  1. Surpise, surpri......not really.
  2. Yes, we are so desperate that this is not inconceivable. Portis didn't really demonstrate enough good or bad to make a rational decision on him in the amount of playing time he was alotted during TC. He'd likely still be sitting on the PR if Davis hadn't come loose from Cgy.
  3. Employed, St. Louise Rams.
  4. It all makes so much sense now... That's the meat clerk! That's the meat clerk!!!
  5. The Mafia might disagree with your interpretation.
  6. Portis is not mcuh of a help since he hasn't play any down in the CFL yet. He will still be a 4th string in our roster if he comes back. 3rd if they boot Brohm. You need to update your tag line to "No Willy, no way".
  7. If the Bombers are going to dig through the trash bins of their past (wish they wouldn't) they might as well bring back Portis at least he's sitting on top and not rotting near the bottom.
  8. Good point, Marcel had strict instructions to build the offence around Willy's skill set and so he set out to re-create Calvillo style pocket protection without the horses or brains to do it.
  9. With Cotton out both Marshall and Scott should be motivated to put on a show. Hopefully they can duplicate what Messam and Allen do for Sask. rotating them in and out so that they compete with each other.
  10. I hope that Walters is tracking down an "offencive consultant" to help Marcel with his "problem areas" at this very moment. It doesn't have to be a permant addition so an experienced ex-coach like Doug Berry who was an excellent O-Line coach might fit the bill. In the off-season they can deal with Marcel permanently.
  11. Yeah.... but Brohm got a bigger pair of b***ls to withstand the boos from the crowd. Give it time. If Marve plays as poorly as Brohm, the crowd will boo him too. I hope Dominique Davis is ready to be the most popular player in town. To avoid this the Bombers would be wise to start Marve at home and Brohm on the road, there will be plenty of playing time for both in the weeks to come. It doesn't do anybody good to be subjected to that abuse and the Wpg. media will jump all over it just adding to the **** storm.
  12. Yep, too Riderish.
  13. Hopefully he doesn't resort to scrap heapin'.
  14. If Marve is to have any chance at all, he can't be tied to Marcel's "death in the pocket" scheme, he needs to move or he will end up sharing Willy's hospital bed in short order. Marcel is on his last legs and if he can't protect QB's and won't learn to work with Marve's talents than his future is dim. I would suggest they follow Mtl.'s example and bring in an "offencive assistant" (potential Marcel replacement) "like" Jeff Garcia an ex CFL QB to work specifically with Marve. Maybe Buck can fill that role, but I kind of doubt it, he was a warrior but he wasn't much of a General.
  15. They say that behind every cloud lurks a silver lining, so I guess we're about to find out if that's true. As other posters have stated, this injury gives the team the opportunity to face reality and find out for certain if their backup QB of the future resides "in house" or whether they have to keep hunting. The ideal setup for building a contender is to duplicate what Cgy. has done with Mitchell and Tate and there is no better time to get started on that plan then the present. Willy is no longer a young buck so the Bombers have realistically 4-5 years to make runs for the Cup upon his back. If they can sustain a solid one-two punch at QB within that time frame their chances of actually winning a G.C. will increase significantly IMO. The spot light is now fixed upon Brohm and Marve to show all if they can rise to the challenge. They both deserve a chance as does Davis and with first team reps. during practice they will finally be given a fair opportunity to perform.
  16. I think Austin is an idiot for not giving his backup QB reps. when he has ample opportunity to do so. By not preparing another QB to step up, Ham. is one bad Collaros sack from trashing their GC aspirations, and if he goes down in the playoffs they''ll be screwed.
  17. It looks promising for Marve, at least O'Shea broke form last game in replacing Brohm before injury fell him. That's a first.
  18. Da'Rel Scott will start in place of Cotton, according to O'Shea.
  19. I will agree with anything that is pre-faced by "it's bloody well time".
  20. Exactly we are 0-3 against the best two teams in the league only have to face Edmonton once more at home. 3-1 against the rest of the league. If we can win 7 or 8 games in the next eleven, we should make the playoffs. I doubt that a 9 and 9 season even with crossover potential gets us there with three teams in the east already with 4 wins. Gonna have to start counting the free squares on the bingo cards to see what our chances are for the post season. Sweeping the Riders is becoming critical.
  21. Bucknor is not our biggest problem on D, Hurl is Rotate Lin-J Shell/Sherman and Turner/Thomas Leggett at SAM is an interesting thought, Sherman has the speed to be safety I'd like to see Sherman get another crack, whether LB or S. even if it was just in rotation. Last year he made an impact both in stripping balls and getting after the QB.
  22. Unless you're willing to write off this seasons playoff run, they can't change the OC mid-season. Howell as interim or Buck (NO) are the only options available.
  23. I wish we'd have gone after Rene Curran & signed him instead of this assinine "We have to play a Canadian at MLB" mentality. Your MLB sets the tone for the rest of the defense. if he's soft then the rest of the defense is soft. What we have now isn't good enough. If Curran's out there still available we need to bring him in. Pay him & be done with it. Hurl is a total "Mr In-Between", doesn't have the speed to get after the QB effectively and doesn't have the power to make an impact on the ball-carrier, he is the very definition of mediocre.
  24. It's time for Wade to put his uniform back on and start playing dirty by having "informal" talks with potential OC relacements across the league, right now. Keep Marcel till the end of the season than kick him out the door the second it's over and forgo the reviews and associated delays that always leave the Bombers with sloppy seconds when it comes to coaching choices. Give the new man an entire off-season to build his team and to prepare for the over-haul of the offencive scheme that can benefit and protect Willy. If any other team upstages the Bombers with "star" co-ordinator signings in the off-season I'll be pissed. No more gambling on potential, get the best available or steal him away if neccesary.
