don’t think he excels with a qb who improvs a lot. I’m not sure if lapo helps reign in buck or if they clash badly. He learns from each failing and is a great player coach / football mind. Im hoping for new blood. And I hope Marty gets to grow in his role. I don’t think the hire will be disappointing in the off season. With a gap open at wr coach, I wonder if Bailey comes back. Darvin adams is doing flooring which isn’t easy on the body or knees might be open to it. Terrence Edward’s has a very good te/wr clinic. Robert Gordon was doing well in mtl for our hay day and is available I believe.
  4. imo Costello still has a great chance. As he should. But the best case is with an oc to groom him or a former oc to be qb coach and support him. Not many out comes it worried about for oc rn.
  5. It’s all changed in the nil era. Sure is strange
  6. Yep. Bourgoin is interesting. Guessing he wasn’t high on the list for oc candidates. He’s a good coach but even more of a lapo guy than buck. That means hogan and Costello are the only possible hold overs on offence. Meanwhile most of the rest of the league has finalized their coaching staffs. I hope we aren’t waiting to the point it becomes a detriment. I would bring in Jackson as the oc and promote Costello to run game co.
  7. Odd that he flip flops from sac state to maryland. sac state is poised for big stuff going forwards. They raised over 35m in NIL money on one day in October when they had an off season goal of 50, which I think they’re already over. They are looking to build a new stadium and move up to the fbs.
  8. Every team needs to have a few guys who put their body on the line to enable others to shine. But you should be using role players to enable guys like biggie. Not guys like biggie to help the Jake Thomas’. Yeah he was soo critical to our getting over the hump. Hope he goes into coaching. Such a smart great hard working guy.
  9. Yeah. We really needed to adjust his role and get him some one who could bang in side eating blocks a couple years ago. Let him play wil and drop back more than rush. But we just kept feeding him to OL year after year.
  10. That's flattery for hodge lol. To be fair, I was defending biggie last year till his late injury. That is really when the wheels fell off him. Before that you'd get the, "Hes lost his speed" argument from randos grasping at straws every soo often. It really isnt the case. Biggie is cooked. Maybe with rehab and more specialized role he has a good year in him left. But it is a big risk and one that we shouldn't be taking. Losing 3 grey cups in a row that we were favored in, in progressively worse fashion is reason to grab some pitch forks. Expectations are, and should be higher than that. If we got beat on star power, that'd be one thing. But getting out coached repeatedly in the biggest game of the year is bad.
  11. Its just for pending free agents. You think any of the writers from 3dn read this board? I really don't see it. Especially Abbott.
  12. I wish we had kept the field intact from canad inns and Osborne stadium. Such a great link to the past and opportunity to boost grass level infrastructure. https://3downnation.com/2024/12/30/one-veteran-pending-free-agent-every-cfl-team-should-kick-to-the-curb-in-2025/ Wasnt sure what to expect from this article for us, but he nailed it. When the cfl media types are onto the fact that we’ve been running out guys who are toast, you know it’s bad.
  13. Nailed it. And honestly we wouldn’t have done any better vs the ALs.
  14. I mean the entire season really. Hands down his worst year as a coach last year start to finish.
  15. At his size I’d like to see a little bit more bulk then he could rotate at dt, and end in the 30 more. I do like his ability to get off blocks and defend the run especially. Makes really good decisions too. Teds first scoop lol
  16. and Hamilton grabs Hubert. Damn that sucks I wanted to see us develop him.
  17. I mean the bc lions love to over pay our free agents… dare to dream
  18. Makes a lot of sense. He’s already gone through a camp and sat on a pr so he should be well poised for camp in 25. Massive potential, dynamic athlete who cut his teeth in college as a teams guy. All those transfers look like a red flag. As do being cut before nfl camp and then cut quickly after one pre season game down there. Fits our wil mold to a T. Athletic tweener who should thrive on the big field. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/marvin-pierre/32005049-4557-7269-9aff-ef2c1fedfdb8 “At pro day, he measured 6-foot-1 1/2 and 222 pounds and demonstrated excellent athleticism with a 4.57 in the 40-yard dash and 40.5-inch vertical leap. That equated to a Relative Athletic Score of 9.08.”
  19. Very true. I do think that his struggle to fit under halls system then JYs is a bigger concern. He got two long hard looks under different systems, and some of the best defensive and db coaching you can find. I get why they’d want to take a look at him. Year on an nfl pr, 2 nfl camps, 2 cfl camps and two years on our pr as one of the best defensive back ends.
  20. Played two games last year and one before that. Pre season to early year he was rough. Improved a little bit but as a guy who is 26 with two full years and camps plus two full nfl training camps and a full year on an nfl pr, is way behind where he should be. Hasn’t really flashed any thing here. both McGhee and bridges were panned from camp and early year. Bridges is also an older guy, about to turn 28 going into year two. But he improved through out his time. Certainly well behind a bunch of guys and got passed by multiple younger less experienced dbs in two years here. Wasted pr spot. I imagine the riders are going for him thinking our dbs shouldn’t be bad through out, and he has lots of experience and time as a pro. But clearly didn’t take a long hard look at his time in. They might want to replicate what we do on the back end more and bringing in our end cuts makes that easier.
  21. Riders grab Tyrique McGhee. He kicked around here for 2 years and didn’t show much kinda glad he’s out of the way for the new batch of guys going into 2025.
  22. I kind of cringe when I see it come out. I never look forward to the schedule release any more. Friday night football is the best. With the schedule I hope for the bad to be minimal but that doesn’t often happen. I never expect much with the cfl schedule any more. Hate mid week games unless it’s a long weekend. Hate 3 games in 9-14 days. Hate when bye weeks aren’t reasonably well spread out. But since 19 the schedules have been really problematic.
  23. lol. Oc announcement for me. I’m not overly concerned about guys we might lose this off season.
  24. Yeah he’s flashed next level game changing play making. With both instincts, athleticism, and tenacity. One play on teams sticks in my head. Where he dove out around a blocker and tied up a returner, who he then finished the tackle on from his knees. Which is really hard to do. He’s a partial beneficiary of the nfls move to smaller more dynamic out side backers, and des. He could make an nfl team based on return play and effort alone. I would really love to see him back and in a full time role next year. I think the step forward he would take is huge. And would position him self for a better nfl shot down the road. I can’t say if ford got a shot down south. But he certainly seems to soak up coaching at a tremendous level. The improvements he made mid season in 24 were tremendous. Same with his rookie year. He stepped up in a huge way from early on to his late year start. I think ayers will take a big step next year be it here or in the nfl. 10 more lean pounds could make him unstoppable as well. Ford I think needs to start. I don’t think he has more to learn from sitting and watching.
