  1. To be fair, the TPR usually comes out after the initial roll out of new cases. Knee jerk reaction- I find myself dispirited when I see the new case numbers rise and have to remind myself to actively search out the TPR and the tests performed (I wish they would include a five day average of daily testing). They should have done that a few weeks ago when it was approved to mix vaccines.... Doesn't seem like an issue though- the Moderna looks to be ok'd for 12-17 yo by the end of the week.
  2. TPR went down, so I wouldn't really worry too much about the higher numbers of new cases. I am more worried about people using work arounds to fake 2 dose proof. I feel there should be a HEAVY penalty for those scoff-laws.
  3. Yeah- that would have been my suggestion, but moot point. End of the week though... strong possibility of Moderna being ok'd for 12-17 yrs old
  4. Are you scheduled for Pfizer shot on July 3rd?
  5. That's awesome (should have been sooner, but hey- safety and all). @itchy daughter might be able to be doubly vaxxed sooner.
  6. one dose mRNA vaccine against Delta variant= 33% efficacy. two dose mRNA vaccine against delta Variant = 84%-88% efficacy. Delta will be the dominant strain in a little over a month. Go get Moderna and be safe. Mixing is fine.
  7. THe province should have staffed more on the phones and maybe included a pop up chat feature on the covid appointment website (like on all the telecom companies' web sites). Put more resources in effective communication for all things covid vax related.
  8. What's even nuttier... Moderna is ~2-4% more efficacious than Pfizer... We should be reserving the Pfizer shots for 12-17 year olds...
  9. Yup- there is also the Delta Plus variant... Some crazy scary **** coming down the pipeline... I know you are not too fond of Eric Feigl-Ding, but he's pretty on the ball with the newest data.
  10. So... it looks like the delta variant is going to swamp the USA in a month.
  11. Today I learned a very elegant way to wrap one's head around big numbers:

  14. My suggestion is to hit the mom and pop pharmacies. My first shot was done at one, the were one of the last places to fill up
  15. Today, I learned that @SpeedFlex27is a cranky old man, 😁🤣 Just kidding Speed, the set up was too good not to take.
  16. In a better place than MB? Absolutely. That is a a low bar... we have the highest ingrown rate north of the Mexican border. But what is happening in the UK is a glimpse of what is gong to happen, unless something different is done. Throwing the province wide open with only 25% of the population being fully vaccinated... that is not learning from other's mistakes.
  17. Whoa, Did Kenny just announce that Alberta is lifting ALL restrictions Canada day? With only 25% people fully vaccinated? This is not going to end well. Hello 4th wave Alberta. Madness.
  18. Second dose eligibility dropped:
  19. Oh wow, my first time seeing it and it made my day.
  20. What. The. Actual. ****. Is going on here? This is literally nazi talking points here... how is there no accountability for this ****? Why is ****** carlson allowed to continue doing this?

  22. Also, for those weary about mixing vaccines, here is an article that discusses this. It looks promising. https://www.bloombergquint.com/coronavirus-outbreak/pharma-executives-seeking-higher-immunity-mix-own-covid-shots “If you can mix and match, it’s going to look better, something that immunologists have known for decades,” said Danny Altmann, professor of immunology at Imperial College London. “I’d bet my house on the working hypothesis that it’s doable and would produce immunity that’s at least as good if not better.” Early research appears to back the approach. A study of almost 700 people in Spain showed that those who received a second dose of Pfizer’s vaccine after a first Astra shot saw their neutralizing antibodies climb sevenfold, significantly higher than those who had two Astra doses. A small trial in Germany suggested that mixing Astra and Pfizer shots could trigger antibody responses almost four times higher than a two-dose course of the Pfizer vaccine."
  23. Some reading material for those interested The discussion section of the study can be found on the full text tab of the study.
