  1. Not awful by current wr standards but I wouldn’t wanna pay begel 200k a year.
  2. I bet walters is doing more work than ever on the draft and rookie free agency. That’s where our gems will come from this year, and that’s what we need. The re shuffle in the coaching staff, with the previous possibility that we could lose buck, and current that we could lose Brady and schoen or more all means a lot of prep work for situations that might not even happen. There is no “off season” in the front office of pro sports.
  3. I’m guessing it’s just a matter of him letting walters figure out what he can afford to pay him. I doubt the pay is a big factor in his return. Man I hope it’s not Calgary.
  4. Back to Regina or edm? lol
  5. I suspect a good bit younger. Im not worried about our ability to find and recruit talent. My worry has been our ability to move on from guys, and this off season has shown great improvement in that area. I’m sure it won’t be a 100% ideal off season for any one from the fans to walters, we will go into next tc with questions. But I think we will fill those out. I think the draft is even more critical than the free agency period. We badly need to restock our ni depth.
  6. Hall is indeed an amazing asset to have around, as long as it isn’t a pure hall d branded as a jy d. But I don’t think that’ll be it. Hall has always been a strong collaborator, as he talks about with buck. He’s also just one of the best people in the league. I hope his health holds up and he can continue to fulfill a support role for a good while longer. I think jy will continue to play a coverage that’s off WRs and emphasizes staying in the back peddle as long as possible before making a break and a play on the ball/wr. I suspect we will see smaller cushions giving guys more of a chance of making a play, and I think we will see less mlb blitzes into a gap, and more “exotic” blitzes designed to get pressure for the guy rushing. I wonder how jy and mos will look at the dl. In the past couple years we’ve seen great success with nose tackles, cheetah fronts, and the 30 front. The dt and de has been really bust with out sayles. Going to be interesting to see. I could see him really opening up things for kyrie too. Where does 8 years as a dc rank for the bombers? I feel like that’s got to be high on the all time list.
  7. Even when he’s healthy he isn’t a guy you can build around any more. Powell brown would be a monster camp competition. For sure you would get the most out of one of those guys. Cats are stuck in this only a move away from winning it all attitude. And they just aren’t.
  8. Agree, we saw cf make good use of his guys last year at times, it wouldn’t be like a star wr going to edm for a payday, he’d still flourish.
  9. I’m guessing some thing like defensive quality control/assistant or he could coach dbs for/with jy. This is a huge win move for us. Hall staying on is fantastic. Big sign that the mafia aren’t going to stand pat again and aren’t happy with another close gc loss. Huge step forward and gives me a lot of hope for this coming season. Good for miller too. Some one called it idr who.
  10. I wouldn’t trade a first for him either. I’d be happy to get him for like a 3rd/4th or some thing to replace prukop. Even a 3rd is a bit higher than I’d like. We need to rebuild our ni depth.
  11. Chris jones has never let silly little rules stop him before. I have no freakin clue what to expect edm to do or look like other than spending money foolishly. The position has changed a bunch. Teams don’t play 250lbs mlbers any more or funnel to a guy much. It’s more two ilb/olb types. It’ll be interesting to see what bc and tor do with their lbers and if we see big pay days in fa.
  12. Has corneys money triggered yet? I thought they were cutting him hence the rumour of us picking him up
  13. Strange move for him to sit out the whole last year then come back. What a dumpster fire to walk into as well loool.
  14. When I looked back at the 3dn reported salaries the cost of back up RBs and QBs tor most teams was stunning. Strong arm, strong runner tough to bring down in the pocket but yes. Strong arm and running qb athleticism can take you far as a qb. But it won’t take you to being a great starter. honestly I’m not sure you can teach a pro qb to read and run an offence. If it isn’t in the tool kit by that point I think it could very likely be he doesn’t have that strategic analytical field general mind set. I also feel the more raw talent and athleticism a qb has, the less they develop the cerebral side. You can dominate games at college and below with out that side. Corny has all that raw package stuff. That is just a notion of mine though, and even every rule has its exception. It would be very interesting to see though how corny and buck would work together. I think that challenges both of them to do and be better. Not keen on us paying big money for that though.
  15. Very pointed up side in that move imo
  16. Off season mode on steroids. Fa can’t come fast enough.
  17. That’d be interesting. Or maybe medlock! lol. Now that I think about it it’s kinda odd k/ps never seem to become coaches. I wonder if mos could take that role, then allow buck to take some off his plate and use that room under the coaches cap some place else. Or we might even have a position coach who could double dip with support from mos. Hogan, bourgoin, or stanley could fit. Stanley is probably the best fit imo, but he’s already doing double duty. Bourgoin is super under rated and it might help keep him here longer and develop him more. Hogan isn’t the best fit and is the newest guy but rb is a less demanding position to coach imo.
  18. Just keeps hanging around. Clearly he isn’t a fraction of what he used to be and they don’t and can’t trust him to start. Never liked him as a player love him in the booth. Kind of an odd situation. I feel kinda sad for him. All the heart and desire, used to be a star qb and he just keeps trying to recapture the past glory. yeah pretty much. If it’s prukop type money and his role it’s fine I guess. Suitor would be soo torn about drooling over him.
  19. Doesn’t matter where they come from lmao a teams ability to use a guy doesn’t change if he sits on another teams pr before he’s signed, or plays some place else first. Shake your goofy head.
  20. Agree. You keep lawler and schoen at all costs right now. Bailey is likely the odd man out. id bring him into camp. At his best he’s an elite sam who is as good filling a gap and playing the run/screen as any db in the league. Big time physicality, loyal to a fault, and a great community guy. Idk if he still has it, I think he’s being made a fall guy personally. Wouldn’t give him 100k but I’d bring him in for 80-90 maybe with incentives. We went hard after him twice as a fa too. Thats true. Collusion in the cfl is a way of life though. In pro sports in general. The nba can’t stop it. How many times in the last decade have people been punished for it? The cfl created a pre free agency negotiation period in the off season entirely because they couldn’t stop or even limit collusion. Tampering is the worst kept secret in all of sports. The dirty truth is every one knows and no one acknowledges.
  21. And what does their source matter? It’s not that schoen would be replaced by one guy, his touches would get split between those guys.
  22. Lawler Demski and woli haven’t been able to do much of any thing? Agree.
  23. You’re right it isn’t and you do raise interesting points. However I’d argue that RBs peak is actually shorter here than the nfl. while careers tend to be longer, it’s just the recycling nature giving guys a much larger time playing past their prime or being good. Few guys dip in productivity and are gone quick like blink. I’d actually argue the opposite. Brady doesn’t have the speed to make up for indecision. When he wasn’t hitting the hole as hard and fast as possible he struggled. As soon as he started running intuitively and trusting the blocking he exploded. I think if he loses a small bit of speed it will be similar to that time.
  24. Insert random over rated rider vet here * lol Hes a talent guy. And will probably be cheap this off season. But idk if we are filling a wr spot, I wouldn’t want to pay more than the imp rookie base. We can find and develop WRs now. We’ve had tons of wr talent in camp the last few years. Bailey and woli can back fill a ton of catches too. Tbh if we lost lawler or schoen for what ever reason, unless we have an elite guy available id rather fill internally and bring in another ni. We could very easily start another wr spot. Also, I’d keep schoen over Brady. Even though Brady is my guy, just no comparison between an elite prime age wr and a rb with a few years and lots of Carries. Rb has the shortest career length of any nfl position, despite the most play and production and the role being heavily split in the modern era. 2.5 years per career vs the league average of 3.3. the average retirement age for RBs is 27. The peak is well known to be 23-27. The 27th year is known as the cliff now. Since 2010 only 11 RBs in the nfl have reached 28 and 29 years of age in the nfl. And those are improved numbers! Brady is 27 next year. With out bad luck he likely has 1-2 years at a high level. Schoen likely has a good 5 years then a less steep decline after that too.
  25. We need jeffcoat healthy for the play offs, the mid stretch and ld. At this point I don’t expect him to be healthy half to two thirds of the year. But he’s such a monster when he is healthy. With that ir money off the cap jj is actually a bargain for the stretch and play offs. We need to focus on developing the rotational guys and stick to a roster that allows them to stay on. Mysterious injury aside, Habba should’ve been on the active roster all year. Should never have seen the pr. Love Cole coming back. That kids got a bright future. I love the aggression he plays with, and his athleticism really shows on the field. Some guys who are freaks like that just look slow to react on the field, not Cole. We all talk a lot about the depth and Canadians, and rotation that made our D great. But the most under rated factor imo was the versatility. Biggie could take a deep zone from mlb depth, Willy could drop back/swat passes/and play inside on cheetah sets, guys like Hansen and kongbo could stuff the run inside out in cheetah or 4-3 and get some decent pressure, stove was a nose but also a monster inside pressure machine, ba was the best cover s in ages, but also a monster in the run game. All our dbs could tackle solo or blitz and get pressure too. We had multiple guys who could play multiple positions in the secondary and kyrie could play multiple lber spots and fill basically any role you needed. we could run any thing from any set or front and execute simple to exotic looks on short notice. Cole has that exact kind of potential utility. That’s what we really need more in our young guys. The ability and willingness to go out side the norm and the comfort zone and do things that prevent the O from getting comfortable.
