That depth chart looks gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!
-
Yep Ol isnt a position of concern, it will be very interesting though. Steel sharpens steel, and who ever wins the spot will have had a fantastic camp and pre season.
-
He doesnt just play them, he excels at them.
-
Putting guys on the game day roster that would not other wise ever get a TC sniff, combined with all this off season draft n combine stuff for the world players yeah. Forcing them into the ratio.
-
Agree. Id say have them as a none counter on the PR and eventually a none counter on the active roster. Forcing teams to carry one then 2 just seems silly. Make it like an extra DI spot even. I dont get this global crap they are forcing down our throats.
-
I like bear woods. I dont think he'd mesh well next to bighill though. Both are rangy, scrape to the ball carrier tackle box guys. But Bighill has an incredible range to take up the coverage duties too. Having both would make it impossible to run on us, but Id rather us scoop up one of the NFL cast offs when it happens, or find another young athletic guy who can blitz well. I would also assume that woods is hurt.

Yep, this actually used to be a much bigger thing then it is now. A lot of guys got cushy dealership type sales gigs on the side to supplement income back in the day. Love the talk time prior to FA. It recognizes the way things actually work and improve the situation. Id love to see more leagues do this. Hate the reduction in padded practices. C Is that active roster?

I think its pretty minor for them as well. Though the added reps and getting to be the go-to guy for minicamp is a nice chance for Bennett. Plus more reps for the rooks.
-
They make it on talent. Nis make it on the passport. I think his point is clearly that counting people from EU and Mexico as Canadian with no connection what so ever is a bad idea and waters down the value of having NIs and the ratio. If you're in the elite of talent that earns you a spot in this league, It doesn't matter to me if you are from the EU, Mexico, China, the US or elsewhere. However, some really really thin connections have deemed import players as NI (Cahoon) and that is bad enough. Opening it up so that pretty much a one outside of the US is considered a NI is a bad move.
-
Id like to see some thing to this extent too. It cant imo cover or limit IMP rookies who bounce around though. Maybe if a QB or NI leaves after 3 years you get a pick. Wouldnt be easy to manage, and the PA would hate it.
-
Yeah its interesting. Most leagues like this (like minor and un affiliated baseball) cap how many vets you can have to keep new talent flowing into the league and getting a chance. I hope that min imp vet thing has a hard cap for cap saving.
-
If a team doesnt have 3 guys with 3-4 years of service thats more an issue it self.
-
Weve seen teams down to 3rd string too frequently for that imo. Itd be a calculated risk. And yes I think several teams would take the chance. And I dont think thats bad. The 3rd qb would probably be the holder too. I think thatd be a great idea. Counting a starting NI qb to the ratio isnt going to see a spree of NI qbs, youd need a strong back up ni qb too. And the league just doesnt have those.
-
I would imagine you either get a fine or sign some cast off to roster for the ratio. We've seen worse nucks dredged up in the past for ratio then this will cause to be recirculated. I would think either, a NI starting qb now counts to the ratio (which is tough) maybe a back up NI qb will give you an extra DI (thatd be awesome)

These are some pretty awesome changes.

Lets all just enjoy the fact that the CBA got worked out and that TC starts this week! Best news all year.
-
Id rather have him around as a K/P then a wr or returner lol. Glad hes a RB.
-
Pretty much. Im in the same boat, great punter but too much money. I feel like teams that dont use one guy to kick and punt are at a large disadvantage in cap and ratio. Itll be cool to see him back in the league though. Id like to see him and leone go toe to toe and see who can boot it further.
-
Big guy with a good degree too.
-
Cant remember it at all. That level of depth and developmental talent is incredible. IN years gone by having any of the bottom 6 would be reason for great optimism. Agree, though in general Id rather have a NI wil beside bighill and an IMP S. But im pretty high on jones. Out side of jones Id rather have fenner/gaitor. One at sam one at S. But I dont see it happening.
-
Also cant underestimate how much a small to medium school will pay to keep a great coach. the USCs, floridas, alabamas etc get the media attention but the real security is in the 2nd tier colleges. Jones negotiated a contract worth $800,016 during the 2004 season https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_Jones https://herosports.com/college-football/coaches-salary/june-jones Idk how reliable the second one is but yeah, Established HC in a good conference doesnt hurt for money.

Not as big an issue for an OL imo. Plus he was more CFL sized and tried to go up prior to an NFL Push. Id bet hes pretty close to CFL size already. We will see how badly he wants it in camp. Getting the sharp edge of aggression and technique only comes with desire and work. Unless he comes in a hot mess Id be surprised if he isnt on the IR/PR this year based on his potential alone.
-
He signed today. Its one of those sleeper picks, not a lot of people out side of bomber town and a couple national CFL guys are aware of what a steal he was.
