Folklorama

Anyone been to any events yet? Just checked out the African one with my girlfriend and i have to admit, it was quite entertaining, very cool. Bryant Turner and another bomber i didn't recognize were there, they participated in the limbo event at the end..Was quite something, if anyone is into this Folklorama event and wants to go see a pavilion they will truly enjoy, Go check this one out, This one ends this week though, strongly recommend spending the 6 bucks to check it out at Grant Park School.

Always liked the Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, German, Britain, Ireland & Argentina. When I lived in Winnipeg, those were the ones I enjoyed seeing.

Scottish and Greek pavilions are both good, for different reasons.  I love Greek food, and the Scottish one is a hell of a party.

I've had the Brazilian one recommended, particularly for the capoeira demonstrations. The Japanese pavilion apparently puts on a good drum show.

if you like fire, the african one is definitely one to check out.

My wife went to the Brazilian one on opening night and said it was great. I was under the weather or I would have gone too.

There are lots of "duplicate" pavilions this year so if you miss one in the 1st week, there's a good chance that there is a very similar one the next week.

Here's the list of cultures/countries that have more than one group putting on a pavilion:

Africa/Caribbean (week 1) or two pavilions in week 2 (one just for Africa & a separate Caribbean one).

Brazilian (week 1) or Alo! Brasil (week 2)

Casa Do Minho Portugese (week 1) or Pavilion of Portugal (week 2)

Ireland-Irish (week 1) or Celtic Ireland (week 2)

Nayong Pilipino (week 1) or Pearl of the Orient Phillipine Pavilion (week 2)

Serbian "Beograd" (week 1) or Serbian "Kolo" (week 2)

Ukranian-Kyiv (week 1) or Spirit of Ukraine (week 2)

The serbian pavillion smells quite amazing, drove by it with the girlfriend last night on our way to Rona and smelled amazing.. The food they make has quite the nice aroma to it.
