  1. The trading deadline prior to the Ottawa expansion draft is upon us.

Obviously by design or not everyone has waited for the last minute to wheel and deal.

Does Walters give up draft picks to get proven Canadians or a QB?

Is there a QB sweepstakes prize for a Calgary QB …. or does Huffer choose to loose 1 QB and keep 2? Is he happy to keep 2 extra Canadians instead off what must be an expensive 3rd QB?

Is this a time to trade for a Canadian lineman or a NI safety for middle round draft pocks?

Is there anybody good enough to give up our first rounder?

Will we have any bidding wars develop?

Opportunity is knocking ….. what should we do?

  2. Much as I hate to say this .... this type of governance works quite well in Rider-Ville and seems to be the difference between a well run football club and what we have been experiencing here in Winnipeg

Our board resembles a self serving old boys club filled with cronyism .... and I don't know what could be worse than that for us

  3. I suggest the Bombers go to a fan elected Board of Governors for our beloved Big Blue:

    1. Hold elections once a year for 4 board members

    2. Each season ticket holder has 1 vote .... no one else has any votes

    3. Term is 3 years

    4. 12 elected Governors in all (so the board is completely turned over every 3 years)

    5. Nominations for elections come from both the club and the general public.

    6. No successive terms of office i.e. no re-elections to a 2nd term ... must sit out for at least 3 years before being nominated again

    7. The board (through change in its constitution) must become more transparent with many of its affairs especially and including a detailed budget.

Would you like to see a community elected BOD over the Blue Bombers?

  4. What I see as different is that the Saskatchewan BOD is elected by the fans (hint: "community": team) once a year rotatinmg all the board over time .. 1/3  of the board changes each year I think

our board is nothing but a cronie old boys club ... we have to change our governace

  5. As much as the Riders are our most traditional rival, I have to give them my begrudging respect.

How exactly did they end up with the best O-line in the league  and we the worst?

Why were they able to develop a decent starting QB and we couldn't?

How come each year they have a realistic chance of getting to the Grey Cup and for us its nearly always a distant hope?

We are both community owned teams so I tend to compare our club with theirs.

Is the difference our board of detractors er I mean directors and their board?

What else could it be besides senior management?

  6. Again your opinion is based on your personal perception vs. reality.

Someone mentioned this and I think it's important to keep this in mind.  Miller is ensconced in the Wpg business community and if he fucks this up and it becomes a public debacle.  It's going to hurt him more anyone else.

I hear his company Pinnacle is having all kinds of profitability issues for a number of years .... nonetheless I love Wade Miller at the controls

  7.

Yeah, I knew I'd get that response. My answer is that I can't see things being any worse under private ownership for the Bombers than the way it is now. How many people are we paying to sit on their asses now? Four?? This is F Troop calibre stupid the way things are being run now. Fans don't trust the process. Judging by the way Miller answers media questions & his  body language it's apparent to me that he doesn't trust the local media. Perhaps just a small group of people in his inner circle.

    ... one

Buchko and Burke is at least two, no?

    We aren't paying Buchko.

And as of right now, we're not paying Burke to sit on his ass either.

How do you know we are not paying Buchko?

  8. Lets look at Hufnagel's perspective on his QBs re th Ottawa draft:

If he does not trade a QB then he keeps either Glenn or Tate and either one is good enough as # 2 and an alternative as BLM goes through growing pains … he also gets to keep 2 more highly rated extra NIs

If Huffer trades 1 QB for a draft pick, then Ottawa takes the other QB and BLM has nothing to back him up

So why would he trade a QB?

If the Bombers want a Calgary QB the price might higher than we expect

It may be our only way to acquire a QB may be through FA

  9.

So there is no need to dump a QB to the Blue because Ottawa isn't going to select any QB IN THE EXPANSION DRAFT ... NOT EVEN TATE

HAVING TATE ISN'T WORTH THE SALARY CAP ROOM HE TAKES UP OR A 3RD ROUND DRAFT PICK?

Pretty sure Ottawa will take Kevin Glenn in the expansion draft.
Glenn is a FA ... why would they?
Glenn is NOT a free agent.
    Ron Burgundy says NO!!!

I think Burris and Glenn are good interim qbs for them. Ottawa will have much qb depth no matter what way they go then the Blue has had in the last many years.

How can we find out for sure about whose contracts are about to expire?

For whatever reason it's not made public. We just find out through various news articles, etc.

So Burgundy has the goods then?

  12.

Ottawa has said they won't pick Fa's but they might do one like Collloras or Muamba just for negotiating rights till Feb 15 .... so who are not FA's?

I am guessing the non-FA number two QBs available  are:

    Nichols

Montreal's other two (besides Smith who they will protect I believe) Marsh or Neiswander

    Hamilton's scat back QB LeFevour

    Willie

    Either Tate or Levi

    DeMarco

So who is worth trading for and with how big a draft pick?

Willy and Demarco are free agents, Burris is a free agent and I would imagine Hamilton will use that to protect Dan LF, Bo Levi will be protected by Calgary and I'm pretty sure Nichols is also a FA

I can't ever remember so many QBs all FA at once …. doesn't give Ottawa much to pick from especially if we trade for Tate

Nichols is likely not even on Ottawa's radar.  Willy is a free agent and Levi (as in Bo Levi?) and LeFevour will be protected.

Well if Willy is a Free agent, then the pre-draft choices to trade for probably come down to Tate or Nichols

I would use a 3rd rounder for either one

If Ottawa is not interested in either of those two, then they take their cheque book to the Feb 15 FA scramble like the rest of us

Anybody know how to check who is scheduled to become a FA?

  15. Will Kyle Walters get fleeced when he tries to trade for a QB before the expansion draft in December?

He has made 3 trades so far:

    1. Wall & our 2nd pick for Neufeld & a 2015 pick

    2. Pierce for Foster

    3. Woodson for Parenteau

How did he do with these 3?

Is he a skilled negotiator or was he just making some noise at Wade Miller's behest?

Would he trade our #2 overall pick (Ottawa has the #1) for BLM, Tate or Willie or someone else?
