The TV Thread

Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

Anyone else into this?

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

House of Cards was tremendous.

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

I'll check back tomorrow

well I got in touch with someone at Hollywood Suites regarding free previews and I did not like what I read

You’re correct that there will not be a national free preview this December. I cannot comment on the reasons for this change from past years, but it was a decision made in consultation with the TV service providers that carry Hollywood Suite.

We understand this is a disappointment to some viewers. Hollywood Suite is always a great value, and many of the TV service providers that carry our channels have special offers for new subscribers.

I don't get why this storyline couldn't have been on Blue Bloods. I guess it costs money to do a series with an ensemble with Tom Selleck is in it.

Sean has become a stud from the fat slob he became on Blue Bloods. Look, the kid can run & actually act. Oh, sorry different actor.

I wonder if it will come to Rogers customers. It would be nice if it would fill the void since so many channels shut down this year

hey kids loves these books even though Elephant and Piggie wrapped up quite some time ago like before COVID

Okay this needs big viewership numbers airing and streaming

Watching episode 7 tonight & the last in the series of Godless. When I read the plotline for the series, it didn't sound very interesting about a town of women who lost their men folk in a mining explosion. But as I like Westerns I decided to give Godless a chance & have been very pleasantly surprised throughout. The acting is superb & a really good story is weaved through the character building of the protagonists in the series. My only complaint. One season. Seven episodes. Make these one off series on Netflix or Disney+ really worth watching. Either bring them back for another season or stretch the one season to between 12-14 episodes.

Yeah that was a top notch one-off.

If I was doing that series as a producer, I'd want to focus on Truckee with his life as he gets older & what kind of man he turned out to be. So, say a decade later when he is in his mid 20's.. Maybe Truckee trying to find Roy Goode in California. Roy was like a father to him.

May be a graphic of text that says 'JAN 17 FINN WOUFHARD A$AP'

starting next month Boomerang Canada is actually going to air a piece of Canadian Nostalgia, I never thought I would see the day where Uh Oh! would be back on Canadian Screens even if it's likely going to be stuff from the final season because most of the mastertapes from the first couple of seasons are lost so there aren't alot out there (I taped the show alot when it aired and I regret that I didn't keep all but two episodes....I made sure they took their proper place on Youtube)

sadly it seems that starting next month YTV's programming goes off the clock from 6am til 3pm (last legs? it's bad enough we lost Family Channel this year I know YTV has barely been surviving in a post-COVID streaming heavy world but this would REALLY hurt)

April 10th

and if you're not happy with the way things ended remember, it's just a tv show

And apparently I had been misled, CMT and E! Canada are still standing (either someone lied on Wiki or Bell and Corus changed their minds)
