  1. i keep shaking my head whenever i see someone suggest that Ray won't be our QB next season...

I don't disagree with you Bluto .... but Ray is what 35? At SOME point you have to consider it, especially if you think you have a young, viable option on hand. Look at Montreal. They kept Calvillo for too long imo.

  2. At least it sounds like they are actively pursuing a qb .... which is an improvement.

And I agree, you can't assume anything - like BLM is untouchable. Who would have thought Ray was going to be traded? Ask, then ask again. If that doesn't work ask again :)

  3. Watch how many of Hall's passes were behind the receiver.

Or 3 feet too high.  He needs to settle his feet down.  Reilly has 3 guys in his face and he can stop his feet to make a throw.  Hall never does.  He turns an open receiver into a covered one because he can't place the ball.

    Well put.

  4.

I don't get why they have to start both new tackles. Why not put Pencer at RT, at guard, and Paliwoda as the 6th OL? Surely it would be better to start the guys who have been here all year and put a new guy in as the 6th OL rather than a starting tackle?

my guess is trial by fire. see what they got (at the risk of a dead qb or 2) during preseason 2014 (which is what this.half of the season essentially is) That or the staff truly believe that they scouted some great prospects OR they feel that our tackles have been so bad that it cant get any worse..

for the record, id have gone with Kowalczuk at guard, pencer at tackle as well but with a morbid curiosity i eagerly await friday to see whats going to happen, lol.

     Carnage.

    That's my expectation.

  5. The things about what you guys are calling fluke passes if anyone other quarterback Ray Burris or Durant throw that same pass, its putting it up and allowing your receiver to make a play. Since he does not have experience its fluke passes. At least Hall is getting the ball out to the receivers and so they can make plays.

Nonsense. There's a difference between putting the ball up in a place where your receiver has an advantage, and just throwing it into a crowd. It's called good quarterbacking.

  6. How do we get how awful stats in one half? Follow the bouncing ball...it's quite easy to see.

    1st quarter

1st play of the game is a completion for a 1st down, but wait, an offside takes that away. Then a running play, then a good play by the DB for an int.

Sask. has the ball for the next 5 minutes and kick a FG.

Then Will Ford has the nerve to take away more Wpg. possession time with that kickoff return TD.

Sask has the ball for 3 more mins. We get an int and poss. for a 1 min before Edwards drops that catch. Result ...punt

Sask has the ball the rest of the quarter.

Total possession time for Wpg.....less than 2 mins.

    2nd quarter

After Sask FG we get the ball for a minute and a half before Kohlert drops a first down catch

We punt, then hold Sask and they punt, whereby JJ is stripped of the ball.

    Result no possession. Sask FG

We get the ball...1 yard run, then a sack...punt 1 min poss.

Trade punts Poss. Wpg....less than a min.

Wpg. poss  2 runs, then punt.

We punt, get a fumble, one sack, one incomplete pass.   Wpg FG

Sask uses up 2 min and get a FG.

Total poss time Wpg.....just over 5 and a half minutes

    Poss first half....under 8 minutes

And another reason why stats don't always tell the whole story.

    Neither did you B) . A pretty one-sided re-telling.

  7.

This should get Pencer onto the 42 man roster too.

I'd bet our OL will now be

    January--Greaves--Sorenson--Parenteau--Swiston

    Pencer

Assuming this is true, do you then keep Cauchy at safety, or throw an import there since you now have the flexibility to do so?

If we can get an import playing safety without negatively affecting the O-line, that's a no-brainer IMO. Safety is currently a weak spot.

I'm not sure our O-line improves, but it may not be any worse.

  8. I don't think there's anything he can do short of pulling off a great blockbuster trade for a prime time qb. Every GM of a losing team brings in guys who start making an impact, yes even Joe Mack did it for all you haters. When you're so far down as the Bombers were there's nowhere to go but up and I simply don't trust the "imrpovements" that come in the back end of a crappy season.

I got nothing against Walters, but if he's the GM next year it's a total gamble and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that. Much rather see them do the complete process and turn over every stone looking for the absolute right guy. If it winds up being Walters after that search then so be it.

    This. All of it.

I have no complaints about what Walters has done thus far, however we should still do an exhaustive search for the best available GM in the post season. If it's him, great. Too many times we have taken the convenient way out of these things.
