  1. Bombers are in a good position. If Nichols is so-so for the remainder of the season then no prob, they can let him go when his contract expires at the end of the season. But if Nichols plays well and can make a difference on a bottom rung team like Winnipeg, you can bet he'll demand (and get) starters money from somewhere as a FA next Feb. No way does he want to be a "reliable backup" to Drew Willy or anyone else. If he plays well, then it's likely Bombers will have to choose between him and Willy as the starter for 2016.I'd say that's crazy talk now, but let's say Nichols were to play great in this offense and lead the Bombers to the playoffs. Let's say he won a playoff game. Is the Willy or Nichols debate more legit, if we can only keep one?
  2. I'm intrigued to see more of Mike Willie or Veltung if Moore is out. I'm intrigued to see more of Mike Willie or Veltung if Moore is out. So both Veltung and Willie did not dress for the Riders?Correct, for the Banjo Bowl. Willie played in the LDC.
  3. @PentonKirk: The #CFL has fined #Ticats head coach Kent Austin $5,000 for bumping #Argos receiver Dave Stala on Friday night.
  4. Picard for Harris?
  5. Nichols is a little more mobile and moves the pocket more than our other QBs this season. Protection, or perceived lack of protection may not be as much of an issue with him. I might get killed for suggesting this, but I wonder if Nichols is a better fit for this offense than Willy? Good point. I wonder who should be backing up who. Let's give Nichols some more games and hope that he doesn't get the crap beat out of him like Willy did.Ya need to see more but some of Nichols qualities seem to really be a nice fit: not as accurate as Willy, but has a quicker release, more mobile and moves the pocket. Willy is more accurate, but isn't very mobile, doesn't move the pocket much and takes longer to release the ball. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I'd just love to have them both signed for a couple years.

  7. That's cool...everyone's entitled to their opinion. Hope you now understand what "about" means. That's cool...everyone's entitled to their opinion. Hope you now understand what "about" means. about means almost or on the verge of...450 is NOT almost or on the verge of 500. Exactly.
  8. That's what I'm finding tough to gauge. Are you sure he won't be in demand this offseason? Montreal, BC and Ottawa could all potentially be interested in him as a starter. Sask possibly as well, depending on Durants recovery.
  9. The Bombers don't need to sneak into the playoffs, they're going to march into the playoffs behind "The Man". I love it!!

  11. I disagree. We can win games with Nichols. I think it'll take 4 more wins to make the playoffs. Let's say we beat Montreal, BC, Ottawa once and another win somewhere. It's definitely doable with Nichols and the D playing at a high level.
  12. That's what I'm hoping, and I'm not saying that's not the case, but you just never know what a guy is thinking and what his agent is telling him. His situation is tough to read... Let's hope the Bombers put on the full court press and try to woo him to stay here. I think it'd take at least Drew Tate money to get him to sign, which is I believe around $200k per season.
  13. Can't force Nichols to sign a contract. I never said that & can't figure out how you came to that conclusion. What I mean is Walters would (hopefully) find a way financially to sign him. Look at the game in BC today. John Beck is no starting CFL qb & he's 34 years old. Just a mirror image of what we had with Brian Brohm. Why would CFL teams sign washed up, old, has been qbs who never did anything as pro qbs? Fans in BC like Winnipeg aren't stupid. Beck shouldn't even be on the Lions roster & why wouldn't Buono have signed a younger more promising qb? They have less than 20,000 in attendance because BC fans are fed up. The Lions are dying. What you said and what you meant are two different things. And who knows, it may have nothing to do with money. Nichols may want an opportunity to start and with Willy here, he may not be interested in Winnipeg. But knowing Walters, he's a smart guy and I see him doing everything he can to get Nichols extended.
  14. Can't force Nichols to sign a contract.
  15. Read the article on why Edmonton's GM traded Nichols to Winnipeg. They traded him here so he'd get an opportunity to start, as a reward for his loyalty, perseverance, professionalism and community work in Edmonton over the past 6 years.
  16. That's cool...everyone's entitled to their opinion. Hope you now understand what "about" means.
  17. Again, do you not understand what "about" half a million means? In my world, that would include $450k. Throw in some incentives for Nichols for games played and you could easily approach $500k.
  18. And if he lights it up there's zero chance we get him. He's an established CFL QB. We know what we're getting. This isn't a CFL rookie making his first career start. Well, you are saying 500k. How would that shake out?300k for Muamb and 200k for Nichols? That is a tad generous, no? Seems everyone misses a key word "about". Could be $250 + $200, or $235 + $200, or $235 + $225. Could include some incentives...
  19. I'm intrigued to see more of Mike Willie or Veltung if Moore is out.
  20. Someone needs to explain that auto ignore function to me. Please? Click on the persons profile then click ignore. Can't do it with moderators, but easy to ignore a specific persons posts whenever u see their name. Exact same as ignore function

  22. 2.. both of his fumbles. First one Stanley Bryant got burned. I'd blame that one more on Stanley.
  23. One thing I really liked about Nichols is that he really sells the play action fake handoff to the RB. Buck Pierce was the worst at that...
  24. I said close to half a million.
