  1. Whether Flanders is the answer or not, we need another run threat in the back field to spell off Harris at times and/or use for different run packages that the defense just can't key on AH. A speedy scatback to complement one of the best running backs in the league would be a great change of pace to throw at defenses. Is there any available kicking around with nothing to do?
  2. Both their efforts for extra yards was a thing of beauty. That is football and why I love this game. Instead of going down after a 6 yard gain, getting up and spinning the ball like you just caught the game winning TD, fight for more yards, get back to the huddle and demand the ball. These two, with more grooming, gives us great hope for the future.
  3. Hall has modified from his usual philosophy for the last two games and it's paying dividends right now. We are doing hard contains and making the QB uncomfortable in the pocket. Great recipe for success. Next up, Trevor Harris.
  4. Defense needs to get a score. Scoop and score, pick six take some pressure off the O.
  5. Thought I'd gift 17to85 this little tidbit: Anaheim Ducks coach Randy CarlyleLosing Corey Perry for five months makes for some tough sledding out of the gate, but eyebrows were already raised on Carlyle 2.0 in Anaheim after a meek first-round sweep at the teeth of the Sharks. A fresh voice is waiting in the wings in San Diego in Dallas Eakins. Frank Seravalli
  6. When they were both CFL commentators on TSN, I sensed Lapo and Benevides kind of had a hate on for each other. Should be an interesting game to watch how they try to out scheme one another.
  7. My guess he could have still gone but MOS made a smart move in pulling him from the rest of the game. Just a hunch.
  8. Wonder if it was a charley horse he incurred last game. A hit to the meaty part of your leg will do that.
  9. Nope. Just a hope they are considering working it into their gameplan a bit more than they do.
  10. I agree they've done it, Bombers that is, over the last couple of seasons. Not sure what you mean by consistently as I said previously more teams are doing it it but not much if you look at it from 60 minutes in a game point of view.
  11. Tommy Clements and John Hufnagel comes to mind. Yes I agree not a common practice but at times you do see some coaches keeping their back-ups in after they made their one yard gain for a first down. I just think it's something to explore a little bit more in depth, especially from a strategic point. I say strategic because I fully understand how important it is to ensure you don't negatively screw with the rhythm and psyche of your starting QB. I just find that using a different QB with a different skill set at strategic moments (other than 1 yard plunges), if it presents itself , has nothing to do with not supporting the #1 QB. I think QB controversies and using QB's strategically are two different scenarios.
  12. Yup we scheme Reilly like we did with Manziel, forcing him to stay in the pocket. Contain, Contain, Contain. Unlike Manziel though, this game will be tougher on our coverage guys as Reilly can go through his reads much better than Manziel.
  13. My original post has nothing to do with the scenario "proven" starter struggling and giving more playing time to the back-up. It has to do with using all your weapons strategically at your disposal, in this case at your QB position, and has nothing to do with who is proven. It has to do with keeping the D off balance imo.
  14. Whatever happened to the days that you could use both QB's strategically without fear of melting a snowflake.
  15. With Harris our premium run threat down, have a few customized packages for Streveler to come in forcing more pressure on their contain. 60-70% Nichols Sprinkling in Streveler 30-40%.
  16. Not a waste of time for the bubble players trying the make the show. They aint out there not wanting to get hurt. Plus not a waste of time for the coaches/management to assess their depth.
  17. I'm intrigued by his statement that he has to trust his players and coaches in what to do. Why did he veer off that in the first place?
  18. Kudos to Hall for scheming the front wall to contain Johnny M for most of the night. If 80% of the time Johnny M has to drop back and read he realizes playing in the CFL is a lot harder than he thought it would be.
  19. Yea doing those types of things gets you noticed by the coaching staff. Willing to do the grimy stuff makes you a complete baller and Thompkins showed he may have that DNA.
  20. Manziels flutter balls finding receivers at times reminds me of pick up football we use to play in the school yard. Ugly Ugly Ugly. Dressler looked like he was playing hurt and in protection mode.
  21. The best they get is Jets Alumni.
  22. There in it's simplicity, yet sophistication, is exactly what needs to happen.
  23. We need to pound them into the ground, no mercy but If we shite the bed, I better not hear 'we had the gameplan we wanted, we just didn't execute'. All the mulligans are used up.
  24. I feel Lowry may have a breakout season this year. Imo he has shown tremendous development. I was not a big fan at thestart but have warmed to him considerably in terms of what he brings to this team.
  25. One of my wishes for this season is by game 20 we see a headline on TSN "What's wrong with the Leafs?" This constant Tavares Marner Matthews talk is nauseating.
