  1. If I'm Lapo is keep the TSN gig. He could do that for several years. Coaching the Riders, he'll be fired in a couple years and no guarantee the TSN gig will still be there for him when that happens. He makes good coin working 2-3 days a week, for half a year with TSN.

I'm not arguing with you personally because I keep reading this same sentiment from many different sites, honest question-how much does he make at TSN?

For Edmonton, again nothing personal against Reilly but he has tried to be Ben Rothlisberger too much and it was only a matter of time before someone cleaned his clock out by sacking him like that.  Plus I hate Chris Jones who's an absolute ***hole and he doesn't deserve any Cups to hoist.

So Reilly's reckless nature of standing in the pocket and being hit low (unintentional as it may be) is his own fault, and you knew it was coming?

Do you also blame people hit by drunk driver's because they often exceed the speed limit?

The fact that Glen Suitor agrees with your line of thinking should be proof enough that it is majorly flawed.

  3.

how do we know what his ceiling is without giving him at least a fair shake vs next to nothing at this level.  Seems Portis was getting reps ahead of marve last few practices before game 2, did the team suddenly become unready since the now PR qb took reps in place of our #3?

They have 3 years of tape on him. Simply not good enough, also heard he did not leave in the most pro way after being cut

If you had an interview for your dream job where you weren't allowed to speak how would you react at not getting the job?

And if a reporter outside asked you how it went would you still tow the company line?

Here's a thought.  If you think "cowboy church" is silly, don't go.  If you think that regular church is silly, don't go.  But judge not...

I wonder how many folks setting up these churches share the same "to each their own" attitude as you?

Call up a cowboy church and ask if they perform gay marriages? I have a pretty good idea what the answer will be...

WTF does that have to do with anything?

Call up a Chinese restaurant and ask them if they do fondue, if they don't should they be ridiculed on a football forum?

    Who's ridiculing?

I think organized religion has done far more "evil" in the past 2000 years than it's done good. And the more extreme/peculiar the religion, the more hateful and intolerant they tend to be.

That's my opinion, expressed respectfully on a football forum.

    Enjoy your Chinese food.

I am a regular church goer and can readily concede that religions can do and have done wonderful things for humanity. That said, it has been reported that there have been more killing over religious differences (at least that was the excuse) than any other reason.

About 20 years ago, the chief theologian for the Catholic church (Hans Kung) wondered out loud in an interview whether mankind would not have been better off without organized religion. Within 24 hours of the airing of the interview, he was demoted to a small parrish in France.

Religion is not the problem. It happens when politics and religion get into bed together.

Exactly. Christianity is pretty tame right now, but look at what happened during the Crusades.

I think it's our responsibility as Canadians to be tolerant, yes, but also skeptical. What people want to do on Sundays is their business -- just don't let them inject their beliefs into policy making, education, government, etc.

Lets not forget registered churches are getting a tax break as well.

I see, so religion should not inject their beliefs on society but your beliefs regarding gay marriage must be supported by them?

    Anything else your highness?

There's no need to be so condescending. It just makes you sound ignorant.

Then again, you seem to believe a modern society should be based upon a book of fairy tales full of talking snakes and whales that swallow people.

And actual living, contributing Canadians that happened to be born gay shouldn't enjoy the same rights as the rest of society.

So perhaps ignorant is a good fit?

Fact is, separation of church and state grants you the freedom to have those ignorant views. And I for one support that.

Now move to a country where there is no separation of church and state -- see what life is like as a "non-believer."

Fact is I have never been to church as an adult, it's not my thing.

I'm  also not opposed to gay marriage, I have gay friends and anyway who am I to decide who should or should not get married.

I have never once told you how to think and yet I'm the ignorant one for being put off by your insistence that those who disagree with you are wrong, silly and uneducated.

I am more than a little tired of the labels doled out by those of you who don't want to be labelled.

Condescending is the absolute best your kind should expect.(and no, I don't mean gay)

I see, it does make more sense now I suppose.

Holding a grudge because Henry isn't on the Bomber's will never make sense to me though :)

It is not a grudge about that at all. He is just a bad GM who does stupid things.

Has ridden Popp's name to two GM spots now, somehow.

I don't think you would find one person who would take Burris over Willy. He did us a favour.

Sooooo Al Bundy a redblacks fan? Only reason why I can see anyone defending dejarcrazy. The guy tries (and fails) to fix all of his problems by throwing gobs of money around... This has been proven at every place he has been a GM.. this and failure..

    A) keep guessing :)

    B) so you actually wish Henry was a Bomber? I thought Desjardins did the Bombers a huge favor by taking him.

  8.

Peters would also be a nice pickup. I like Curran better, but we can't control how stupid Marcel might get.

Exactly. Walters offers $150k. Desjardins probably counters at $350k.

Aside from reading Rider forum's why do people have this impression of Desjardins?

The Bomber's won 5 free agent auctions, did they pay too much? After all they beat Ottawa all 5 times.

Taman has the highest paid Canadian receiver by a mile, Popp has highest paid receiver and Wally is paying huge for a pair of LB's yet Desjardins is the only GM ruining the league with out of this world contracts? I don't get it.

  9.

Surprised SJ didn't want to test FA to be honest.

Als probably realized how screwed they'd be without both he & Carter so they gave him everything he wanted.

According to Popp last week they had an offer sitting on the table that would make SJ the highest paid non-QB in the league. Sounds like he got everything he wanted alright.

So is that idiot Madani tweeting about Jim Popp ruining the league with such a high offer or is that reserved for Desjardins?

  10. Lawless seems to think Walters will back a brinks truck up to Heenan and offer him $250,000 as an opening offer.

What would that do for us moving forward

It would massively increase the number of holding penalties.....I'm pretty sure Heenan lead the Rider's in tackles last season ;)

  11. If we want to fix the OL for next season, it won't be through the draft. That's the reality. That's why I say you take the best player available, regardless of position. If we get a Canadian starter at a different position, that could allow us to start an additional American OL and if we recruit properly that could go further towards giving us a better overall OL than any first-year Canadian OL would.

How many NI receivers lead the league in any stat?

On the flip side almost all the most outstanding O-Linemen are Canadian.

Getting the best player available your way isn't comparing apples to apples. A good NI O-Lineman is almost always going to be a bigger contribution than 99.9% of NI receivers.

Let's face it without the NI rule there would be very few NI receiver's.

Just my 2 cents, I love the CFL and the content rule :)
