This is kind of a deep dive but fascinating. It relates back to that dossier on Trump that gained traction and then was dismissed...but began gaining traction again. I think Trump and his team have done a fairly good job of branding things as "fake news" and his supporters accepting that. This is pretty interesting take:

The only leverage Jets had other than being the organization he's used to (attended camps) and being close to home was the ability to burn a year. Have to think he picks his team now.

He'd get a signing bonus to sign here. But if he's not able to play then he doesn't burn year one of a two year deal which was the advantage Jets had in signing him. All teams will have an equal shot now, assuming he doesn't change his mind. Pretty disappointing. Given the speculation of him signing today one can infer he and the jets were close. Hopefully he still wants to play here.

Maurice is doing this because of "feelings". He knows better then anyone. Just ask him, he'll tell you. By the way, #MoMustGo

Yup and that sort of removes the Jets's advantage. If he's signing two years no reason to sign now. Hopefully it doesn't change anything.

Matteo Genarro also has to sign a contract with the Jets or he'd go back into the draft. I'd expect the Jets to sign him. His team is still playing but, I believe, down 2-0 in their playoffs (Hitmen)

RFA based on years and age. So they'd still have him til 27 (or 7 years pro) So four years from now. Not really a big deal. He'd have to have a hell of a season next year to make I a tough negotiation. Unless he's amazing or a bust Jets probably re-up him next year without much of an issue. But signing what amounts to a 1 year deal is part of the incentive to get him to sign with the Jets now I suppose

So if he signs 2 years and plays a game this season that would make next season the final year of his elc?

I sort of wonder if there is something wrong with Trump. It seems difficult to believe he'd lie knowing everyone knows hes lying. Does he have memory issues?

jets are done. Why not give Laine tons of ice time. If the jets lose every game but Laine scores every game in fine with that. Their going to lose anyway. Let the players play.
