@Darren_Cameron: #Bombers announce the re-signing of another pending free agent.. offensive lineman @DTonhisgrind
-
I don't disagree with any of this. It's just that you said IF we replace him.
-
He's already been replaced with Picard signing.

I think it'd be an okay decision. Both are nice guys, but too mellow. I still think keeping Morley around as a 6th or 7th OL would be smart, with all the injuries the past few years on the OL. Morley is Canadian, reliable and versatile.

Hall most likely to be new DC (Now Official)

Aside from standard severance pay, Benevides isn't getting paid by the Lions this year. Wally included an out clause in the contract that rendered it void if Benevides was fired in 2014. -
@SUNMitchell: Stamps OL Brett Jones has workouts scheduled in Pittsburgh and Philly next. Has already worked out for Tampa and NYG. #CFL #Eagles #Steelers

Not an official announcement. They don't make those on the weekend.Who cares about the official announcement...these decisions always leak on Twitter way before the official announcement. Because the tweets are not always correct. Nothing is official until the the team says it. You're stuck in the 80s!! Twitter announced Etch was the Bombers DC like a month before the official announcement. and this time last week we thought Hall was a guarantee because of Twitter...... But no one said it was done. Once Lawless/Penton/Madani tweet: "have learned Bombers have hired______as their DC", that's official enough for me. -

Did Benevides fire Chapdelane in BC? That could make for an awkward work environment. -

Could this be Benevides using the Bombers as leverage to get more money out of the Riders? If the Riders don't get Benevides, they're screwed and might end up with Etch or Marshall! lol -

Am I understanding this correctly that BOTH Hall and Benevides want to be the Bombers DC, and we're choosing between the two? I thought Benevides to the Riders was basically done. -

@garylawless: after multiple conversations today it appears #bombers are close to making a call between Mike Benevides and Richie Hall for DC. 48 hours. -
Riders release; Bombers sign Dominic Picard

Morley got ejected in one game so that may have skewed his penalty minutes somewhat...I think it was against the Riders.. Maybe but GBills quote was saying Morley lead the league in penalties, not penalty minutes. Not sure there is a penalty minutes in football exactly. It's not like they get called for Holding and sit out for 2 minutes. Re-read it. There's nothing in the quote on penalty minutes. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?? lol -

Found this on the other Bomber message board: According to CFLdb, Picard took less penalties and penalty yardage than all but 2 centers in the league last year. Funny fact, the leading Center in penalties was none other than Steve Morley. -
@HerbZurkowsky1: My spies tell me #Als' OT @JeffPerrett, division finalist for outstanding offensive lineman, has signed a contract extension through 2017.

You can pencil in Jace Daniels at this point at LT. And I'm not convinced January is back with the Bombers, but RT could be an option for him if he is back. -

Players talk. I wouldn't be surprised if Picard talked to Neufeld and Willy before he signed here. The perception of Winnipeg is slowly changing. Could make for a very interesting free agency for the Blue and Gold. -
Hopefully this guy plays more like GRONK!

I prefer Heenan over Holmes because Heenan plays tackle. -

Apparently Ben Heenan and Pat Neufeld are best friends. The plot thickens... -

I was initially shocked at the $195k figure, but I see where Walters got the number from. Picard's contract with the Riders was set to pay him $175k per season, but that was signed under the previous CBA. New CBA the cap went up a little more than 10%. So add 10% to $175k and there's your $195k. The more I think about it the more I think Walters made the right call. One more stud OL and we're in business! I'm okay with giving Heenan $300k per. -

Holy crap that's a lot of money!Yep, way more than I thought. I could be wrong, but I believe this makes Picard the 2nd highest paid OL in the CFL, after Josh Bourke. -

Walters basically committed to Picard as our starting centre this season at today's presser.Banks was our SAM too.All of this is how I feel. I tweeted this morning that the whole thing reminds me of Banks last year, and I got shouted down by a few people. I'll believe the Picard hype when I see it in the summer.Situations aren't similar at all. Banks was released because his GM thought he was washed up. His GM was right. Picard was released for cap reasons, the season after winning his teams top OL award. And Riders tried to bring him back on a restructured contract. If the award was an accurate one... which I'm obviously not convinced of, then you would obviously find someone else to release to relieve your cap stress. Not your supposed "best" offensive lineman, who also happens to be your Center. He was due a $140k roster bonus. That's unheard of.
