  1. Who's next Bud Grant?
  2. All I know is that when I was in school back in the 60's & 70's as well as all the way thru university where I studied Canadian history there was never a mention of residential schools. In elementary & high school, we were taught that as Canadians we were lucky to live in Canada. We were told in school that we were one of the few nations in the world that was not founded after a war. We never had the "Indian Wars" the US had when the West was settled with the help of the CPR. We were taught we were the least racist country in the world. Slavery was not an institution in our country like it was in the US & we were not Imperialists like the US, China, Soviet Union or Britain. We never conquered other countries or planted a Canadian flag on another country's sovereign soil. That we were a peaceful people. Yes, we were taught we were the greatest country in the world. We knew nothing of what went on in residential schools. Now, the truth is coming out & Canadians are shocked by how previous federal governments & (especially) the Catholic Church covered this up. We were deliberately kept in the dark.
  3. I'm no fan of Chevy but until he is actually accused of something I'm not going to cast aspersions on his character over some nutbar perverted coach & what Chevy knows or is supposed to have known.
  4. That's the story on the guy. Wants it given to him. You can't teach stupid either.
  5. Some of these players het chance after chance after chance. Has shown nothing to deserve it.
  6. They have this gawd awful Canadian talk show on now with Shane Hewitt after midnight. So glad I don't work nights anymore.
  7. He's had 2 years to work out the kinks. Wow, at least see Harris run first in a couple of games before you pass judgement on him that he's washed up.
  8. Love how Frosty went from accusing Chevy of hiding secrets about Blackhawks sexual misconduct to GOOD DEAL!! for Nugent-Hopkins almost in mid sentence.
  9. Why would the CFL allow 100 players in a year there are no pre season games? Wouldn't 75 made more sense?
  10. Not being able to attend sporting events or travel is a good start. I have no sympathy at all for them. Most are as dumb as bricks.
  11. C'mon 17to 85, weren't those mosquitos tasty???
  12. Learned? No. Forced? Yes.
  13. I believe we were supposed to host the 1997 Draft but the Jets moved to Phoenix so that was cancelled. I doubt if we ever hold an All Star game. Who really wants to come to Winnipeg in late January?? Wow, talk about casting aspersions.
  14. "Global punter draft" Lol. Oh, when you're good, you're VERY Good.
  15. From getting the ball too much in the Grey Cup to this? Whine, whine, whine, whine. STFU & retire then.

  21. JUCO is pretty damned good ball. My son played it. There are a lot of players that would tear up U Sports. Most players come from economically challenged families in districts where the drop put rate in high schools are high & gang life is a way of life. My son being Canadian had his eyes opened to the differences socio-economically from the white middle class background he came from. A lot of his teammates were Blacks who came from Oakland & cities from Southern California where poverty & gang life are ripe. These guiys all liked Tyler because he could play & was the starter at qb. He hung out with a lot of those guys & they treated him well. Academically, these players struggled with school, with their SAT's & generally didn't qualify for D1 FCS & FBS colleges. They spend 2 years in a classroom setting where they are taught how to become students. Some of them have to take a remedial English or Math class & have to pass those courses before they can further their studies. Some guys are so far behind it takes them three years to finish a 2 year course so they redshirt but after their time is over most can handle university level courses. They won't be Nobel Prize winners or doctors but they'll come away with a degree from an accredited 4 year university. A lot of players redshirt which means they don't play their first year but it doesn't affect their 2 years of eligibility at JUCO. A lot of them graduate & are offered 2 year scholarships to 4 year colleges which before would have been a dream for most of them. Aaron Rodgers got no scholarship offers after high school so the JUCO (Butte College) in his hometown of Oroville, CA, offered him a chance to play & in 2 years he ended up going to Cal. My son quarterbacked his team (College Of The Siskiyous) against Butte when Rodgers younger brother was one of the qbs there, Both teams were in the same conference. The level of play is outstanding.

  23. I believe so. There was absolutely no way my parents were going to make me eat that. That was a hill I was prepared to die on. They knew it, too.
