  1. "I'm really starting to think you don't like much in terms of the bombers and/or cfl." Taint as your name implies, you have been on my case for a while, like an annoying negatron .... I am not sure why you are sitting on some kind of self anointed throne of self righteous sitting in judgement of those who do not fit your narrow minded world "Other than the around the league thread and reg season bomber thread, most of your threads are negative towards the bombers and/or the refs;" Simply untrue .... just highlighting the issues the issues of the day, avoiding Captain Obvious "GDT vs Mtl starts with stating we have average NI's and how DD > Nichols..etc" I actually said our Canadians were better but in your prejudice you got it backwards .... happens all the time to those with a tainted perceptual field who see what they expect is there instead of what is there .... As to DD vs. Nichols, do you allow people to form opinions different than yours about who might be a better QB? Durant is a proven star, Grey Cup winner, and possibly coming into his best years or maybe he is about to collapse in a heap like Kevin Glenn .... but he played well last night .... Nichols has been the subject of much criticism on this board even as he is winning (can't throw the long pass, too slow picking out or finding secondary receivers, etc ad nauseum).... I think Nichols is decent ... just believe DD is a notch or two better .... how does expressing a judgment make me a negatron Mr. TF? "What would it take to fire a Coordinator" was a piece of sarcasm in reaction to the constant never ending bellyaching theme of so many threads about how awful our two coordinators are .... the conclusion jumpers never did engage their IQ to see what I was actually doing ... I have to concede that a subtle tongue in cheek does not seem to work on this board ... opinion sledge hammers seem to be the requirement BTW at no point was I looking for a coordinators head ... unless and until ,of course, every poster here demands it "Causes: 2 & Outs, late game fading, jekyll & hyde" was a simple attempt to organize and analyze what is ailing our club ... to find a theme or cause for all the little things going wrong, why our performance has been so inconsistent ... how is such a search anything but normal discussion ? search does not equal negatron except in the eyes of a tainted negatron "is it time to professionalize refs - complaining about refs that you thanked in another thread for gifting the bombers a win from the heavens": well giving thanks for a blessing is not exactly negativity, is it ... unless of course you hate God .... my thread was a simple putting forth a solution to one of the CFL's biggest blemishes .... an attempt to be constructive and helpful, not negative "Now I'm not saying people shouldn't bring up the negatives, or put their head in the sands, but you've really become habitually fixated on only the negative side of things" ... I do believe you have it backwards: you are the one who has "become habitually fixated on only the negative side of things" You see Mr TF it is you who has the warped mindset that interprets in negativity, that is, you are out there with some kind of an evangelistic grudge against me. Norman Vincent Peale never said disregard all facts and analysis to achieve The Power Of Positive Thinking ... there is a way to success and it involves thinking your way through through a problem So take off your grey lenses and try some rose coloured glasses And if you see Pollyanna say Hi to her for me Like this
  2. totally disagree ... NFL CFL doesn't matter .... D Coordinators don't want to be embarrassed by a big play with a lead in hand and they insanely change strategy from what has been working ... its the stuff comebacks are made of
  3. Those soft end of game schemes let the offence throw short passes underneath the deeper umbrella ... just don't let them complete a long pass : that would be too terrible for words Of course last night Montreal's prevent D allowed us a chance to win the game, so thanks. The prevent D is why 3 TDs can be scored in the last 3 minutes of a CFL game. It's why the last possession of the first half usually results in a score. I find it unreasonable that a defense that has been mostly tough as hell against the other team's offense should give that up to go soft just because it is nearing the end of a half. Can some one wake Ritchie Hall up to the realities of the soft prevent, please?
  4. Dressler got hurt on Cox's horse collar
  5. I see MOS as a hands-off HC, not over ruling his coordinators much, if it all. I am just wondering whether its time he take a more directing approach with Ritchie Hall. For example, DBs playing a soft 6 yards off the receivers .... can he put forward a change in strategy to Hall?
  6. you had have 2 out of 3 in the lineup all the time and staying very fresh .... just slightly more rotation than now ..... and a MLB actually stopping the run
  7. When Wild gets back I would like to see he and Leggett flanking Knox at MLB ... play 2 Canadians on the DL ... we are rotating anyway .... Corney & Thomas are less of a loss than Hurl being a slow moving pylon
  8. Really amazing, this miracle game ... most encouraging to me
  9. I am giving the happy honker award to Lapo where his dink and dunk to Harris and Lankford kept the never ending Montreal blitz mostly on its heels .... yes they got to Nichols at times but the release passes kept Montreal in check and gave us time to throw down field from time to time.
  10. This season is not going anything like my expectations for our precious Blue. 15 first downs in the 4th quarter... wow! 4 complete quarters this time. We might have just learned how to be a winner .... we certainly have a chance to build momentum in the next few games: we play Ottawa, Hamilton, Edmonton, Montreal, Regina and Regina between now and September 9. Have we created a Frankenstein?
  11. I am hoping that pressure builds for the coordinators to perform, to move beyond their comfort zone just a little bit and push the envelope - - almost every poster on this site wants our Blue to be a more aggressive ... this thread isn't about firing anyone right now: we are no where near the panic button ... we just need to stretch, optimize what we are capable of This thread is also a sarcastic reply to all those relentless critics of our play calling and schemes: SO MUCH BELLY-ACHING WITHOUT THOUGHT AS TO THE REAL CAUSES OF WHAT IS AILING US
  12. This one be one of the oddest comments you've had in a while That is what i get for posting in the middle of the night when too tired for words ... oops
  13. I am seeing today's game as a chance to put it all together, to start to build some momentum Durant is a better QB than Nichols but they can both get the job done I am expecting a lot of blitzing from Montreal but I think Lapo will have us ready to pick such apart We might win the battle of the trenches today .... it's a matter of pride and time to step up .... and Ritchie Hall needs pressure on the QB to keep the cracks from showing up in the secondary ... it seems inevitable we are going to get beat deep a couple of times but we have to limit it to just that How average are our Canadians that we have starting today? Loffler, Walker & Hurl Chung, Goosen, JFG, Harris & Normand I am not sure how much of an edge that is but I think it's a little bit. Our backups might be a bigger edge. How the injury bug goes may determine more than we realize. I expect we will win because we want it more and our confidence is going to come to the forefront, finally.
  14. We have a core of season ticket holders that will always be there .... but look at the variability of attendance this year ... how the Bombers perform and how respected the fans feel by management makes a big $$$ difference .... the Berry firing hurt attendance, for years, for multiple reasons I am not saying we should fire anybody but I am saying how do we know when we should
  15. to fire someone you have to answer to: 1. the overseeing board and or president 2. the senior operating manager 3. the media 4. the ticket buying public or else you need the balls of a self indulgent narcisist
  16. I am not advocating firing any body ... its just the chief gripe on these threads is coaching: play calling, schemes, personnel selection ... and that's not going to change with these coordinators ... so I just wanted to know how our posters would actually fix things ... or else decide what criteria we would use if & when there is an actual need to panic So if we are going to be shaking our fist in the air about coaching performance, lets be action oriented with our solutions ... so we don't get an ulcer or ...
  17. Maybe the rules will evolve a little ... such as you cannot hit a player above the armpits ie shoulder or higher ... something that will eliminate the glancing helmet to helmet hits .... we can't eliminate nut we can start to get rid of the most dangerous accidents ... this probably has to start in the NFL not here
  18. We have all been expressing doubt about the passivity/conservatism of our two coordinators .... So if this is the major-most problem, what circumstances or justification is needed to attempt to make an improvement there? If we make a change during the season would we promote from within or get an outsider? Who would you want if it was during this season?
  19. So you think the primary cause is coaching .... and i guess there is no way to fix that?
  20. The consensus from the coaching thread is that : 1. We don't call the right plays or use the right schemes; we have low football IQ 2. Nichols can't find a receiver 15 yards downfield; he is not very good 3. Our coordinators are not very good and never will be 4. We lack talent and defensive injuries expose this .... our recruiting program has failed especially at receiver, DB & LB. While there is an element of truth to all of these, I believe the thinking is more hysterical than cause centered Whoever mentioned Swaggerville may be getting to the core: confidence, playing in the zone, winner's mentality stuff. Winners find ways to win, losers find ways to lose ... it is all about self belief. Decisions about Hurl and Carmichael are starting to look embarrassing to me in terms of management judgment, injuries are taking their usual toll, and we have not gelled ... not unusual problems. The big deal, the underlying cause, is that we have not yet learned how to win as a team .... in that we are still feeling our way along. Perhaps we need a hot streak against a series of the weak sisters in this league ... that might change everything.
  21. I didn't see that but if that is true monitors please merge this thread into "coaching conditioning"
  22. in the good old days we had charles roberts .... Harris is good but not good enough to carry the whole Bomber team on his back (carrying the other team on his back is the best he can do)
  23. And my point is we have the random expression of frustrations (its the coaches ... its the schemes .. its the...) and nobody is zooming in on what is really going on I would enjoy some real insight and analysis instead of just belches and bellowing at the first thing that comes to mind ... even if it is in several other threads: its just farts; I am hoping for more than that in this thread Our slow starts are not because of a lack of film work or a lack of creativity .... I am wondering about mindset though
  24. What other thread specifically ... and in what focused way?
