  1. I bet Ted goveia will be gone. I think a 75% chance JY gets a dc job and 50% chance buck gets a hc offer. If we keep walters, mac, and penn in the front office I’ll very happy. I’m preparing my self for the worst with walters though. Cyril penn is a big sleeper in our front office. I hope we take a hard look at going with fresh blood in the coordinator tier next year. I really hope we keep JY costello, bourgoin, and Stanley. We’ve done a great job replacing and developing ast coaches and scouts. 100%. And in the cfl you need to recruit WRs, Dbs, and pass rushers like you’ve got no one under contract, at all times. A more useful cheaper back up ni rb would be big as well.
  2. He’s such a bad punt returner. Maybe we will see injury re balancing which Would be nice. Though I doubt we bench gmc till grant is back sadly. Parker for gmc, Jackson off and gauthier on then an imp dl for Bennett would be great. Cole is gonna be some thing special at lber eventually.
  3. Bet we don’t make any changes other than Zach LOL
  4. Good 2nd point. It can make sense situationally to go hurry up and run an option pack after a successful short yardage pick up. But it’s gotta be situational. It cant go against the flow of the offense or take Zach out of a rhythm. It can’t go for second unless it’s short and you need to get decent yardage. You can’t do it in a position that takes an end zone shot off the table either. It makes more sense especially when you bring in the heavy set on 2nd and short to pull a couple guys and run a qb sweep to try and make a big gain than to take Zach and generally lawler off the field. Usually our go to short yardage WRs are Demski woli and Bailey. An imp comes off for the marine currently too. If the sweep isn’t going any where on 2nd the qb can throw it away and pick up the first on 3rd down.
  5. You mean prukop? Or Davis? 😂 teams aren’t playing the short yardage package different based on who takes the snap. If you try it with 4 or 5 receivers they aren’t gonna play the pass and you’ll see a difference. Not with 1 or 2 guys out wide.
  6. Yeah, the ol got beat. We had a 4th string lt, and a 5th guard from the pr at rt, and a hodge podge of nis and global to go with it. 1 yard to go with 1 yard off the ball. The dl doesn’t know when the snap will come. You have to mess up to miss more than 1 or 2 in 100. The 1 or 2 times a defensive player with elite get off has perfect timing and monsters his man solo to blow it up. It just doesn’t take skill to fall forward a yard with a yard off the ball and a jump start. Another factor to keep in mind with our short yardage package and other teams is we carry an extra ol, and our two sub pack ols are easily the best run pack subs in the cfl. Plus we currently di the fighting marine for short yardage. Brady runs roughshod over teams in that pack. Defences just don’t carry that much beef to counter it.
  7. Get a guy young like Johnny Augustine. Teach him to hold for kicks, long snap, take a snap and do short yardage, eventually punt and kick to be your super duty back up versatility guy. All for an ni roster spot that can back up at a couple positions. Then dress QBs who are developmental, viable step in guys, and starters.
  8. Go back and watch him in the goal line shut downs a couple weeks ago. He still runs way to up right and has missed going off tackle when he didn’t need to. Short yardage isn’t hard, half the guys on our roster could probably execute it as well. Having one guy whose only job is qs is a prime example of poor roster management. (When that guy has no passer upside like prukop) may as well have kept Dominique Davis. You don’t need to be 6’5, or 225, you just need to get low take a snap and fall forward behind the ol. Kevin Glenn was as good as any one at it
  9. Short yardage is 99% ol play. Comparable out put with a significantly worse ol is much better performance. And he has been much better than comparable.
  10. How sad is it that their presentation, panel, colour and camera work were all better than tsn Has now.
  11. EA is a leader when it comes to consistent quality. Their always bad, and it’ll probably never change. How they manage to get soo many high value IPs is beyond me. If you buy a madden now, can you get roster updates off the store?
  12. Didn’t say he was a messiah. He has up side. He’s also on a much much worse ol. Poopkup has been significantly worse. But hence why this would be a better conversation point than legs.
  13. I’d be up for that. Any thing really. My thought is if we up the floor, separate QBs from the cap and or take the extra qb off we could really push out the other leagues with cost. They don’t pay QBs much at all. If we lock all QBs into say a minimum of 150k it would be hard to get QBs for those leagues at 50k.
  14. Thats a great idea. Maybe two small roster teams and they play every two weeks or some thing. A good chance for nis to develop. Maybe let each team have 2 2 way guys too. Not protected more than pr guys.
  15. https://3downnation.com/2023/08/19/canadian-qb-nathan-rourke-displays-accuracy-play-making-ability-in-second-nfl-preseason-game-with-jaguars/ rourke is gonna be the pre season mop this year.
  16. I assume it’s still as broken mechanically as ever though ya
  17. We did some beyond befuddling things on offence. We repeatedly took lawler off the field in 2nd down situations. We ran a lot of bunch sets with shallow passing concepts. Hitch, quick, stick with no deep release, stick out etc. a lot of slow developing play actions and option set ups that were never cashed in. We didn’t use any concepts to try and get guys looks. Normally especially with lawler we would run yankee on faster play action to get him into his favourite deep out position. We’ve been using flag concept with Brady clearing out this year to great success, set up by his screens and play action. Didn’t use it. all our designed concepts ran around getting guys touches in the tackle box. Runs and screens to Demski gmc and Bailey. Screens hitches and bubbles to brady and the above mentioned. We completed 5 passes to lawler and schoen combined for 14 yards per completion. But with only one end zone shot. When you try and get a young qb into a rhythm, you use high percentage stuff to build some confidence then run concepts to get a guy like lawler into a specific situation with an easy check down. Our first drive did a good job of getting a pace going but had too few runs and our red zone calls were awful. We could just iso schoen or lawler run play action and toss a 50/50 ball. We probably score a td on that far more than 50% even when teams know it’s coming.
  18. True. Though the primary limiting factor in every teams success is line play. Doesn’t matter who you have at qb, no ol no success. right now brown would improve Montreal, Calgary, Hamilton, Saskatchewan, and Edmonton instantly with out a doubt in my mind. I actually think he could be a big improvement for bc, because I believe he can manage a game. They don’t need to light the world on fire with the passing game they need to limit mistakes. Sounds strange for a team with soo many wins as them but I think it’s true. Ottawa would be a toss up imo. This is as much an indictment of the qbing woes in the cfl right now as it is an endorsement of brown. Maybe the league needs to add a free pr spot just for QBs. Maybe the salary cap should have a separate number for all qbs. Or maybe we need a higher salary floor for qbs. One thing is clear, you can’t trust or depend on teams to prioritize and develop young qbs in the cfl right now.
  19. Idk how legs fit with the room, kickers in general are strange alien mercurial bastards. But maybe the best thing about Sergio is he’s a great locker room guy. Don’t often see that in kickers. the real discussion should be pigromes short yardage success in ott vs poopkups repeated fails.
  20. Like 100k with a chance to earn 120. Almost exactly the same as Brady. Kinda gross. It’s between Brady and Demski imo
  21. Do they still make madden games every year? I can’t imagine like 25 different madden games
  22. The offensive game plan and play call was trash. He looked like how collaros looked before he got hurt last week, and in the weeks our offence has struggled. We ran the same calls over and over despite having no crossers for when he has to escape, and few first down options. You can’t blame Dru brown for Brady barely getting touches in the second half right? Or the horrid use of the Poopkup package to disastrous effect twice right? But the archetype of that failure and the horrible red zone play calls isn’t to blame for the passing play call? Cmon man. Buck pierce took us back to the exact offense we used to see with a hobbled Nichols and plop calling the plays. Exactly. Re running the same couple pass plays that didn’t work the first time with piss poor check downs no good usage in the red zone and big gaps in running our tail back. Two and outs with enough drives into fg range and red zone plays with no purpose. One off? I mean if you don’t count Zach before he got hurt last week, or the bc game, the Ottawa game or the other weeks we struggled to score on bad teams I guess.
  23. True, but at some point you need to stop self sabotaging and playing down to bad teams. Other wise you become a bad team.
  24. 1 Brady. Carried our offence 2 Wilson all over the field opened up a lot for a bunch of guys 3 Sergio hit em all in tough conditions hh Huston pick 6 game winner block of the game Eli getting down field on jumbo and getting under the stamps skin crunch of the game ba on Carey
