Also, it might be a way of saying "**** you" to all those EU countries still funding the Russian war machine... Edit: Thinking on this more, I believe that this is a result of EU lollygagging on sanctioning russian oil and bemoaning their reliance on russian oil- Ukraine just made it easier for the EU.

Just came across this thread that recounts the battle of Kyiv. It's pretty good information in the early days of figuring out what happened. It is from the bias of Ukrainian support, just to be transparent, also- his Twitter feed is absolute dogshit, this thread is however pretty good.
