Republicans threaten low-wage workers with fraud charges if they’re too scared to go back to work Written by Laura Clawson / Daily Kos May 8, 2020 50 Republicans were really not happy about passing a $600 per week increase in unemployment benefits, and Republican governors are moving to make it impossible for many people to collect it. As Republican governors reopen their states quickly—more quickly than is safe—they force people back to unsafe jobs, and money is the weapon making it stick. If you can theoretically go back to your job, even if it’s unsafe, then you aren’t eligible for unemployment insurance. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/republicans-threaten-low-wage-workers-with-fraud-charges-if-theyre-too-scared-to-go-back-to-work/

Or thieves. Or criminals. Or racists. Or misogynists. Or fascists. The list goes on and on.
  3. It was reported in an interview on CBC this morning that the district attorney had the video the next day but deemed that the killers were trying to affect a citizen's arrest and therefore not culpable. Only when the video went public did he change his opinion. Incidentally, this is the same DA who ordered the arrest of a black civil rights worker who registered to vote and charged her with voter fraud. She was acquitted but the racism is obvious.

If you read Ayn Rand's novels which are the GOP/right wing gospels, its all about personal gain over the common good and the hindmost be damned. Ironically, even though she railed against any government involvement in society as that would favour the unfit, in her latter years, when she was ill and debilitated, she had no hesitation in applying for and accepting financial support from the public purse. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the GOP/right wing thinking in its clearest.

  9. Given the sad history of prosecuting both cops and killers of black men, I do not think this will go the same way it would if the victim was a white person or the killers were not cops. Remember the Zimmerman incident?

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Called Trump Comments ‘Racist,’ ‘Hateful’ in 2015 ‘NOT THE AMERICAN WAY’ Emma Tucker Published May. 07, 2020 5:59PM ET Kayleigh McEnany, the new White House press secretary, has criticized President Trump in the past, calling his remarks “racist,” “hateful,” and “not the American way,” CNN footage from 2015 reveals. McEnany condemned statements Trump made in 2015, when he was a presidential candidate, in which he said that some Mexican immigrants are “rapists.” “To me, a racist statement is a racist statement. I don’t like what Donald Trump said,” McEnany said on CNN. “Donald Trump has shown himself to be a showman, I don’t think he is a serious candidate,” adding, “I think it is a sideshow. It’s not within the mainstream of the candidates.” She also called it “unfortunate” and “inauthentic” to associate him with the Republican party. The press secretary changed course in 2016, securing herself as a vocal Trump defender. She later became a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee as well as for Trump’s re-election campaign. https://www.thedailybeast.com/white-house-press-secretary-kayleigh-mcenany-called-trump-comments-racist-hateful-in-2015?ref=home

Discredited Doctor and Sham ‘Science’ are the Stars of Viral Coronavirus Documentary ‘Plandemic’ CORONAVIRUS GRIFTERS Dr. Judy Mikovits is portrayed as a science genius in a conspiracy film about the coronavirus—but her own research history is dubious and the video is full of bizarre claims. Will Sommer Updated May. 07, 2020 8:16PM ET / Published May. 07, 2020 8:15PM ET Millions of Americans have been exposed to “Plandemic,” a 22-minute conspiracy theory documentary about the coronavirus that racked up millions of views on Facebook and YouTube before it was banned from both sites. In the video, controversial scientist Dr. Judy Mikovits, a close associate of anti-vaccine activists, weaves an elaborate tale alleging a government conspiracy to create the coronavirus, with Anthony Fauci as a kind of murderous puppetmaster behind it all. Along the way, she claims that masks “activate” the virus, and that she was imprisoned as part of a cover-up. https://www.thedailybeast.com/plandemic-the-viral-coronavirus-documentary-stars-a-discredited-doctor-and-sham-science
  12. I have no confidence that these two cops will face any serious jail time or legal consequences. They are cops and have been connected in the past with the local district attorney's office and the victim was black. They will probably get house arrests on weekends and be back on the job in six months after being suspended at full pay.

There is an email circulating that purports to be from a Japanese professor of medicine who was alleged to be associated with the Wuhan Virus Institute and he is quoted as saying that the Coronavirus was absolutely created and released. Snopes has identified this as fake, although Dr, Honjo is a Nobel recipient. Another racist attack by the Trumpsters.

Sweden is testing conservatives’ preferred coronavirus response — and it’s not going well ( Written by Daily Kos May 7, 2020 Many conservatives are in love with the idea of Sweden’s approach—no lockdown. They don’t take into consideration that half of Swedes live alone, or that they have a top-notch universal healthcare system. They just think “no lockdown” is a better response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. If nothing else, Sweden’s alternative response to the virus was … a good control group. And what we’re learning now is that failing to shut down hasn’t just led to more deaths, but—surprise surprise!—it also didn’t prevent its economy from tanking. In fact, Sweden is poised for more economic pain than its neighbors. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/sweden-is-testing-conservatives-preferred-coronavirus-response-and-its-not-going-well/

Trump spews a disturbing and angry rant about the Obama administration over the Flynn case MSNBC Written by David Badash / The New Civil Rights Movement May 7, 2020 21 President Donald Trump is baselessly accusing the Obama administration of “treason,” following the news the Dept. of Justice has dropped all charges against his former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, despite Flynn having pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. “The Obama administration Justice Department was a disgrace, and they got caught, they got caught,” Trump claimed, which is false. “Very dishonest people, but much more than – it’s treason, it’s treason.”

I would not rule out either a scorched earth policy or incitement to violence. Trump will intimate but probably not directly call for violence in response to an election loss.

Woman who accused Fauci of sex assault now says Trump supporters paid her to lie Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dr. Anthony S. Fauci attends a coronavirus update briefing Tuesday, April 7, 2020, in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room of the White House. Written by Travis Gettys / Raw Story May 7, 2020 5 A woman who had accused Dr. Anthony Fauci of sexual assault now claims she was paid to lie about the public health expert by a pair of President Donald Trump’s supporters. The woman says right-wing provocateur Jacob Wohl and his frequent accomplice Jack Burkman persuaded her to cast Fauci as the assailant using details from an actual sexual assault she survived just after high school, and they paid her to do it, reported Reason. https://www.alternet.org/2020/05/woman-who-accused-fauci-of-sex-assault-now-says-trump-supporters-paid-her-to-lie/

And you ain't seen nothing yet. Hospitals in Texas are gearing up for a massive wave of Covid19 cases following the lifting of restrictions. The governor acknowledges that there will be a surge of cases and accompanying deaths, but pleasing his (mostly) insane base has priority.
