From what ive seen and can make an opinion on .. Bowman is wrong.

Which at this point is basically nothing.  Just a shiny video.  City already loses money on the proposed hotel deal if it were to go through, although that seems inevitable no matter who develops that site given how CentreVenture has mismanaged this whole situation.  Who knows how much public money/subsidy would be required as part of the proposed $400 million development?  Council doesn't know.  That's why Bowman can't just be a rubber stamp, nor should he be.  Next step should be the dismantling of CentreVenture.

We also know Bowman lied about seeing the vid.

I'm not attacking anyone but i'm not pretending that Chipman is some sort of god that's for sure. Seems that Chipman can get away with anything really. Who really knows who is being truthful here completely. I bet both are being a little pig headed actually. I'm not attacking Chipman but i do think it's a little naive to think he's telling the whole truth also.

He can get away with anything?  What exactly has he "got away with"???  Can you explain what you mean by that with a single concrete example?

The fact is that Chipman has incredibly deep pockets and is willing to spend his money on improving this city, in particular downtown (which needs as much private money as it can get).  Of course True North will also benefit... that's how business works.  Chipman's not running a charity.  Guys like that don't just come along every day.  You don't just piss off and alienate a guy like Chipman and expect another guy like him to pop up in his place.  He has worked hard for this city for a long time now and I agree with him when he says he should have built up some trust along the way.

If Bowman did a full investigation and found wrongdoing on the part of True North, that is one thing.  But to suggest wrongdoing simply because he is "confused" by the project... that is downright irresponsible.

    I gotta agree.

Bowman is picking the wrong fight.

  3. I understand they position they are in, or at least that they think they are in - it's the official team chat room found on the official team site, so they want everything there to be on the up and up.  But no one expects that of them, no one is going to blame them for the content of the individual posters.  Lighten up.

IT'S NOT OFFICIAL UNTIL THE BOMBERS SAY IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

Great, I don't have the time in my day to get a notarized document from Walters every time we're about to sign a player.  Relax.  No one will mistake the ramblings of mbrg or new earth mud for the Blue Bombers mission statement.

There's a difference between wasting $20 on a movie and burning a $20 bill.  If I waste 20 minutes of time just to look up some stats or make an extra-long post, well that's different than if that post gets deleted a day later.  Yes, both involved wasting 20 minutes.  In the former I at least feel like I'm getting something out of it.

It got a bit Roger Goodellian over there, with the randomness and arbitrariness of the rules.  I know why they do it, but they just don't have to.  No one is holding them to that standard.

    Agree with you.

What i really find odd and embarrassing over there is some rumors and chat about some players is deleted for whatever reason they seem to pick that hr or day or week that does not break any of the rules they have set other then they come out and say its not official or whatever.

Yet if a player is released or signs with another team in FA then its all good to bash the player to no end.

That said... If a player leaves for whatever reason and has harsh words about our team on his way out then ya i can see fans wanting to somewhat protect our team.... but just going off and bashing players to no end for reasons unknown i find to be embarrassing to our team and fan base.

    Yet its allowed.  weird.

Ok for the uninformed! What is TEP? Is it a site

I almost never go to TEP.....it's a really weird board not meant for the hardcore fans.

Ok for the uninformed - what is TEP? Is that a CFL site somewhere?

I'd long forgotten that it had a name - the official Bombers chat roomy thing is called The Extra Point.

I left a couple years ago due to a mod interaction I didn't care for.  I'm not going to blame him over that; it was more that I'm already here wasting my time - I don't want my time wasting to be a waste of my time.  Deleting my posts better have a much better reason than the totally valid point I made eventually led to other posters getting into a fight.

Guess I have a few thousand posts over there lying dormant.  Anyone know if I can convert them to aeroplan points or redeem them for luggage?

LOL   you have about 9000 posts over there.

Bit weird over there the mods kinda make stuff up as they go along.

Cec Luining was my cousin. He lived in Selkirk & was employed as a milkman there. (This was the 1950's). He was a linebacker. Jack Wells nicknamed him "The Mad Milkman From Selkirk".

That brings back a memory from my youth.  My grandparents owned a general store in Selkirk  and my grandfather told me about this guy who lived in Selkirk and played for the bombers. I didn't know he was a milkman but my grandfather seemed to know him quite well.

    Thanks for that.

Hard to believe that milk was actually delivered to your door as was bread. I remember the bread & milk trucks making the rounds in our neighbourhood as a little kid. Same with oil. Before natural gas, the furnaces used oil & the tanker truck would come around every few months, hook the hose up to the outlet on the wall outside & pump away. I seem to remember some houses had coal but I could be wrong. The other thing I remember about the wonderful 1960's. We could buy firecrackers. I had a friend who loved to show off. He'd light one up, put it into his fist & squeeze tightly. It would explode in his hand but he wouldn't get hurt because he squeezed so hard that it muffled the explosion & therefore didn't injure or burned his hand. I knew of kids who lost fingers or suffered severe burns when a firecracker went off & they were holding it. The kid was crazy.

    Remember bumper shining?

I remember getting milk delivered to the little milk door houses had beside the back door. Bread as far back as i can remember we went to grandma n grandpas house every Sunday for diner and we always left with 4 loafs of bread.

Looks like Stuart is back in the line-up, replacing Harrison.

Harrison's play in front of his own net over the last few has made me wonder if getting him for a 6th wasn't a robbery after all.

I think we have to look back at the situation we were in tho.... its not like we had one or two D in the lineup gone...they were all gone.

IMO   it was just something that needed to be done.

My reference to the trade wasn't a complaint about it.

Harrison has had a few weak games in a row, from what I've seen.  Maybe a 6th was fair value after all, cause at the time it felt like we took Carolina to the cleaners.

Or maybe it's just a couple of weak games in a row.  Either way, I'm happy to get Stuart back in.  That trade will always be a sound trade.

Ya i gotcha...i didnt think you were complaining

And i do agree at the time it looked like we made a great move  and i think he scored in his first game to  lol that added to it.

Looking back it was a big need and he seemed to fit the bill.

  8. You're right let's stick with halischuk

I see what your saying but not one player is going to come here and where going to win the cup. At this point im not even sure making a move for a top 6 guy is going to do much at all.

I cant see Chevy straying from what hes been doing.

I see us not doing much and continuing on this path seeing where it gets us and then bring up Morrissey, Petan, Ehlers next years camp and see if any are ready and figure how long till they may be ready and go from there.

I jus dont see us doing the rent a player thing to get a bit farther.

I hear the name Postma throwin around as trade bait....  It would be really stupid to trade him for a rental type player.

Miller also wanted the NHL to pay half the cost of the extra seating. Which doesn't make much sense to me.

Why should the Bombers pay the entire amount if they were going to be used by the NHL too.

Because its something they dont need?

Its not like the game wouldnt happen without the extra seating.

The extra seating is for the CFL not the NHL.

If the NHL is using them they should pay some of the cost. Do you think keeping the temporary seating up for 3 extra months is free.

Bombers can take them down then.  Its not needed.

If the game is postponed a year do you think the NHL will ask the seats go back up?  Nope.

The seats are only going up because of the Cup game....  It has nothing to do with the NHL. Did the NHL ask for the seats? Did the NHL say we wont get the game if the extra seats arnt there?  Nope.
