So I was not the only one who liked Harrison!

Well someone has to hate the trade and that's me. I'm usually wrong about these things tho. Best teams in hockey always get the best UFA's at the deadline it seems.

Dunno if still accurate but "NHL pensions, which are also determined by the length of a player's career, require at least 160 games played for eligibility. Those with less than 400 games played can collect $8,000 CDN per year beginning at age 45. Those who've played more than 400 games receive a payment of $250,000 CDN at the age of 55, in addition to $12,500 CDN per year at 45."

Goalie Ed Belfour's Olympic gold auctioned off for $34,777 Ed Belfour's decision to trade his Olympic gold medal to go into the distilling business with his son has paid off. The medal the Hockey Hall of Fame goalie won at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games was auctioned off for $34,777 on Tuesday, according to the final bid listed by Classic Auctions. Overall, the 66 items of hockey memorabilia Belfour put up for sale sold for nearly $179,000. Last week, Belfour said he was selling part of his collection to join son, Dayn, and establish Belfour Distilleries. The business is to be based in Texas and focus on distilling bourbons and whiskeys. A mask Belfour wore from 1992-94 with Chicago sold for $15,307. Another mask he wore with Dallas in winning the 1999 Stanley Cup title sold for $7,853. You'd think he'd have the cash straight up.

Mike Richards on waivers
Time for an updates of Mike Richards. NHL's Mike Richards' drug-possession charge stayed A drug possession charge against NHL player Mike Richards has been stayed in Manitoba provincial court Wednesday. Richards, a 31-year-old Washington Capitals player and former player for the Los Angeles Kings, was allegedly found trying to bring the powerful painkiller Oxycodone over the border at the Emerson port of entry on June 17. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, but the charge was stayed in a Steinbach court Wednesday. A stay of proceedings is typically used in cases where the Crown decides there is not enough evidence to move forward with the criminal charges. If new evidence comes to light within a year, the charges can be brought back to court. After a year, the case is considered closed. Richards was being represented by Toronto defence lawyer David Humphrey. katie.may@freepress.mb.ca
