  7. That otta motivate him.
  8. Kinda early to speculate, but I was a bit concerned about the Argo kickoff return, but the Bomber D looks to have settled in and picked up where they left off.
  9. I think the 1% now have the same attitudes towards the average person as did the nobility of the middle ages who, in their opinion, ruled with absolute power by divine right. There was and still is an attitude that the masses are disposable and useful only so far as they serve a useful purpose.
  10. Agreed, but if you have been living a bloated lifestyle for generations, why would anyone believe its coming to an end?
  11. If we persist in this mad, destructive pattern of consumption and unchecked population growth, sooner or later Mother Earth will hit the reset button. The obscenely rich are gambling that they will be able to insulate themselves from this.
  12. Agree. The Stumps tried to let the Als back into the game, but Adams had little time and his receivers had dropsies.
  13. Still a Thor-ax. So there.
  14. Switzerland and Iceland are two current examples- both socialist democracies.
  15. And, to be anatomically thorough, below the waist are what are referred to by the medical profession as "naughty bits"
  16. Now you've gone and ruined it.
  17. If you were paying attention, you would know that a thorax is a cleaving tool wielded by a mythological Norse god. You would have seen it in the "Endgame" movie. And the Bomber should not take the Argo-nots lightly. I am expecting a much tougher game today from them.
  18. Jaw-dropping scandal leaves Minnesota GOP 'in ruins' Just months after suffering an upsetting loss during the 2020 presidential election, Minnesota Republicans are now left reeling as a result of the latest loss. On Thursday, August 19, Jennifer Carnahan, wife of Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-Minn.) and embattled chair of the Minnesota Republican Party, submitted her resignation, adding more insult to injury for the ailing political party. To make matters worse, Carnahan is also "accused by party officials and former staffers of running a toxic, retaliatory workplace, mismanaging party finances and, through the use of non-disclosure agreements, squashing transparency." Her resignation came just days after Republican donor Anton "Tony" Lazzaro was hit with an indictment of federal sex trafficking charges. Gisela Castro Medina, chairwoman of the University of St. Thomas College Republicans, was also arrested in connection with Lazzaro's scheme as she was accused of assisting him in the sex trafficking of minors. The publication reports that the accusations against Carnahan and her alleged affiliation with Lazzaro likely contributed to her abrupt departure from the political party. Now, some members of the party are speaking out about the latest scandal and its impact on the political party. "The party is in ruins," said Michael Brodkorb, former deputy chair of Minnesota's Republican Party. He added, "I don't know if the party has hit rock bottom yet." 19. I am NOT a libertarian- that works only in small, tribal communities. I can agree that there have been societies and governments (almost the same thing) which have tried to institute a socialist government but instead have degenerated into dictatorships, but I believe that right-wing parties and governments have been shown repeatedly by history to be far more probable to become autocratic. The prevailing attitude of right-wing adherents is that they know what is best for everyone and have given themselves the right to manipulate, lie and rule by fiat. The most stable and enduring societies are both democratic and with strong socialist policies and practices. Disagree. Societies defined by individual or group greed have inevitably imploded.
  20. Plus a whole armory of stuff that ought to serve the Taliban well in Iraq, which will be the next stop in their tour.
  21. Democracy is still the best form of government to date, if you assume that we need government. As Winston Churchill said, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the other forms". Socialism and democracy are or rather, should be, mutually inclusive. Capitalism does not need democracy and several American industrialists have said that it actually a detriment to their goals. Monocultures in both agriculture and societies lead to stagnation and entropy, and the corollary to that is that societies and thus governments ought to evolve, so long as the welfare of the society takes precedence over the wealth of the few.
  22. I did say that there were downsides to this. Oriental toilets, for example.
  23. But we can take the best of those societal concepts and incorporate them, much as the Japanese incorporated much of western societal concepts but kept much of their traditional culture. Not that all of those traditional concepts were good, but the example is valid, IMO.
