don't get me wrong..I totally agree, and was trying to convey that measurable's will get a guy the foot in the door 9 times out of 10 over the lunch bucket type guy, with the work ethic and the desire he has knowing he has to do more than use his resume..that was my posts's intent with the comment on game action as opposed to just measurables and practice analysis Gimme a guy with smarts and work ethics and run of the mill measurable's 8 times outta 10 over a combine star..especially when after viewing the 22 man tape and seeing what guys do when they don't have the ball..aren't the primary person in a play..a lot of the times where a player coasts through High School..JUCO..NCAA based on talent alone, they get surpassed by the 3..4..5th round guys who had to work..know how to work and get better and adapt to each level..whereas the "top" ranked guys can't...or don't know how...and flop
-
To be honest measurable's are a huge part..almost to the point of being relied on too much...we use it extensively in training/recruiting and in getting guys looks at camps, but there is no better gauging of a guy than in live action, as in a great percentage of cases drills, practice and ex. games don't do a player justice...I am a measurable guy, and heavily rely on them to evaluate and aid in recruitment, and I like Orange's numbers, as well as some of the measurables that most general fans don't get the chance to see..there are others used outside of 40 time, vertical..3 cone..etc...and outside of Claypool was right at the top, and of realistic draft picks most likely not to be gobbled up by NFL teams and not available to CFL teams immediately I would have ranked him as the best WR prospect.. Comparison to Simonese isn't fair either...he was out of ball...off in a funk and I don't think his head was properly invested in the game, and still didn't look like it in BC as well..Had great flashes in practice..worked hard most days, had the look and tools, but something was not there...too bad as he could have been a top flight Canadian WR....Have yet to see Orange in person, but a day or two of watching him will be pretty key to seeing what he has...I like that pick And further to the draft from what I hear/know we got the best, well rounded DB prospect in Hallett, and the one most likely to step in a CFL lineup and take starters reps of all the DB's available...and the Kicker is the best to com out of Canadian College ball in forever...I'd score the draft this year a huge success..A- in my opinion and that pretty dam good considering where we picked

Yeah...thats funny...I guess oline..Canadian receiever, National DT...SAM LINEBACKER....ZERO NATIONAL DB DEPTH...Is no need..must be nice...another funny i read in a recent article was one that said the Riders had arguably the best O-line depth...believe it was penned by a Sask lackie writer as well
-
Yup we have a glut of O=lineman and are gonna lose one for nothing if we don't trade one...Couture..Speller..Desjarlais..Gray have all shown they can start and be very effective, and if Eli keeps his nose to the grindstone and truly has decided he is in the league for the long haul then he will be better than the aforementioned..Talking to people I know at a camp over the winter they were shocked he was in Winnipeg (shocked because of his talent and also the fact that he was back playing) because he was a legit NFL prospect..and has the ability to be dominant..hopefully an extended covid delay won't knock him off the rails again Bennet I was hopeful would slip down in draft, but doubt it...he's better than most draft prognosis have stated...but you never know and being a Winnipeg kid if we did get him..or moved up to get him you can be assured he's be a fixture here for years
-
If anything it would be Speller dealt out that way...Speller...a starting calibre (proven) Canadian O-lineman for that pick is win win for both teams..And still leaves us with Desjarlais..Neufeld,,Couture..Gray..Eli and Koloanskowski...still tons of National depth
-
yeah that draft, and the high upside potential of Oliveira, Eli and Griffths affords us the luxury of this year not really having a need to roster someone from this draft, and would be a good draft for us to draft a futures type guy who may not surface here for a year or 2 We'll be getting significant contributions from Oliveira, most likely Griffiths and Eli this year (second yr guys at that) and more progression from Exume and Hallett...far more than what any draftee will give us this year as he learns the pro game coupled with the fact on offence all our starters and back-ups are back and with what we have brought back, and signed on defense all will be more usefull than a fresh faced college graduate...be perfect time to look at a futures guy in my opinion

yeah havn't seen or heard a peep from any of them around here..guess dial up modems are over worked with pandemic, mind you most are probably just in their momma's basements trolling the internet as usual anyway so it's status quo there

lost in all this was Milt put up his numbers for the majority of his career playing with complete garbage for a QB..unlike Pitts and Simon..Imagine if Milt played with a star for a solid 8-10 years of that career -
Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Booch replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
almost certain now that this will be the end of any new upstart for at least a decade...if not forever...and especially since Vince is not paying guys who were/are guaranteed money he will never dip his toe back into this again...and based on how the AAF foundered, can't see nobody doing it again truth be told -
Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Booch replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
more importantly..this will be the last venture by Vince and any of his holdings trying to resurrect a league....again...and most likely any other attempt -
no...You are all forgetting the team top the West with no holes on their roster...they were gonna steam roll the league
-
no real issue league wide as nowhere have I ever heard a guy get canned for not wanting to do certain things roster/sms wise via an injury list..looking further into it as well seems there were/are other issues of him lining his pockets somehow with Eskimo money that wasn't part of his contract As for cottage goers..I as well have a place in Northern Ontario on one of the chain of lakes by Blue Lake north of Vermilion Bay..It's a place that is liveable and fully functional 12 months a year, and I get mail there as well, so try and stop me from going back and forth for extended stints..
-
yeah that was more implemented when the league itself was on rocky ground...to protect interests of owners, and the publically ran teams like WPG..EDM...SSK

well...he like me see's Exume as a guy who can push for a spot at boundary corner,,and will have opportunity to do so was one nugget....also said he (walters) won't be as entertaining as Strev, and if he doesn't stick in NFL would be welcoming him back Josh Johnson was a guy they had looked at last year as well...likes his versatility as he can play anywhere in secondary...same with Maston once he got healthy -

He suggested him to, but i never saw it shut down..had it streaming for over 3 hours while I "worked" from home and it just kept rolling along...was damn good entertainment I must say. On a selfish note I sure hope his NFL chance doesn't pan out...He would be a all time great sports celebrity up in Canada without a doubt -

He's got his Nana on now with his sis..she having a shot too..hahaha...as did Stanley and B.ALexander -
why not...you broadcast it perhaps as a pay per view thing...online and with cable...season ticket holders get it for free...the rest of the general public order it...still generates some revenue...advertising dollars can be earned..not an ideal or perfect scenario but easily doable...other leagues and NCAA were gonna consider it, so it's not like it's non-attainable by any stretch
-
I also think Coach **** really has no place in saying that...really...who's he to make that assumption Could say he isn't invested as a serious coach as half time his headset is dangling around his neck...seems to have no control of his players as the extra curricular b.s goes on and on...case in point banjo bowl...and the other constant yapping and mugging for camera...so really he should keep his pie hole shut truth be told If any of our guys pulled what the rider dorks did at Banjo Bowl...U could bet Oshea wouldn't have let them see field again that game...and a guy like Kindly Cal would possibly cut him..as I remember the time he cut a guy at halftime one year
-
Yeah a team with a consistent coaching staff...minimal turnover and being able to hit ground running right away not having the growing pains of integrating new players..schemes..etc is gonna be huge in a shortened season...especially along an o-line and we are set up pretty well with everyone back on the whole offensive side of the ball
-
YEah this record will never be broken I don't think ever...considering the most recent player to get in the top 5 (Geroy Simon) fell 33 TD's short, while playing one more year (15 to 14) tells me it will never happen. Other than Allen Pitts 10 years no other guy in the top played less than 13 years..Pringle..Reed
-
I'm shocked nobody has mentioned Milts record breaking TD at the old barn..and the crazy thunderous eruption that created..one of the loudest moments I have personally experienced in not just a CFL stadium but from across North America
