  1. How 'bout MOS single handedly saving our season with the 3rd down gamble fake kick??? **** the haters.

Stone cold call and the cajones the size of grapefruits.
Nobody's gonna give him the love but he saved our season all on his own.

One good call among so many crappy ones and people are willing to turn a blind eye. This team is 5-10 and has only beaten sub .500 teams. No matter what people think of their performances in the last three games this team is a long way from being good.

I suspect though most will be happy with bumbling and stumbling along with the current regime just because MOS, Walters and co. are all really good charlatans. It isn't people being haters it is all about the real world and no matter how you cut it the Bomber are not a good team. Of course people are huge fans of mediocrity or less here which is why this very mediocre or less regime will remain in power and the Bombers will continue to hemorrhage fans and money. They are just lucky that they GC to save them from posting a loss this year.

  2. Benching or canning LH right now does nothing for this team. There is no one to step in.

Benching or canning LH right now doesn't make the offense better.

Benching or canning LH right now doesn't make the team stop taking stupid penalties.

Benching or canning LH right now doesn't stop the Bomber from turning over the ball.

Benching or canning LH right now doesn't stop the defense from being able to give up the necessary yardage to the opposition at key times to give them a chance to win.

Absolutely Lirim has a hand in the results of the last two games but by no means was he the only factor that caused the Bombers to lose and every fan waving his pitchfork at LH and the refs in the last two weeks fails to see this. Bad teams lose in the face of adversity good teams find a way to overcome it. In the past two games there wasn't one faction of the team that played a strong 60 minutes. As a result every point is important to this team and every point left on the field is magnified.

The Bombers should probably dress another kicker, if they have one, but it would be nuts to cut Lirim. You cut Lirim for his hand in the loses then Washington, Moore, Adams, Shell, most of the offensive line, coaches, etc, etc should all be terminated with him because almost every single player and coach on the team has not done their job at some point this season. (Even many of the folks on the injured list)

  3. When you have more blowout losses than wins, that ought to be enough to tell you everything you need to know.

I gotta ask you, have you seen that blowout-loss team, since the backup quarterbacking has improved?

They haven't played a team with a really good offence yet ;) Calgary and Edmonton do not have killer offences. They get just enough done to win usually. Wait until they play Ottawa. Hank has a habit of dissecting Winnipeg.

  4. Brohm has been in pro leagues for what 8 years? This is LH's 2nd year. He deserves a break because he's still wet behind the ears and there's still a good chance he gets it together.

Not to mention the fact this city gave Westwood a break for pretty much of the 2000s and losing the 2001 Grey Cup. He was freaking awful from 2001 to when he was forced out.

All hail Mad Doug Berry for that!  Even though Kelly brought him back the next year.  Only as a punter mind you.  Troy was a good punter.

He was a crap punter. He couldn't place the ball 9 out of ten times.

  5. He has a been consistently poor all year. Terrible punting frequently and his kicking just cost us another game. Its time to move on.

His punting has been fine. Can't blame him for crappy coverage on returns.

He has continually put punts right down the middle of the field when they should be going near sidelines.

You cannot blame a punter if a cover team fails to cover. Even if they kick a ball right when it should go left you should be able to compensate in coverage. In every case this year either the cover team was blocked out or did not stay in their lanes. If you stay in your lanes you rarely will get scored on.

I have watched lots of teams kickers place the ball in the middle of the field or not pull of a great punt and not get scored on.

  7. Well if you read up on what's he has been through in his life lack of mental fortitude isn't in his history at all.

Baloney.  They said the same thing about Serna and we were stuck waiting for him to get consistent for 2 and half years. I only care about him making kicks.  It's the only criteria that matters in pro football.

But Serna never kick in the 80 percentile in that time. Lirim has not been good this year but he has proven he can be which is why he should be given a chance to work through his issues. Of course bring in other talent in camp is a must but you don't give up on someone who has proven they can hit in the 80% or better range, punt net 40 range, and place punts very well. Christ, the Bombers kept Westwood way past his expiry date even though for most of his time after '01 he could do neither of those things on the list.

  8. Funny thing is we still aren't out of it. If these last 2 games prove anything it's that we aren't as bad as it seems. Right now I'd say we are actually playing better than both bc and Montreal

We are playing better than both those teams.

Our season comes down to next weekend...we beat BC and we have the series on them and tied in wins. Montreal then has to lose. They host Toronto. Go Argos!

Um, if we are playing better why is our record worse? Convenient scapegoats for two weeks have overshadowed continuing weaknesses.

I don't understand how people continue to believe this team is just short of being good. They are 4-10 have lost seven of the last 8 and need to win three of their last four to MATCH their terrible mark of last year.

Sorry if many of you folks like Walters and MOS but in two full years they have not significantly done anything to make this team good. In the case of Walters he has been here five years in different capacities and hasn't been more than the low side of middling at every job. Even a chimp could make the odd good draft pick, trade, or FA signing.

Yup no two ways about it the Bombers are a very bad team.

  10. Crappy teams find a way to lose. Sure even one one of those four FG would have won the game but there were the usual undisciplined penalties, plenty of great punt returns wiped out by penalty, utterly useless offence for half the game, dropped passes, and so on and so on. Second week in a row where there is a convenient scapegoat that masked many other ways this hopeless team handed the win away. I take no solace AT ALL that it was close or whatever the positrons want to say. I saw a bad team lose again and unfortunately because of the Lirim excuse and the game being close I doubt any real changes of significance will be made and this team will remain either slighhtly below middling or the butt of the league.

Oh I also think that was the last chance for a win this season. They stand no chance against Ottawa and TO. They will lose to BC next week.

  11.

Just watched a bunch of the videos and Adams did step back a bit from the line BUT he was within a yard, as per the rules. The official ... looked to be a yard off the line.

In the end though it should never have come down to this the Bombers lost the game largely based on a crappy third and first 10 minutes of the fourth. It is also pretty hard to win games where you possess the ball more than 10 minutes less than the other team. The call sucked and the Bombers deserved better but they shouldn't lose sight of the fact that they had lost that game largely before that point.

I agree our 3rd quarter and well into the 4th we sucked. But when the game was on the line we came storming back, and while we'll never know what coulda been, this was a terrible call that embarrassed the league and infuriated Bomber fans. And potentially took the game away from us.

I can agree with that completely ddanger.

True but at the same time the team did fight back to get close.  It doesn't matter when the points are scored. Just that they are scored and the refs significantly hurt our chance to tie the game.

    That argument is pure hogwash

they hadn't lost the game at that point but they were behind. The bad call didn't cost us the game. It may have contributed but it wasn't the sole reason why we lost.

just wasting my time.  Haters gonna hate no matter what and the logical will always win out in the end.   :P

And logic says that they significantly hurt their chances to win when they only put up 25 yards to Calgary's 137 in the third quarter and spot them and 11 point lead in that time.

They kept fighting and that is great but you simply cannot nap for a quarter in professional football and expect to win. That's too is logic.

Coach just not getting the best out of the players, system just not working. We need a Paul Maurice type CFL HC. Someone wiith experience who knows how to implement a winning system/attitude. Anyone else see this parallel?

Noel got some production out his players and was able to get certain things in check. MOS seems to be unable to do many things, such as get control of undisciplined play or make changes in play as the game goes on.

  15.

Also people here were saying the force out rule didnt exist anymore when the Bombers were forced out a

Couple weeks ago. So what gives?

Since I did not have the advantage of a replay on the no end call to make any determination on the call (I didn't even see the flag come out) I had much more of a concern about that force out call. Basically for the exact same reason you say. However, with this force out it looked to be a total bunk call. It sure looked to me like the Calgary receiver jumped for the ball and when he went up he was clearly out of bounds and the Winnipeg player didn't make contact until both were clearly out. With the Winnipeg call the receiver was CLEARLY jumped in bound and was forced out.

Did I see the force out tonight wrong?
