  1. I'd be happy if Bennett could be a poor man's Fernand Kashama.
  2. If BC struggles at all they will fade hard. There's no culture there and Campbell is a terrible head coach. Cannot believe he's the GM too. Their only hope is Evans taking over. Guys like Rhymes will be belly aching pretty quick.
  3. I think relative to the competition they’ll be in the mix. BC is taking a giant step back IMO. Calgary and Sask are mediocre IMO. It’s really the Bombers, Argos and Ticats in the top tier but both the Eastern teams have pretty significant QB question marks, I just think the Argos D is the type that can control games and put points up themselves. I could see Montreal getting hot for a bit and being closer to .500, but Ottawa will stay putrid. They have no QB, even with Masoli I don’t see them being a team that scores more than 17-18 points a game. Edmonton has a strong run game which combined with a nice receiving core should be hard to defend so long as they are willing to lean on the run. They’ll have an average D schemed up for pressure which will eat up most QBs in the league right now.
  4. I’m guessing it’s more his position group. So Betts, Menard etc
  5. Wouldn’t even need the nationalized American rule for the DI RB. Just throw BOLO or a fullback out there every down and have one less American receiver. Like you say can use Bailey half time in that scenario too. I think they have a lot of misplaced faith in Augustine to carry that role if Oliviera was out for awhile…but even if he can he has no backup. We really need some of the Canadians on D to pan out. We know Gauthier and Briggs can be role players, we NEED Thomas and Lawson to hold down one spot, but we really need Bennett to be an adequate player for 20-25 snaps a game and we need Hallett to stay healthy. I don’t think they want to throw Kelly out there as a rookie unless it’s complete desperation.
  6. Bombers 12-6 Riders 10-8 Stamps 10-8 Elks 9-9 Lions 6-12 Argos 12-6 Ticats 10-8 Als 6-12 Redblacks 5-13
  7. Playing for U of R. Redshirted last year due to injury.
  8. Cause Clements switched. Apparently can't have a 0 and a 00, but can have either. And wore 4 at Towson the last couple years.
  9. Yeah was thinking more defensively and Canadian, but you're right. Keep finding DB's too. DL/LB are kind of a dead zone though.
  10. It is a bit worrying to not really add anyone substantial as rookies a few years in a row both American and Canadian. Because when guys do retire or get injured you're hooped. Plus everyone on the team is better if the depth is strong. If Jefferson plays 2/3 plays he's a far better player. It would be nice to see some guys get pushed out. And not even the top level guys, but say a Briggs, an Augustine. We have a lot of old, kind of expensive guys in depth roles.
  11. I think he could be useful on the DL. He has the build and skills to play both end and 3 technique. Just kind of a motor guy. I'm not really sure why they only gave him reps this week as a blocker on O. There's no way in hell he gets on the roster there, nor should he. He's basically American Jon Oosterhuis in that role. And again, there's no one in a NFL camp today that will be up here this season. Very unlikely. With the increased size of practice rosters, having to give up the rest of the NFL season to sign here and limited number of games now in the fall plus the USFL/XFL guys aren't coming north if they are anywhere close to the NFL.
  12. Could see it for special teams. Burtenshaw out for awhile. Probably displaces Schmekel if anyone.
  13. Linebackers should have the easiest time standing out too. Heat seeking missile. Show that you have those instincts that always have you near the ball and making plays, we’ll refine those instincts into a pro player. Was sad to see that position group including Wade get dummied both games. Gauthier had some nice plays and Cadwallader is always near the ball.
  14. In a weird way I think Brown is trying to be Zach Collaros junior with his arm when he could use his legs a bit more and look to run when he scrambles not to pass. Collaros certainly did when he was younger. Brown has to let that development happen and take what’s in front of him.
  15. Lafrance might be a replacement for Burtenshaw.
  16. If Schmekel does get in they need to coach him up on how to take on the double team on the inside zone if he’s playing nose. In U Sports he probably just splits it, but against better players he’s going to have to just eat the blocks and make a pile so the OL can’t get up to the backers. He was getting moved all over the field in both games and our defense was giving up like 8 yards a carry when he was out there.
  17. There was no doubt they had lost trust in Liegghio and were openly looking to replace him after really trying the approach of coddling him and having no true competition last year to the detriment of winning a championship.
  18. The NFL cuts coming north are the guys who get clipped in mini-camp. They are already here. The guys cut out of main camp hang around. Practice rosters are expanded in the NFL, plus the second-tier leagues now. The midseason air lifts don’t happen anymore.
  19. Riders have Lauther and Vedvik. Most teams have a Global punter that's looking pretty good. Edmonton needs a placekicker.
  20. More maneuvering to come. By my count they have 6 guys left who would need a DI spot to get on the roster. Makes no difference until next season cap-wise. If they wanted the best cap value they'd have kept Liegghio doing all three jobs. The only kicker not making minimum is Castillo.
  21. Maruo is basically an end. They'll run a lot of 30 with him as a standup end.
  22. Because they ran out of kicking nets.
  23. I hope they use Lawson a lot more this season. Might help vs the run so we don't get gashed as much. Use Thomas on passing downs more.
  24. WIL, DT and DE are big concerns. As they were last year. Hoping Cole can do more than chase kicks this year, but he didn't show much in preseason. Thomas looks good at DT, but they have to get him on the roster. Not too enthusiastic about any of the rookie edge guys, need to see more of Haba. Bennett won't be much more than filler.
  25. And even 2019 and 2021 when the D was rolling it was based on depth. Jefferson especially wasn't out there every down. Jeffcoat often was when he was able to dress. But the success of that pass rush was predicated on dressing 7-8 DL. Jeffcoat, Jefferson, Kongbo, Hansen, Richardson, Nevis, Thomas was the 2019 playoff DL. Roh filled in that season when Jeffcoat was out. The depth is really lacking now.
