I had a little bit of fun this morning creating my ideal Bombers jersey lineup.
The blue is from the 80's so it's a little bit darker than our current alternate/retro blue. My retro is inspired by the 50's throwback we had a few years ago but I stayed away from navy, added a W to the helmet, and went with gold pants, all of which I think should be staples in our look.
What do you all think?

Better play it safe and just have the meeting at Earl's Main
Then I hope Walters has some Earl’s waitresses in attendance for his meeting with Henoc. The teams wine and dine. They are trying to sell him....he is the shopper.

at the Toronto Zoo?Lawless says Henoc is visiting the Lions today.
LOL

Then we hope for a snowstorm or two in the playoffs!

Can someone explain to me why the Bombers don't get that fans want these uniforms back?
They do and are apparently going to be back next season. Believe the hold up was not wanting to wear white road jerseys
How is that a "hold up?"

There will be a few quality back up QBs available in the off season. There aren't any other Henoc Muambas.
Who?

Interesting, what happens if Nichols catches fire down the stretch and out plays Willy?
Clements/Hufnagel... Willy/Nichols... Dynasty...
Juuuuuust kidding

It's amazing what a win will do around here.
Nichols didn't win the game last night the defence did. Nichols could have cost us the game with 3 turnovers in the first half, but he threw a TD pass (The first since Willy went down?) so now he's 'the man' and should be paid like a starter? IMO, Brohm/Marve/'A dozen or so other backup QB's' have set the bar so low that Nichols just looks like our saviour. He's a big upgrade over our other backup QB's, but lets see what he can do for more than a single game against the worst defence in the league before we make any silly proclamations about him.
Way to gloss over everything. nichols threw deep balls better then marve or brohm. He executed the offense properly. Made better fakes and moved the ball with his feet when needed. Did he play mistake-free? No. Did it look like his first game as a bomber after 4 practices? Yes.
I dont think many are clamouring for him to be #1 but many see his value and that he is leagues better then previous QBs..
Give the man his due. If he doesnt make the first downs and move the chains, maybe our defense tires out again..
Bingo!

One thing for sure - Nichols is far far better (as is Willy) than any QB recruit the bombers have brought in in the past 20 years. That's why most years we're doormats. I wonder where Nichols will sign next year? My bet - Ottawa.
If Wpg. shows Nichols some love, I'd bet he'd be happy to re-sign here. He has to look at his realistic chances of landing a starting position in the CFL and appreciate that there aren't many opportunities out there for a QB with his record and injury history. Honestly can't see any team investing in him as their number one at this point.
What's Burris' status for 2016? If he shows well for us this month OTT will show him the money.

Nichols.
QB depth rules this league. Waggoner doesn't even factor into my answer.

Did someone here say there will be a permanent switch to royal blue next year? Or is it my recurring dream serving me false hope again?

If that's so we should expect some more changes. Starts with Nichols, I feel MB has a couple of games to make that work now.
Considering that O'Shea has reportedly been getting more and more involved in special teams in the weeks leading up to this I don't think it's a stretch to think that this came from O'Shea himself. He saw a problem, tried to help and see if it got better without having to fire someone, it did not so he pulled the trigger.I'd love to know what kind of discussions took place that lead up to this firing. Did O'Shea initiate this himself? Was he pressured by Walters/Miller?
I don't know why people think O'Shea is blind and doesn't know what's wrong with this team. I guarantee that he knows damned well what the problems on this team are, he's a smart guy even if he doesn't say it in the media.

Stable failure!Ok, what I was getting at was:
Do we want to see him the rest of the year?
Do we want him as OC, next season?
If the answer to both, happens to be....no.
Then what would really be the point in keeping him around another 5 minutes?.....and yes, am ignoring the need for "stability" (will let others define THAT), simply in angry fan mode.....
-
This is such a passive aggressive move.
-
I would say no. Because we would all ***** if we had to endure more bad seasons like this. Build a winning team with a winning staff and do it.
More bad seasons? Read the post we've just won a Grey Cup and had two appearances before that!!! Lol hypotheticals are tricky.
-
When teams are really good they tend to stick around and win a couple of grey cups in a decade. Let's just say I totally agree that winning once per decade is reasonable in the CFL, which the Bombers have actually done. It's just that those little dynasties create droughts for someone and unfortunately WPG is the victim right now.
-
It simply isn't. If you're drawing lottery balls then yes, but there's more to it.And of course my answer assumes that we win at least one Grey Cup every 5-10 years!
I think that would be realistic in a 9 team league
-
So would I be happy with Saskatchewan's past half decade? Yes.
-
You pretty much summed up my thoughts, West.
Walters has no guts. I can't stand listening to him talk, pondering and thinking so hard before stuttering out the most conservative answer he can possibly muster. He's trying so hard to ACT professional and make us SEEM like a first class organization but he's not actually DOING much right. We're all so used to such terrible leadership within this football club that it's getting easy to see another train rolling off the tracks and down a cliff. -
Is it near better than Brohm?
I'm actually starting to lean towards that too.I'll go with Davis, Nichols isn't ready and he can't possibly be worse than Brohm.
Don't be too sure. Winnipeg has the uncanny knack of coming across some of the worst QBs this league has been subjected to. And I wish I was kidding.
What do I expect from D. Davis? Certainly nowhere near the QBing that the other DD provides.

Winning this game has got to be priority #1, right?
-
EXTRA EXTRA
Nichols knows defenses!
Im not sure I can get behind that. I can sure get behind Brohm not knowing them though.

Quarterbacks running for their lives isn't going to be unique to this weekend!
Do you think he'd learn more standing behind centre running for his life or watching from the sidelines? Not like this is a raw rookie here who just needs game reps, he's had game reps with Edmonton quite a bit this year. He needs to learn the playbook and the offence and he will do that better in the film room and on the sidelines than playing in the game this week. All Nichols has to do is be better than Brohm. If he's better than Brohm this week then we are a better team, and a better team moving forward into next week because Nichols would have a game under his belt.
