  1. I'm disappointed we have to start McGee at SAM. I was really hoping for a guy like Dunn or Marshall to step in there and impress....

    Oh well.

As for Mainor, how much did he play in the home exhibition? Was it a mere 5 minutes or an extended amount of time? If he's won the starting spot, I wonder how Zach Anderson will fit in with the team?

As for Isaac, isn't he injured as well?

  2. QB:  Pierce, Goltz, Hall

    RB:  Simpson, Ford, Volny

    FB:  Pontbriand, Fitzgerald

REC:  Matthews, Denmark, Anderson, Poblah, Watson, Etienne, Kohlert

OL:  January, Douglas, Pencer, Morley, Sorensen, Greaves

DL:  Hall, Turner, Gilmore, Mainor, Harris, Lucas, Thomas

    LB:  Muamba, Labbe, Parker, McGee

DB:  Johnson, Suber, Washington, Stewart, Markett, Muamba, West

    ST:  Cvetkovic, Palardy, Renaud

There's your 42.  They'll find spots for likely another 18-20 players on top of that between the injured lists, 4-man, and practice roster

    interesting.

I don't see the need to keep Lucas on instead of Stephan. And I disagree that they will keep Mainor this year.

I think the front 7 will be

Harris Gilmore Turner Hall Anderson Thomas

    Parker Muamba McGee Labbe Stephan

I think We keep Stephan around for 2 reasons. we need an emergency fill in at WILL. Labbe doesnt cut it on defence. Stephan would be way more beneficial on ST's than Lucas as well.

  3. I think Watson and Poblah will be starting still. With Etienne getting a fair amount of time in rotation.

Im concerned about our secondary to start the year. A lot of Hype around Markett but did he do well when the lights came on?

McGee just wont cut it at Nickle/Sam.

There's a lot of speed with our newcomers, but can they actually play defense? I don't know. Burris marched the ball at will, and so did all of Toronto's back ups.

For a while I thought we could afford to realeas Hefney, But now I'm feeling kind of naked in the back end

  4. So with Sears likely not ready by game day, and Hefney cut, who starts the year off at SAM on the 27th? I sure hope we have a better answer than Desia Dunn or Jeremy McGee!

How bad is Washington's injury, and if he cant go who does? David James? oh boy...

Who do we keep on the 42 out of Woodson or Volny?

With Edwards not likely ready to go and Anderson injured, who fills in there? I bet it will be Denmark, with Pierce starting at WR opposite Matthews.

  5. Gilmore wins the NT starting spot and Frazier shown better last pre-season game.

I really like the look of Frazier so far.

Does anyone know where they're putting Z.Anderson? judging by his weight It'll be DT... I was hoping to see him off the edge...

  6. Kowalczuk must have made a monumental leap forward.  Wish I could have seen, but from where I'm at I could tell if the snap was good or bad and that's about it.

I was fairly surprised they kept him over Dewit, hopefully he did take that step forward.

  7. yeah. Jones sends pressure from anywhere at any down and distance. his DEs aren't given the greenlight to passrush whenever (hence Ricky Foley hating our system and wanting out). it's unconventional and leads to weird situations (like DEs covering a tailback's route 20 yards into the secondary), but minding the gaps on the D-Line always trumps passrushing and risking leaving a hole.

so we blitz. the pressure is coming from somewhere almost every play. and not doing it in an exhibition would be a waste of a plane trip to Winnipeg.

Well, all that unconventional blitzing really seems to work well for you guys, keep it up!

  8. you made my point for me PE. the Jones D doesn't generate sacks. but it brings pressure from different places and disguises where it's coming from. and though we were low in sack totals, i believe that if anyone kept track of how many times a defence hit a QB, we'd be right up at the top.

How does being last in the league in sacks prove your point? Did I miss something there?

  9. As much as I would LOVE to have Glenn on the team(he would make our offence pretty damn good) Im pretty happy with going with Pierce to start the season, just to give Hall/Goltz 2 or three more weeks to get ready to be the true starting QB on the team.

after week three(give or take a week or 2) our real stable of QB's will be Hall/Goltz as 1 and 2, and Clement will be brought back as number three....

Hopefully, after that point Burke will be smart enough to put Buck in as an offensive coach of some kind.

  10. are you including the entire year or just looking at how things went towards the end of the season? Because to the start of the year it was horrendous, but it did get better as the year went on, and the sooner Swiston pushes Morley to the sidelines the better it will be.Saw a much improved running game as the season wore on as well. Looking at where they started the year and where they finished only a fool would dismiss the dramatic improvement.

Agreed... The offensive line is really coming a long! If we had a Kevin Glenn or Danny McManus type of QB, our O-line would be looking like one of, if not the top unit in the league this year IMO.

The way I see it, is if Our defence is as good as it was in 2011, we'll make a serious push this year regardless of our passing game, with the run game being tops in the league, and ST's will being pretty damn good with Dickenson here.

That game is just a real good example of Buck Pierce at his best... you notice how many highlights were of Pierce running? I just don't believe that this grand plan of trying to turn him into Calvillo who has huge protection and throws the ball quickly is going to be effective. Pierce was a good qb because he could absolutely make a defense pay with his legs, without that I just don't think he's dangerous enough.

I dont think he can even run anymore anyway though. I think he's done. He'd serve the team a lot better in the role of assistant OC and QB coach.

  12. And there are people out there that want the CFL to start the season a month earlier than they do now so the GC can be played last Sunday in October. People, this is why training camps should start now, not June 1st. So hockey is over & done with by the time the pre season starts. Can you imagine the CFL starting the regular season in early June competition with the SC playoffs if the season ended in late October??

but then the grey cup would be ridiculously cold.
