  1. Chad Kelly is on about his 5th chance to improve, accept help and counselling. If the Argos are serious he's gone and so is Murphy. Remove the toxicity or allow it to fester. Too bad he posted it on Twitter. Not giving them any traffic. He wasn't in Canada. A man who is well-versed in being emphatically full of ****.
  2. Pinball is constantly adjacent to scum bags. Brings in Murphy. Had a whole crew of NFL criminal losers there when he was the coach in the 00's. Chad Kelly.
  3. Siegel is a legit ball hawk. Super aggressive type of corner, played a lot in the slot too. Saw him play quite a bit for UND. He didn't return punts there but I wonder if he might get a look up here.
  4. Here's something stupid: So the CFL has a Canadian QB internship program. And U Sports runs the East-West bowl, which is a huge scouting event for the CFL. And of course they run the East-West bowl on the first weekend of CFL training camps. So....a bunch of the Canadian QB's in the program are not in the CFL camps getting reps. And CFL GM's have to choose to be at their own camp or at the East-West. WHY?
  5. That's a pretty big penalty on Argos if they don't get relief on his bonus.
  6. "Cap" isn't applied at all until the end of the season. It's a salary management system, not a hard cap. The only major pro league in North America with a hard cap is the NHL. Meaning that the cap number is calculated daily within the season and if a team is over the league will automatically put on waivers the player(s) needed to make the team meet the cap number. For CFL they simply add up salary and bonuses paid Jan 1 to Dec 31 - exemptions for 6 game following the season. You could play way over the pace to exceed the limit and the penalty isn't applied until after the season and on the next draft. I don't think he's coming but almost anyone could make room. I'd bet heavily on Toronto or BC should he ever return. They'd trade or cut their current starter.
  7. Drummond was crazy good on the Flutie Argo teams. Other than that, basically an above average American back.
  8. Good player in his time, part of some great teams, not a HOFer. Just like someone like Ron Williams. Personally I wouldn't have put Kelvin Anderson either but he was very consistent for a long period. Wouldn't put Jermaine Copeland in either and he has a ton of numbers. Just not dominant guys.
  9. I'd take Menard at Bennett's salary if he really wants to keep playing. He's a pretty good fit as the kind of guy who can pass rush from interior too. Bennett can't do much. See what Hubert looks like in camp. We could really use a National/Global guy who can be useful on special teams and take some snaps off the edge. Bennett is neither. Gotta imagine a few teams would be after Makonzo again provided his expectations are low in terms of where he would slot in. Gives some cover at WIL and SAM plus special teams.
  10. There's so few reporters on the CFL beat it won't be long until JC Abbott and John Hodge are in the HOF.
  11. There's an exhaustive list with credentials of the American receivers coming into camp in Tait's receiver preview. Where do you think Bailey came from? Receiver is hardly a concern here. Rush end is a spot I personally would have been more active on. The Bombers were a completely different and not good defense without Jeffcoat. Jefferson is declining and was not a factor (positively, negatively yeah) when Jeffcoat was down. Hardrick was bad last season. Don't believe he will be hard to replace. More concerned about Canadian spots on line personally. Some limitations and age issues there basically with all the guys we have.
  12. Drummond played parts of 8 seasons and was a primary back for the Argos in 2 seasons, Lions in 1. Otherwise shared the backfield. Not a CFL HOFer.
  13. I'd rather have Schoen and Lawler than Schoen OR Lawler and Bailey. Talent level is much higher than it would be if we kept the slightly above average vets.
  14. Dave Dickenson was the 2000 CFL MOP. Drummond just didn't have the longevity. But he won 4 Grey Cups in his short career. IMO the CFL HOF is already way too broad. Like Marvin Coleman? Calgary Stampeders Hall of Fame sure...league Hall of Fame...don't think so. Should be guys that were the absolute best player at their position or in that conversation for a significant period of time.
  15. Torn his achilles twice. Not a good fat man injury.
  16. Feet and movement is the entire game. Watch Hardrick last year try to lean on guys and them in Collaros face 0.3 seconds later. We're not running 40 times a game. So he's got a long way to go from my view of his videos out there. Both in terms of keeping his feet engaged and bending (lowering) his hips so he doesn't get lifted...which is a big issue if he's playing inside run or pass.
  17. Interesting note in terms of CFL business and Winnipeg Football Club... Valour FC is getting absolutely skunked on their season opening road trip. Think this team will be folded after this season.
  18. The level of athleticism should be increased. Clercius is an exciting guy to me. When you watch his videos he competes really hard and is a hell of an athlete with that size. There's a lot of downfield shots in there, he's great at tracking the ball and finishing the play. Skill set is a bit of a mix of Demski and Wolitarsky. The willingness to go hard in blocking and special teams as a receiver is huge too....not often a guy who has those ball skills is that willing. Only concern there is long-term if he does turn into something he might have the pull to head home.
  19. Think of Clercius as depth but also him and Chris-Ike as replacements for Mike Miller/Damian Jackson on O. Let's hope they can be effective role players immediately. Also BOLO replacement and cover in case Augustine hangs them up. I can't see both Clercius and Chris-Ike not being on the roster. They need to backfill BOLO. I guess Murphy could be the guy. Probably won't be dressing 7 OL either.
  20. Brubacher is pure rush end and raw. Would have been a fine pick, guy could end up being a star (could also stay where he is now, a guy who is an athlete but plays football completely upright relying on speed), doesn't seem to be what they were after for DL. Samson is an interior player, looks like a guy who is much more ready to play pro. Physical, gains leverage, low pad level. If you watch that film clip of him uses he hands effectively to get off blocks, uses power and leverage too. Great pursuit to the ball. Samson is kind of a guy everyone forgot about because he didn't do the CFL combine circuit and did the UBC pro day instead. But Bombers didn't forget about his East-West testing last year and his film.
  21. Gassama is a great kid. Don't know what he does in the CFL at 158 pounds even being a freaky athlete (but not very fast). Feels like an obligatory pick a Winnipeg kid who plays for Bisons pick.
  22. The NYJ camp a handful of the CFL draftees are going to is May 3-6.
  23. Gap filler type. Played end at Mac. All motor, no moves that will play here. Needs to develop inside rush moves IMO. Might get some 1st down reps at end, read and set edge kind of thing.
  24. Their mini camp is next weekend. Our rookie camp starts the Wednesday after, full camp the Monday after that.
